Hi Ladies,

Still hovering around 192.  It's a more-fat-less-muscle 192 than last time I was here.  Oh well!  I'm getting ready for a 3 week vacation... we'll see what THAT does to the scales! Undecided  I'm hoping my brain will decide it's time to kick into lose-it mode soon.  I've lost 15 lbs this past year.  I guess I have another year to go.  Having this stall will probably help when I get serious again.  It's nice to have not gained it all back again!

Hello everyone,

Just checking in to wish everyone a happy Mem Day weekend. Isn't it nice that there is no traditional eating associated with this holiday?!

I've started walking a bit further, up to 45 minutes every other day.  Can't say that the knees are any better, but at least I'm moving again.  I've gained 5 lbs since my low in Feb, but my eating has been terrible, so no surprise there.  I'm actually proud of myself for still being here and keeping track.

Etah - how exciting and scary that you are starting the surgery process!

Welcome to all the new people - we need more "losers" - all the oldies are at maintenance.  I guess that's a good sign - we'll get there too eventually!

Hello everybody,

I haven't been around very much, lots of travel these past couple of weeks.  And it's been a depressing couple of months weight-wise.  I'm back at 193 again.  For me exercise and eating the right foods are tied together, so when one stops, so does the other.  My knees are not improving much and I've decided that I NEED to walk, so I've started just doing it anyway.  Went for a walk on the beach yesterday so lots of ibuprofen today.  But I'm still here, still paying some attention.  Nobody ever said it would be easy, right?Undecided

Bedhead (great name!) ~ It's so nice to have another person here that isn't trying to weigh 140 lbs.  I too have an athletic build, and am trying to get down to 175.  I guess that's why the BMI is a range and not a number!

Okie~ I've never had knee problems before, so this is very frustrating for me.  I suddenly realized that I'm only 2.5 months from my big vacation, which is supposed to include lots of walking and hiking.  I don't mind walking through pain, but I've been told that it won't heal if I do.  I will try not to spend too much energy worrying about things that might not happen! I'm sure your weight loss helped tremendously.  What a gift to yourself!

Hello everyone, and welcome to the new ladies.

I'm in a bit of a holding pattern here.  Poison oak is just about done, thank goodness.  After the second batch appeared on my face I was about ready to strangle someone!  My knees are not healing as fast as I had hoped, and I've been told to back off the walking, even on the level, and concentrate on the strengthening exercises instead.  That is so hard!  I guess once they started to feel a bit better I overdid it.  Unfortunately after two months of not hiking my shape is changing, and not for the better Frown.  The weight is staying the same, on the bump at 190.  Trying not to be impatient and practice maintenance!

flynesta: you seem to be eating a lot of pre-packaged foods, lots of protein and carbo and not a lot of fresh fruits and veggies.  Maybe changing what you eat will help.  I wouldn't eat as low as 1500 calories/day unless you are not active at all.

Happy Friday the 13th (again) everyone.

It's been a tough two weeks for me with DH travelling and poison oak.  Not a lot of sleep, eating meals in the car between basketball practices.  I did walk a couple of times, but two miles on the flat is hardly a lot of calories burned.  The result of all this is a 2 lb. gain for me this week.

So...for next week:  More water...  Less food on the run...  More sleep!  *sigh*

Hello Everyone.  TGIF.  Had a tough week.  The kids went trail blazing last weekend and brought in poison oak.  I have it all over the backs of my thighs from sitting on an "infected" chair, so thick that it's one big oozy patch, not individual bumps.  Just HAD to share my misery with all of you...  So I'm not sleeping well and generally feeling sorry for myself, which of course leads to emotional eating.  So no loss for me this week Cry.

On a brighter note, I did two short walks this week, on the flat, and the knees seem to be getting better, so maybe cardio exercise will be back in my future soon.  Off to the Physical Therapist again today.

Hello Everyone, Happy Friday and welcome to the new faces.  Nice to have you join us! Audrey, we're at the same weight and have the same goal so you can feel good beating me there Embarassed.  I'm a slow-poke!

Enjoyed a week in Hawaii, and managed not to gain weight.  Ate lots of Macadamia nuts, a bit of ice cream, and all the dinner stuff I don't usually eat: ribs, hamburgers, etc. Also did lots of body surfing as the waves were high - that burns calories!

I'm over the hump, 189.  Nice to see the 180s again after a four year absence.  I've been seeing a PT about my sore knees, so maybe someday I can get back to hiking and the losing can gain a bit of momentum again.  1 lb in 3 weeks is the right direction at least but slow!

Hope you all have a fun weekend.

Hi everyone.  Happy early Valentine's Day. And welcome to all the new ladies!

Due to no exercise this week because of my knee issues, I have no loss to report.  Luckily no gain either.  I'll be sitting on a beach in Hawaii next week, so will check in again in a couple of weeks.

Etah - The 30s are great...you don't need anything to overshadow your 30th birthday.  Rejoice that you have accomplished so much so early in your life.

Happy Friday again everyone.  Nice to see some new people joining in our conversations.  Now we just need some BIGGER, tall people to join so I don't start getting a complex.  You're all below my goal weight before you even get started! Undecided

Lost a pound this week - sitting on the bump: 190.  Half way to my goal of 175.  I've been having trouble with my knees this week, so I'm taking a couple of weeks off hiking in hopes that they will heal.  I guess I'll have to actually eat less too... bummer!

On the subject of heels:  I don't like wearing them, but I do wear clogs with thick soles (2"), which makes me at least 6'2".  I don't consider that tall - I guess it helps that DH is 6'5".

Hi Everyone...

Kudos to inittowinit - A NEW LOW! and okiewoman who looks fabulous in a bikini - I'm definitely jealous. All you lightweights are doing really well - LOL!

No loss for me this week, maybe a half pound gain, but my Health-o-Meter scale (yes, that's what it's called) doesn't give me that accuracy.  Still, not bad for me to have lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks as my goal is 1 lb/week.  Nybanana got past a "round" number, maybe I can too.

tcole03 - I've lost 15 lbs and still nobody has said anything...maybe when summer comes and we all start wearing shorts in public again someone will notice (OK, I wear shorts all the time as it's not cold here, but it's a nice thought)

Keep up the good work, Amazons.  Hey, where's etahbear?!

Don't eat the same thing every day, unless you really like it.  You are restricting yourself too much, so that when you even eat something different, it feels like you are "outside the boundaries" of your diet.  And once you feel those boundaries go, binging starts.  You need to allow yourself to eat ANYTHING, but in moderation.  Also, sounds like you could use some exercise, which will allow you to eat more calories and still lose.  Try drinking lots liquids too - water esp. but I find tea helps on cold days.

I agree... it's very confusing.  I just set mine to Sedentary.  That gives me the calories I burn doing nothing (working at my computer all day, like you do).  Then I add on my exercise calories burned (hard walking up and down hills - where does that fit in?).

Is it really Friday again?  What happened to the week?

I'm not sure that it will stay, but my trusty old wiggle-a-few-times-and-take-the-average scale says I lost 2 lbs this week:  SW: 206   CW: 191  GW: 175.   Not sure how that happened as I've been sick this week and not walking much.  Sometimes I think there's a 2 week lag time between what we do and how it appears on the scales!

memphis - how did the week of increased exercise go?

nybanana - I'm about to find out if I also mess up around the numbers ending in zero!

heatherket - welcome!  :-)

erinw43 - I no longer play, but I coach... does that count?  Just finished up with my daughter's 8th grade team.

Have a great weekend everyone- watch out for those empty calories, esp. the liquid kind!

Memphis - I would like to take credit for hiking through the ice and cold, but here in sunny CA it has been tank top & shorts for hiking for the past two weeks.

ErinW43 - I eat to maintenance (1900) and count on exercise for my deficit.  The losing is slow that way, but I don't feel deprived.

TGIF everyone!  Fun to catch up on everyone's news.

I was astonished (and a bit envious) to read about lindsayanne's 36 lb weight loss in the same time it took me to lose 13 lbs.  I bet she has an enviable stomach too, with all that pilates!Smile

Welcome melisaann and mmdeam!

Init - HOW do you maintain on 2500-3000 calories?!  I need to learn that trick for WHEN (not if) I get to maintenance.  Must involve some serious daily exercise!

I'm happy to report that I actually lost 2 lbs this week.  First time I think I've ever actually lost weight in January!  SW: 206   CW:  193 (again Embarassed)   GW: 175.

Had a bit of a laugh this morning at myself.  Rediscovered a birthmark on my back I had completely forgotten about... It was hidden in the back flab fold, which is slowly opening again - LOL!   I guess I should try on bathing suits more often (NOT!)

You need to find the "magic" food that works for your body.  For me it's Shredded Wheat.  No matter how diligent I am with the water, whole grains, etc., I have problems unless I get my morning shreddies.  I eat the Kashi Autumn Wheat 'cause I have a sweet tooth!

Try staying away from artificial sweeteners... those are problematic for me in that dept.

Like gi-jane mentioned, it might just be normal for your body.  Some of us just have slow digestive systems!

Hello All,

Skookum, we're still here, just slow to resume our "normal" lives again after pretending that cheese logs and eggnog have no calories (I ate neither - my weakness has been mince pies and goat cheese on crackers)!

Well, I'm starting the new year at 195 *sigh*.  Thought for a few days there I was going to lightly touch 190 for the new year, but it wasn't to be.  Back to the routine on Monday, so hopefully that will include more reasonable proportions and no late night snacking.  I did well on the exercise, but the eating.... bah!

I'm not one for resolutions, but I do want to continue the trend I started in 2008 - into the dark months we go, when the weight has traditionally piled on instead of melted off.  Glad you are all there to help me through this tough patch.  Happy New Year!

Happy Friday again everyone.  All done with your xmas shopping?  No, me neither!

Still holding steady at 193ish.  It snowed here this week, which is unusual, so it's been difficult to get out and walk.  I think maintaining is what I'm going to try for until after Jan 1.  Anything else seems unrealistic with chocolate and cookies all over the place.

Only 2 more days until the Winter Solstice and then the days start getting longer :-)  I've been such a grump, especially since I haven't been walking daily this week.  Can hardly stand to be around myself and I cry at the drop of a hat (or a really bad rendition of Sleigh Ride at my son's beginning band concert).  This is when I really wish I was Sleeping Beauty - please don't kiss me until March!

Happy Friday everyone.  No loss for me this week, even tho I've walked every day.  All I have to do is look at the food that's going in my mouth to see why!  Very chaotic schedule this month, with evening club basketball practices for both kids that break up the family dinner (on top of daily practices for me and the daughter for the school team).  One more week of that nonsense!  Our school team made the play-offs, and it will all be over next week.. Whew! The coach is ready for a break.

We will be hosting our annual cookie baking party tomorrow.  A bunch of friends come over and bake cookies in our kitchen, and then we all get an assortment.  How many cookies will I eat tomorrow?  Who knows!

I decided to stop ignoring the tendonitis in my heel and ice it... used one of those blue ice packs and damaged the skin - my DH's comment was "Duh... I warned you about that..." Why do I always have to learn the hard way? Embarassed
