Ooooo--yes--the Blizzard commercials kill me.  Also, any commercial panning over a nice juicy burger...ugh. Like those disgusting Carl's Junior commercials----I don't even like fast food, and think the images of people eating the burger's in their ads are gross, but the burger images themselves make me crave burgers for at least an hour afterwards....

Weight Loss Why can't they come out with a calorie scanner!!!? May 30 2008

Actually, I heard there is some program (it might be part of a research study and not rolled out to the public yet???...I can't remember), where you use your cell phone to take pictures of your food, then send them in regularly to a site where nutritionists anaylze the calorie and nutrient content---so your "science-fiction"-type idea isn't too far away....

Maintaining is anyone out there 5'8" and maintaining at 141? May 26 2008

Smowfence, that's funny.  I AM up a bit this weekend... How did you know? ;o)  And me too--when I first hit my current weight (141-2ish), several co-workers were telling me I was getting too skinny...

Yes, sounds like we're about the same--I'm 5'8" and am maintaining at around 142-145, after losing about 30 pounds.  I weight myself daily--otherwise the weight seems to slowly creep back on.  Plus, I'm trying a new approach this time by setting 145 as my "do or die" weight, where I go back into high "discipline mode" if I reach or pass it.  I'd LOVE to be around 135, but I think 140-142 is more realistic for me to maintain over the long haul.

YES!  This happens to me often. I hate it--but comforting to hear others experience it too.  My BMI is healthy (between 21-22) and I'm not extreme with my diet or exercise in anyway.  But I am considered "thin" by those around me.  Little do they apparently realize that I'm "thin" BECAUSE I work very hard EVERY DAY to fit in exercise (an hour 6 days per week) and eat healthy (lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, reasonable portions, limited snacking, limited sweets and junk, etc).   Its a sad statement that "healthy eating" and regular physical activity is so far out of the norm for so many people these days.  Maintaining a healthy weight requires constant diligence in the current environment we live in....

Weight Loss 5'8" females, what is your final weight goal? Apr 21 2008

I'm between 5'8" and 5'9," with a small-to-medium frame.  In July, I started at close to 170 and am now down to a 140-145 hover.  I like where I'm at.  Being perfectly honest, I would love to be 135, but its ALWAYS been very difficult for me to break 140 and stay there--to do it, I have to get into freaky eating and exercise mode.  Not healthy.  I'm going to keep going with my healthy eating and exercise habits and see what happens, but  I think my body's telling me I'm not meant to be that low.

Weight Loss Doeas your husband/boyfriend encourage you? Apr 16 2008

In concept my husband is supportive--sort of... He's happy for me that I was successfully able to lose 30 pounds. He never complained about my heavier weight at all. He's impressed with my dedication to exercise. But he definitely thinks my eating habits are now "boring" and strange.  He hates it when I ask for healthier substitutions at restaurants.  He thinks its weird when I express concern about limiting cheese, butter, and mayo on things. And he definitely doesn't like it when I ask him not buy junk food or sweets---which he does anyway---all the time.  Today I came to find an apple fritter, chips and cookies.  On Saturday, he bought a piece of red velvet cake from a local bakery--I happened to notice the calorie content: 940 calories for the SLICE!?!  I said "This has more than 900 calories"--just stating a fact, not passing judgement, not telling him not to eat it.  And he was mad at me for the entire rest of the weekend and into Monday for "ruining" his fun.  <sigh>  The food part has been a challenge.
