Abstinence! Haha just kidding. I never had any problems with weight gain on Ortho Tri-Cyclen (or its comparable generics). |

| Weight Loss | Diet Soda?? | Jun 02 2009 20:41 (UTC) |

A couple years ago I stopped drinking diet soda and was at my skinniest weight. I then went back to drinking a couple cans a day and my weight ballooned. I stopped drinking it last month and again I am starting to see weight loss, especially in my midsection where I tend to pack on the most weight. In my skewed perception of things I tend to believe the rumor is true to some degree. But you have to realize that when someone is cutting out diet soda they typically are making other lifestyle changes as well that can contribute to weight loss.

UGH! So over the weekend I weighed myself and I was 129 lbs...first time in 2 years I've seen numbers in the 120s (ok I realize 129 is barely cutting it for the 120s but still, it really boosted my confidence). This morning I weighed myself and I was back to 130. The 130 trap has hit again! |

I am sorry things aren't going well for you. All aspects of life are difficult and the process of losing weight can make things especially stressful. Its easy to get impatient with weight loss, I've been there. Losing weight is extremely hard work and it takes a lot of self control. By losing 27 lbs in 2 months you've shown great strength. Despite your current weight, losing 27 lbs is a great accomplishment and it is something to be very proud of! I really hope that people are not putting you down for your weight, especially since you've made such great progress. If they are, I suggest you surround yourself with people who deserve your attention. You are doing the best that you can and if they can't accept this they don't belong in your life. Good luck and I hope things get better for you. Try not to let the negative thoughts get in the way of your weight loss. You are doing so well! |

Have you introduced any new foods into your diet? Any new medications? Have you started using a new lotion or different clothes detergent? Does the rash itch at all? In your picture the rash looks flesh colored, is it pinker or redder than that in person? It looks to me like hives from some type of allergic reaction. Possibly could be eczema/psoriasis. I would recommend keeping the area clean and trying Benadryl, if that does not ease the rash/symptoms see your doctor again.

I get crazy chocolate cravings during that time of the month. I am a vicious monster without my chocolate. In order to calm the beast, a couple days ago my boyfriend made an emergency trip to the nearest convenience store and bought me an assortment of chocolaty items. Sadly, I consumed nearly all of them in one sitting. I had: - 1/3 pint Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream - One bag of Reeses Pieces - One Hostess cupcake - One Chocolate Hostess Donette My only regret was that the Donette wasn't chocolaty enough. |

Another weigh-in for me. I am still at 133 lbs but I've lost an inch and a half around my waist and an inch around my bust. Hopefully the bust weight loss will stop there lol. Doe anyone have any recommendations for a good scale? I am using my Wii Fit scale right now and it would be so much simpler to use a normal scale.

Original Post by desert_rose: Thanks for letting me join! When I got down to 123 lbs I was very active and paid very close attention to my diet. I know this sounds weird, but I think removing diet soda from my diet played a large role. I had been a heavy Diet Coke drinker before I got serious about losing weight and got down to 123. I also avoided sugar, red meat and simple carbohydrates. Exercise really helped too. Everyday I would start my morning with a long walk (sometimes jogged for part of it) before I ate breakfast. I would also go to the gym 3-5 times a week in the evening. I would never miss a morning of walking though. Fast forward to 3 years later and I am back guzzling the Diet Coke and am 11 lbs heavier. I have really been working on my diet the past 3 months and have had little results. I think the key to my weight loss will be to increase my activity and stop the soda. |

| Weight Loss | Thinking about taking diet pills? | May 03 2009 17:51 (UTC) |
|
About 6 months ago I felt hopeless about my weight and decided to get Hydroxycut pills to help speed up my weightloss. In the back of my mind I knew that it would be a waste of time/money but I went ahead and bought them anyway. I was drawn in by Hydroxycut's before/after pics and claims. I took the pills for 2 days and couldn't handle it any longer. My eyes were completely dried out, I had constant dry mouth and I got flank pain (where my kidneys were). I looked up some of the individual ingredients online and the side effects were quite scary. The symptoms I got made me question if the pills could lead to kidney problems so I stopped taking them. Hopefully my limited use didn't do any permanent damage. It doesn't surprise me that cases of liver failure have been linked to Hydroxycut. Thank you so much skookum for posting this article. I hope people stay away from these dangerous pills. |

Wow, I really wish I would have seen this thread when it started because it completely fits my situation. I'm 5'5" and have been stuck in the 130s for years. My highest weight has been about 145 and my lowest was 123. I miss being in the 120s! Right now I weigh 134. Bust=37", Waist=29" (so bloated!), Tummy=35", Hips=38", Thighs=21" I feel like a giant ball of chunk. I would love to be in the 120s again. |

| Weight Loss | Calories burned while working? | Mar 19 2009 04:30 (UTC) |

I think that's accurate. I am a nurse and am on my feet for 11 hours out of the 12.5 hour shift I work and burn about 1900 calories per shift. The website below allows you to select different activities and calculates the expenditure based on your weight in kg and the time you've performed the activity. http://www.dietandfitnesstoday.com/calories-b urned-by.php?search=standing To find your weight in kilograms just divide your weight in pounds by 2.2. |

Thanks everyone for the information. I can't wait to try some of these foods out! I'm not a vegetarian and I do understand that I need a portion of fat in my diet but after entering my meals in I find that my diet often times is about 40% fat, 50% carbs and only 10% protein. Not very balanced, and I wondered why I had high cholesterol at only 24 years old. Thanks everyone for the great examples :) |

I work nights so my eating patterns are a little weird. I don't have traditional breakfast food much anymore...lots of times I'll have breakfast for dinner. Ah its just strange. Can't wait to move to day shift.
Snack: apple chunks microwaved with cinnamon and splenda Lunch: baby carrots and half a turkey (from leftover roast) sandwhich on whole wheat bread with some canola mayo and cranberry sauce Snack: no sugar added hot chocolate Dinner: its going to be brown rice and kidney beans (sounds gross but I have a strange craving for really plain food right now) |

A couple teaspoons of splenda and some berries does the trick for me. I like keeping the yogurt on the tart side though. Maybe a little bit of vanilla flavoring mixed in would help? |

You could be hypoglycemic (have low blood sugar). Try to balance your diet so that it is high in fiber, fruits, vegetables and complete, lean proteins. A diet high in fiber helps prevent low blood sugar. Here's a page I found for a hypoglycemia diet: http://www.gicare.com/pated/edtot19.htm

| Weight Loss | Women, 5'6", I have a question for you. | Nov 30 2008 00:41 (UTC) |
|
I'm 5'5.5" and have a small frame. I weigh 134 and fit into a size 6. Some places I can get away with size 4 but thats because I am part of the no hips/ass phenomena. It really depends on the clothing maker though. I don't think weight is the best indicator of clothing size, as everyone has a different composition of muscle, fat and bone, all with varying weights. |

| Weight Loss | If I'm going to a bar or two later, should I eat less during the day? | Apr 06 2008 05:58 (UTC) |

Liquor, depending on the type has a lot less calories than beer. So it sounds bad, but whenever I go out I get liquor. Rum and diet coke is a good option, depending on the rum you chose. Also vodka and soda water is good, even the flavored vodka drinks usually run you about 65-95 calories. I wouldn't recommend not eating before drinking. Just another piece of info, your body processes alcohol as if it were a sugar or carbohydrate so its good to balance those carbs with some protein. Its hard to get a healthy lean protein with bar food though. |
