| Weight Loss | how much fat and fiber should I be getting? | Jul 21 2009 14:06 (UTC) |

Thanks, yea, I am 5'2 and it is telling me to eat 1403 or something like that to lose a half pound a week. I was at 1600 but I recently moved and now am not going to the gym every day like I was before. So, I am trying to incorporate some simple exercises into my day, in between taking of my 19 month old troublemaker. I am one of those people who LOVES to exercise but have no idea what to do when not at the gym. I go to the beach alot now, so that's something;) |

1200 is what the CC calculator is telling me to eat. I have been getting 20-25 g of fiber per day, just want to make sure that is enough. As for fat, I was getting 50 or so when I was eating 1600 cals, but wasn't sure now how many grams are ideal for a 1200 cal diet. Thanks! |

Are you seeing results, Ginger? Because I also have started that dvd, and I wasn't that challenged. Maybe I should go straight to Level 2? Ummm, does anyone know where I can get a good sports bra that would help me be able to do the jumping jacks more efficiently?(you know what I mean.....) And to answer your question, MCS, I actually am way more challenged with the Biggest Loser2 workout dvd with Bob and Kim than with Jillian, which is kind of disappointing to me because I was thinking I was going to be whipped into shape by the bada$$ Jillian who got all those results on the show. Anyone know when the season premiere is? |

I think you should enjoy this time. You didn't mention if your BF is happy about this new baby. If so, then yeah, enjoy the pregnancy and each other. Things change between you when you have a baby together. Not a bad thing, though. I was only with my BF for a few months and also was told I couldn't have children and then OOps, I was pregnant. We didn't worry too much about what other people would think. When I was born my mom was already married to a different guy than the one who got her pregnant(and she was 17), so I was not worried at all what she would say(btw, she was ecstatic). I was 25 when I got pregnant, and I am with the father and we are super in love with each other and our child. You will have to let people know eventually so just get it over with. They will probably be super happy for you. My mom bought me so much baby crap when I got pregnant that I haven't really had to buy anything but formula and diapers(my son is 5 months old). Congratulations, this should be the happiest time in your life! If someday you guys decide to get married, so be it, it will not be for the wrong reasons. We decided that very thing about our relationship and didn't hesitate to share it with anyone who asked us if we are going to be married just cause we have a kid together. There is nothing wrong with you or your child or your relationship. Sorry if I'm rambling... |

Original Post by skwinkle: Oh, my goodness! That just reminded me of this woman I know...nice girl, we get along, but okay, she is really overweight and has 2 little girls, 10 and 5. Both overweight. She told me recently that her 10 year old weighs 150 and needs to see a nutritionist! The thing is, every time I've gone over there I've watched her feed her kids 2 double cheeseburgers and fries from McDonald's for dinner and these kids get NO exercise! They are told to SIT in a chair and watch tv ALL day! I am appalled at this but feel like it is not my place to suggest things to her. I would not want to criticize someone's parenting style, but these kids are unhealthy! Its just sad. |

Yeah ignore them. My own father (biologically, anyway) told me when my son was 9 weeks old that I had quite the gut and needed to do some crunches! People are appalling...don't let it ruin your good mood. |

Original Post by peacecalilove: That happened to me in 9th grade. The worst part is, I knew it was happening(although I didn't think it was going to be that bad) but the teacher(a guy of course, sorry guys)wouldn't let me go to the bathroom. Of course I was scared of detention at that age, so I didn't just walk out, and after class my best friend was kind enough to loan me her gym shorts for the rest of the day. To this day I keep a stash of tamps in my purse for emergencies at ALL times. |

Original Post by nvrmndtheb: That's funny. It also reminds me of something someone told me in high school. They said as long as your stomach does not stick out past your boobs, your'e not overweight("fat", as they put it). I really believed it at the time, now I realize how stupid that is... |

I use the information provided on food labels or look up the individual ingredients if I am making something from scratch. Most days I don't see a grade. I just know how many calories, fat, fiber, etc. I am getting. That is enough for me, I don't like being graded. So I avoid it. That's just me though. But yea, be careful, because the exercise you do might not equal the calories you ingested. Other than that, do what works for you. |

When I was pregnant I loved pasta, went an entire month eating it every night for dinner. And ham rolls with cream cheese. Once (still pregnant) I ate 2 cheesy gordita crunches in the car driving home from class. Needless to say, I'm still trying to lose my baby weight. |

| Paul was supposedly "very ill". I don't know if I believe it though. Remember when they all went home and he wasn't answering Jillian's calls and he was pigging out? I think maybe he just didn't lose weight...I could very well be wrong, but hey... Btw, be prepared for a lot of negativity about your post, I'm not trying to be mean but I tried asking a few minutes ago and in like 2 minutes I got a whole lot of negativity for even mentioning it!(I'm happy for Bernie and Brittany looks awesome!) | |||

Sounds like you need to eat more. I guess protein gives you energy and complex carbs will make your blood sugar stable, unlike simple carbs which make your sugar spike then drop, causing fatigue. But yea, I'm no doctor, but I'd definitely try some more food. Good job on your dedication...stick with it! (I am having the same problem with working my *ss off and not seeing any results...I know I am eating enough...)Good luck! |

If I had known how they do circumcisions, I would never have approved my son's. They take your baby, strap him spread eagled on a table, give him some sugar water or children's Tylenol, and immediately start cutting him. The poor kid! When I heard this I cried. I'm not kidding. I had my son in December and learned this information in like February. The doctors and nurses at the hospital will say that it is preferable, safe and virtually painless. Bullsh*t! I also have read that uncircumcised penises are cleaner and that little foreskin is packed with nerve endings for way more pleasurable sex (later of course). Just my 2 cents as a new mom... |

Well, I know how you are feeling...kind of. I usually allow myself one or two not so healthy options during the weekends as long as they fit into my calories. However, I am not losing weight! I do so good all week long, cardio 5 times a week, I weigh and measure EVERYTHING and eat between 1300-1700 calories a day and still, no luck. All my food choices during the week are good, lower calorie low fat, high fiber foods. I am beginning to wonder what the point of trying is. I have been at this about a month. At first I thought I was losing weight, cause that's what my scale was telling me, but now it's registering that I actually GAINED 3 pounds!...what is a girl to do? GRRRRRR... |
