Thank you everyone- You've all been great. I will hang in there cos I want this so bad- like all of us. I have an image in my head as to how I wanna look.

I'm just the kinda person who wants everything done now but I know that can't always be the case.

I'm not trying to get pregnant. I'm really not at that stage in my life right now. Its the only reason I can think for me not being able to loose weight.

Even if I wasn't watching what I was eating- the increase in gym activity (2/3 times a week) should help a little right?

I'm just feeling so fustrated that all this effort is going to waste.

Excuse the rant- apologies

good ques!!

I am having this prob with my bf at the mo. I am the one needing to loose weight and he kept making comments to motivate me that actually rele offended me.

I've realised now that personally I respond better if he is encouragin e.g. if he says something like ' wow you stomach is looking a bit thinner' then I am more motivated to go and exercise and i think it is helping. on the other hand if he says ' babe i think ya need to go exercise- you haven't lost much in a while' i think hey this isnt working so give up!

I guess it depends on personality!

yeah I'm feelin very very stressed- not settling in well at home. also, the job is a years placment before I go back to university for my last year and I'm startin to feel down that my life is prob gonna be spent in an office.

Also, thuinkin bout it I have been drinkin a lot more coffee and snackin a bit (not too much but I thought it;d be ok cos I'm not rele eatin much at the mo). On holiday I was happy and relaxed with my family so ate well. Maybe things will settle. Half a stone just seems so much

At the gym I average 60 mins of cardio. On an average day I don't eat breakfast. Have whatever is on offer at the canteen at work and then a light snack for tea as I'm not hungry. I haven't been counting calories for a while but have started again today. I have just moved in with 2 people I don't know and started my first real job.

Any advice welcomed- thank you

I agree with gi-jane, we tend to eat a little healthier over here just cos its how we live. Shopping in markets for local fresh produce is so healthy and cheap. Maybe you have just got in some bad habits in America

Why don't you view your trip like this- you are coming over here to sort the things in your life out that your not too happy with. You can create a new healthier lifestyle without the baggage of your old life. You're going to get fit and healthy and with it more confident and when you get back home in a year you'll e the healthier happier person you want to be and it'll be so much easier to maintain it. You're gonna wow your USA friends and family when you come back after a yr!!! go for it!!! Laughing

congrats on your weight lots!

Personaly, I think that the current worry of eating disorders and health problems has made a lot of people scared. In the UK there is so much info around about eating disorders which means if someone looses a bit of weight people automatically assume they are developing an E.D

Maybe you just need to reassure them that you have done it healthily and am just going to loose a little bit more. Tell them you love your body now and am not disillusioned.

Hope this helps

wow this is cool- although I hate the fact other people go through this it is so good to hear other people say it.

toridl- I totally agree with your statement that 'each time you overcome that 'bad' side of your brain, you become a bit more closer to success'. I think it has to be a small step at a time but thats what I'm aiming for.

I'm a psychology university student and I'm now wondering whether this 'feeling' has somehting to d with hormones ect in the brain? If people with ED and depression has the same tug of war then maybe the same thing is causing it?!

An interesting one to do my dissatation on?!?!?

I agree, babe you should stop counting. You sound like you do too much exercise lol!!! Maybe your even not getting enough calories for all the exercise you do so your body is keeping as much fat as possible cos it thinks your starving yourself.

I found at that age that as long as I was exercising and eating when my body said it wanted to eat (but healthy things!!!) than it sorted itself out.

You need to train your body to burn fat efficiently ect so give it the food it needs and keep up your exercising and you'll do fine

trust me, you don't want to start counting now!!! It just gets worse as you get older so cut yourself some slack girl and don't give yourself extra life pressures by counting!!

PS You look beautiful btw. A very pretty girlie!!
