Cleansing fasts have been brought up on this forum many times. They are a scam and there is no science behind it. Sorry. =( I hope you do well with your other goals.

I have to say, I don't know what other people use them for, but if you're only doing it to feel cleaner, healthier, and you don't do it for too long a time, they're perfectly alright.

I would try to nix the coffee. Add juices, especially citrus juices - the more citrusy the better - Add lemon juice, cayenne and apple cider vinegar. You should be consuming fluids constantly.

By only consuming vegetable juice, tea, and coffee, you really are starving yourself. Fruit juices will at least raise your caloric intake.

EDIT to add: make sure you get the low sodium vegetable juice, but keep even that to a minimum. regular vegetable juice has 20% of your sodium allowance in only 8 ounces. even the light sodium stuff is still high. too much sodium will hinder your cleanse.

There's seriously that much sodium in it?!  That's disgusting.  I'll definately work more on making my own.  I drink it every day.  Ew.

Thank you for the information.  That'll make it much healthier for me.

I suppose I'll have to ignore the constantly brewing coffee (my mum and dad are obsessive coffee guzzlers) this time around.

aoifek:  Thank you for the well wishes and the concern.  I've already decided that if I notice during my fast that I'm starting to feel that "Psh, I'm above food.  I don't need it.  It makes me weak." sort of feeling in me, I will immediately abandon the fast and make myself a big plate of steamed veggies and some grilled fish.  I'm extremely motivated now to keep my eating habits healthy- this fast may be the last one I do for a year, I just need to feel clean now, otherwise I doubt I'll be able to stick with my goals.

It may not really be considered a fast by other people's standards, but it works for me.

3 days: vegetable juice, teas, coffee.  Making sure to take my vitamins as well.

Well, I usually do a cleansing fast once every three months for just a few days.
In the words of someone else on CC, it's like a "clean start."

I have the same problem in times such as that- undereating.

If you enjoy it, try drinking V8 vegetable juice.  You'll be getting at least a few calories in, and also be getting nutrition you're missing out right now.
There's also the fruit flavoured types of V8.

I second the tea and milk thing as well.

If you can't eat, drinking calories helps.
If you could manage a smoothie, loading it up with tons of fruit, yogurt, milk, and if you have some, wheat germ and/or protein powder, you'll be able to get at LEAST 300 calories into a single smoothie.
Not only would that give you TONS of nutrition you need, it tastes fantastic and you don't have to deal with that weird, horrible "how in the world can I get my mouth to work for me to chew?" feeling.

The pain WILL ebb away.
That boy treated you wrong, but at least now you're free, when you are ready, to find yourself a MAN.

I moved to Mississippi a few years ago from a town in Colorado where the population was 60% hispanic, and the other 40% was everyone else combined.
I'd never had much interaction with blacks before, so it was a bit of a culture shock at first.
Now, though, I go to a mainly black church and have many black friends.

From my experience, I would have to wonder if you are somehow provoking people, because generally, you are NOT going to experience racism unless you provoke it.
Are you waving some idiot rebel flag around?
Do you have any rude or angry bumper stickers, or perhaps, something against Obama?

Perhaps I am wrong, but you may simply be seeing things as worse than they really are.

Weight Loss 5' to 5'2'' Girls: How many calories do you eat for your exercise level? Jun 14 2008

I'm 5'2" and 131-135 (depending when I weigh) right now, trying to get down to 123, which is my best sports weight.  (Seriously, if I get below that, I start looking gross xD.)
I've been stuck between 131-135 for a month now.  Ugh!

I eat between 1200 and 1500, depending on how much exercise I get that day.
I try to eat more one day, less the next, in a pattern so that my metabolism doesn't get used to a certain amount.

I feel the same way.
Whilst I was in Italy, I took only a BITE of the pasta a friend was eating for me (I don't like pasta, and we were given it at EVERY supper), as I thought the brown bits in the sauce were mushrooms.
Turned out that they were bits of veal.

Even though I didn't actually eat a piece of the veal, the close contact made me freak out for a few minutes.  That meal ended up being whole wheat artisan bread and apples, aha.

mish_aresenau, I had that problem too.  What you need to do is go through different brands.  One bra I have that's a 34 fits TIGHT, and it's incredibly uncomfortable.  However, a bra a friend bought me in Italy (seriously, weird souvenir, eh?) that is a 32 fits perfectly.

These days, brand has a lot more to do with correct sizing than it used to.
And remember, even the TINIEST of people have a bit of flab, so don't sweat it too much ;)

When you have to wear your favorite jeans with heels because they hang two inches lower than they used to.

When you wave goodbye and your underarm no longer continues shaking in a flabby echo.

 Both of these, aha!

The problem with the jeans one is that, I already have to buy pants labled "short" or "petite" and they're still too long.  So now that I've lost weight, and am unable to buy new pants quite yet, it's rather...annoying.

The waving!  The flab is wayyy hard to get rid of for me, even with all of my strength training on my arms.  The muscle builds daily, the flab disappears monthly...in incredibly tiny increments.  Ahhh!  I loathe genetics.

You know what I think it is?  A lot of the new styles almost look maternity and I think people just get confused.  I know I've seen an average sized woman before in one of those type of shirts/tops and wondered myself.  I wouldn't take it as an insult...I think it's just the clothing styles.

 It is the style.
I have a close friend that is underweight (due to thyroid problems), and the new styles make even HER look puffy.

Eat and drink whatever you want (in moderation)! Get back to your normal eating habits the next day, but dont stress. Remember...this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. People arent perfect every day, and this is a once in a lifetime event - enjoy it!

Katie

Katie, I was going to say the same thing to her!

Also, if you want to, you could try eating very carefully during the day, and saving most calories for the night.
Like, egg whites in the morning with tomatoes or bell pepper, a spinach salad for lunch.  Strawberries and carrots for snacks.
That way, you haven't starved yourself all day, but you don't have to worry as much about calories.

On birthdays and special holidays, that's what I usually do.

Weight Loss What do you want to do when you get thinner that you can't do now? Jun 07 2008

Here's one that I've already hit.

Being able to do this weird crossy thing with my legs that hooks my foot around my other leg o_o
I wish I knew how to describe it.
When I was a kid, it was my favourite position even though it looks distorted.

Being able to feel comfortable when changing with all the skinny girls in choir.

Being able to crap a pair of my size pants of a rack and take them home without having to try them on.

Feeling less self-conscious about my arms!

Being one of the few girls that look beautiful in our choir attire.

Not feeling stupid when I flirt.

Not having to wonder what coaches are thinking when it comes to my size when I go to tryouts.

Bikini! (actually, I'll still wear them with board shorts, because I'm generally rather modest)

Bit of fat under chin DIE!

Feel less self-conscious on the rare occasions that I'm able to see the boy that I have feelings for. (Darn him for being so skinny!)

Not feel like I'm going to break people when they pick me up and carry me.

I would say.
Next time you find yourself binging.
Start drinking cups and cups of water as well.

For me, the pain of a too-far binge has made me settle down a LOT.
Just be careful, because too much water CAN actualy hurt you.

It looks good.
I'd replace the ICBINB with just no calorie cooking spray myself, but that's because I have an aversion to butter and oil due to texture.
Also, I'd replace the 3 small tortillas with one large low-carb whole wheat tortilla.
I'll likely make this for breakfast tomorrow in the low-cal version, and then make it for cal version for the rest of the family, since it's Father's day.

Personally, I love the show. As often as possible, I watch it.
Gillian McKeith does tend to be rather blunt, but it helps motivated people to hear how a healthier person feels about their lifestyle. In some extreme cases, when a person truly needs to change the way they're giving nourishment (or the lack thereof) to their bodies, someone like Gillian to poke and prod them and remain entirely honest is the best "diet' tool they could possibly have.

Also, I've certainly learnt of some interesting foods from watching! And learnt how to eat out properly without expending incredible amounts of calories.
