Well, I've been having some stuff going on and of course I turn to food.  Honestly, I'm really too afraid to weigh myself because I will get depressed.  I have been eating bad and not working out.  I started on South Beach on Monday and will start exercising next week.  I'll weigh in next week.  Everyone seems to be doing great.  Good job!

Is it too late to join?? I have 10-15 lbs to go and also got way off track after the holidays otherwise i would have only had about 5 lbs to go.  :(

Here's my stats:

25 years old - 5'6" -

Current weight - as of wednesday - 157lbs

I really wish i could get to the low 140's!

I'm currently doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women workouts - its a great book if you are looking for a good strength training routine - you should give this book a try.

Definetely not too late to join!  I think I'm going to order the book.  I've been thinking about it for a while but lifting intimidates me but I really want to get more toned!

Hi everyone. I have also lost it since christmas and think that this is just what I need to get me back on the straight and narrow! My stats are

Age 43

Weight 144lbs - currently my highest ever and don't ever want to come back to this weight!

Difficulty - juggling work, commitments and taking children to various activities leave little time to plan healthy meals or exercise.

Is 1200 calories too low?

1200 is pretty restrictive but still ok.  Just don't go below that or else your metabolism is affected.  I was on a 1200 calorie diet for several months although I didn't have much energy!

Well this is definetely a bad day for me.  I've been watching what I eat, I will admit not as good as I should be but still good and working out 4 times a week.  I've gained 2 lbs.  I'm so frustrated.  I'm really going to trim my calories this week and will probably add in another workout to see some results by next week.

Weekends are the hardest for me too, especially on holiday weekends when everything is based on food.  I had a horrible weekend but tomorrow I will get back on schedule.  I did go have a good workout saturday morning because I knew we were going to be eating good Saturday night.  I also allow myself a cheat day, but this was more like a cheat weekend!  Hope everyone had a good V-day weekend!

Hey everyone,

Ok I missed the weigh in last week.  Work has been crazy, i'm in the middle of applying for grad school, and I've been having some family issues.  I will admit that I have been eating so bad and not exercising.  I started my real diet and exercise plan on Monday.  I've been doing good, though I will admit it is really hard eating grilled chicken and vegatables when my boyfriend is eating fried pork chops and macaroni and cheese!

This week- 171 :(   but for two weeks of binging I guess it's not so bad

Hi everyone- so here is my official information for the first weigh in.  I did start my diet and exercise on Monday.  I'm not drastically cutting my calories, I'm sticking between 1200-1500 because I don't mind if I lose the weight slowly.

Jencalbear- Yes, the dreaded freshman fifteen.  Mine was more like the freshman 25, lol.  At least you're doing something about it.  I know its hard but the thing that works the best for me is planning my meals.  I always have smart snacks (i.e. dried fruit, nuts, healthy granola bars) in my purse.  You really have to avoid temptation.

Hi everyone, well today I officially started my diet after a weekend of bingeing (I know, I know).  I didn't weight myself today because honesly I'm scared of the number and wanted to get a couple days of good diet and exercise behind my belt.  I fear that my last ten lbs has quickly turned into my last fifteen lbs.  I guess we'll have to wait and see.  See you on Wednesday for the weigh in.

It honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Don't get me wrong, it sucked not eating for two weeks but your hunger actually goes away after the first three days or so.  If your interested let me know and I'll give you a more detailed account that I'm sure not everyone here wants to hear.  I also had a diary of the good, the bad, and the ugly of the diet that I can share.

So I'm off of the master cleanse.  I actually got to eat yummy spring rolls today, so that made me very happy!  Overall, it was a great experience and I've cleansed myself of all cravings.  In two weeks I lost 15 lbs, so that was good too!

I have a resolution that I want to meet before the new year starts. I want to weigh 150 pounds..  I started out weighing 235 pounds November 07 and since then I have managed to get down to 178 pounds. I seem to be stuck at that weight now and it's driving me crazy! I need all the support and advice I can get. I want to lose these last 26 pounds before January 1st.. Is it possible??  I'm so close to finally reaching my goal but I am at a stand still. I'm at the point of desperation guys!

Wishing you all the best in your weight loss ventures!

Sounds like you are at a dreaded plateau.  I know it is frustrating but keep pushing.  Whenever I hit a plateau I always increase my workouts.  I know it sucks but you're body needs that extra push.   Also, I'm not sure what you're eating plan is like but if you're not doing it already try mini-meals 5 times a day.  If you are already doing that change what you are eating and the times that you are eating.  If you're anything like me, I'm a creature of habit so I eat the same thing at the same time everyday.  A plateau makes me have to change that.  Lastly, I hope you are giving yourself a cheat day.  It's the only thing that saves my sanity!

Anybody else have any other suggestions?

Hi all, I'm on day 11 of the master cleanse.  I'm so excited that I made it this long.  I think I'm going to do 14 days.  I feel so much better than I have in such a long time.  My energy level is great and I just feel terrific.  Don't let the weight loss fool you, some is water weight and I'm sure I'll gain some of it back.  But nevertheless I still feels good to be so close to my goal of 25 lbs on this thread.  I'm going to stay on a vegetation/fish diet for at least two weeks while I'm all cleaned out.  Hope everyone has a great week!

The Master Cleanse is a toxin eliminating cleanse, I think it started in the 1960s.  It is also called the lemonade diet, but I stress that it is a cleanse not a diet.  You really have to be in the right frame of mind to do it.  All you get to intake is a lemonade drink made out of fresh organic lemons, organic raw maple syprup (I choose to use agave nectar instead), and cayenne pepper.  Somehow, it cleanses your intestines and help heal injuries.  You do it for a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 40.  The whole time you don't get to eat anything.

I really like it.  I chose to do it because I wanted to get rid of all the crap I've put into my body.  The artifical sweetner, processed foods, and stuff I try not to remember.  I'm on day 8 and am going to go 14 days.  I feel great.  The first few days are hard but the hunger goes away and all cravings are eliminated.  Weight loss is only a side effect for me as I know when I start eating again, I will gain some of it back.   I still have enough energy.  I'm actually off to yoga right now!

I started the master cleanse on Saturday and was up a couple of lbs before I started.  As on Saturday morning I was 177.  Today is the end of my 4th day and have been losing around 1 lb a day.  It is mostly water weight but at least I'm cleansing out my system.  Just wanted to check in.  Hope everyone is doing well and if my willpower stays strong I will still by on the cleanse next week but I'll check in!

I was doing sooo good before going to my friends bachlorette party this weekend.  Exercising, eating right but that all came to end with a road trip of fast food, drinking, and lots of cake!  Oh well, I still lost a lb.  After a lot of research and consulting with my dr I decided that I am going to do the master cleanse.  I want to get all the junk that I've put in my body out.  I'm starting it on Saturday and am planning on continuing on it for 10-14 days.  I'll check in next week but my numbers are going to be really off since I will be losing a lot of water weight.  Good luck this week!

Well I'm finally back in the swing of things and life is getting back to normal.  I stayed on a 1200 calorie diet this week (minus my cheat day) and upped my exercise routine.  In addition to my 60 minutes of cardio/15 minutes of stregnth 4 times a week I added in a Zumba class (I've never been so sore after a workout) and a yoga class.  This weekend I'm heading out of town for a bachlorette party and plan (and i stress plan) on being good.  I'll probably have a couple glasses of wine but thats it for me.  My goal is to lose 1 lbs next week.

Everyone is telling me the same thing, but just like you I need to lose about 15 more lbs to get into the healthy bmi range.  I'm not doing it for vanity reasons, I just want to be healthy.  At first, it bothered me but now I just let it slide off my back.  Everyone from my family, my friends, my co-workers say I need to stop becaues I'm too skinny (which I think is hilarious because I'm still considered overweight!)  Just remember you are doing this for you, not anyone else and you seem to have the right intentions in mind.  Keep up the good work!

Ok, well its been about three weeks since I've been on a steady diet and exercise routine and in that time I gained 2.5 lbs.  I am about to have a visit from my monthly friend, so I'm hoping thats at least a little bit of the weight gain.

My goal for next week is to lose 2 lbs.

Hmking, you poor thing.  I hope you get electricity back today!  My restoration date was also today but I got it back a little early.  I can't believe U of H had school back in session so soon.  I work at UT and we didn't have to come back to work until last Thursday and the students didn't have to come back until today.  Isn't it sad how we have come to regard Centerpoints stupid little grid of zip codes as our bible?  I swear I looked for the updates like 10 times a day!

I'm sure the scale won't be that hard on you.  It's only been a week and you've been exercising.  You will be fine!

P.S.- You look itty-bitty in your new picture!  You're only a few more lbs to your goal.  Congrats on your progress so far!!!

So as I'm sure you heard, hurrican Ike hit houston.  I just got power restored today!  Having no power you start to eat food you really shouldn't.  Then seeing all the destruction, I binged again.  I did a 48 hour fast so I can get rid of all my cravings and will start back on my 1200 calorie diet tomorrow plus exercise.  I don't even want to know what I weight but I do promise to weigh in on Tuesday.  I hope its not too bad!!!

First of all, staying on a diet is hard while you are on vacation!  I stayed good for a couple of days and then it was all downhill from there!  The first night, I went on a job and almost died just jogging a quarter of a mile.  I had the worst asthma attack of my life.  Stupid altitude.  So, then I thought I would just walk, well that only lasted two more days.  I'm pretty sure I ate my weight in chocolate in about a week and ate more fried, greasy good than I have in the last year.  After a long 18 hour drive home, I couldn't get it together on Sunday and binged some more.  But now I'm better.  I started back counting calories and exercising yesterday and lost some of the water weight I was holding onto.  Hopefully next week I can get back to where I was before I left.

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone had a good week.  I definetely struggled this week (I blame it on pms) but I guess I should be used to that.  I wanted to hit 175 by my vacation and I'm only ounces away!  In my mind, I have until Friday morning when I leave for vacation to hit my goal!  I don't know if I'm going to weigh in next week while I'm away.  Still deciding...

Nicci, you are so right.  Slipping back into bad habits is the easiest thing to do.  I usually allow myself a cheat day but have cut that out recently because I just want more, more, more bad food!

I would not be able to cut out caffeine!  I did stop drinking soda (even diet coke) but I switched over to green tea.  It still give me a little caffeine boost (although it's minimal) plus it's supposed to boost your metabolism and you get all those great anti-cancer antioxidants.  You may want to think about something like that.

Good job on your weigh-ins everyone!!!
