Weight Loss diet pills? Apr 09 2009

Original Post by glitterbug1981:

Right now im on Alli and its not really a diet pill it dosnt speed up your heart or make you feel so shakey. I have lost a good amount of weight on it and it really works i didnt think it was going to but the 1st time i took alli and stuck to the program i lost like 30lbs and worked out a little but then some things came up and i just quit and now im back on it i've been on it since the 17th and so far i've lost 11lbs thats good for me i think so far. Just check into it

Alli is a diet pill, look at the their website.

Like all diet pills, they may work while you take it, but as soon as you get off them, you gain the weight right back and in some cases you gain even more.  It screws your metabolism.  Easy off, easy on.

If you are a person who needs fast results, just remember, the slower it comes off, the more likely it is to stay off.. do it for the long run!

Motivation darn weekends! Feb 03 2009

I have the same problem!  As easy the weekdays are for me is as hard the weekends are!  I barely go out to eat on the weekdays because everything is preplanned.  Weekends are a different story bc my fiance loves to go out and most of my friends do too!  We also end up going out Friday and Saturday night to the bars which I try to avoid (but again is very hard).

I noticed though, working out first thing in the morning very helpful on the weekends too.  This way, you are already somewhat cautious and are not in the mindset of a vacation (like I am).  Also, I try to log on to CC on the weekends and log everything I eat AND drink.  This is so hard, but someone suggested it to me, and the weekends I do it, I am SO good!

I think I am going to log this weekend and be very cautious.  One weekend at a time. :)

I have 'failed' to log onto this site for the past few months.  I give 100% credit to this website for losing the 25 pounds that I have lost this year.  Then as I got closer to my goal, I was less strict and tended to to treat myself more than necessary- I blame that on the compliments I started receiving.  Thankfully, what I logged today was not too far from my last one in Sept.  But I really want to reach my goal and be healthy.  I am glad I stumbled on this my first day back in search for motivation.

gi-jane- you hit the nail right on the head!  Your post is very motivating and true!!  I am back on and I use this site to record everything, measurements, exercises/workouts, calories, food and I count on this site and the people on this site to keep me healthy!

So stripes, lets do this.. If I can do it, so can you!  Laughing

Olivia- Good ideas!! I will try munching on veggies so I dont get tempted to eat pizza! O GOD!  I think I need to start being more accountable on the weekends.. since I have started on CC, I have yet to log onto cc on the weekends.. I will def start this weekend, it will probably help me control myself more :)

Yay! Its seems like everyone had a pretty good loss this week! Congrats!

I hope I am down some for next week :\

I agree with Shauna! Olivia, if he's not helping, then he's hurting you!  Emotional eating for me is a hinder too, but now, I try to make myself think, consciously, that I will feel worse eating and feel better if I go for a run or to the gym.  It somewhat helps.  :)

Today's weigh in!

140.0!  I havent lost in 2 months, but I did some damage, I think I finally balanced it out.. hopefully its all downhill (on the scale of course) from now..

I need to get through the weekend without drinking!! yikes!  How did everyone else do??

Good morning everyone!

Olivia- CONGRATS!!! You accomplished so much!!

My weakness is alcohol.. not daily, just on the weekends but it sucks.. I semi-stopped for 3 months, lost 20 some pounds and now, i've become less strict with myself, which means, the weekend totally negates me being good during the week.  I am setting a goal this weekend to not drink at all.

My motivation is just being healthy and looking/feeling better about myself! plus, i love the compliments.. :)

Hi Shauna! Count me in! I've joined these in the past and if ppl stay on, I find it so helpful! My stats are similar to yours :)

I'm 23 yrs..

5'4

I started CC at 163! So I consider myself 'half way there'.  I dont think I necessarily want to lose 20 pounds.. but my goal is 135-130 ish, I guess we'll see when I get there..

Weigh in Fridays is PERFECT!

Elliptical does burn a lot of calories, but nothing beats the treadmill! Have you tried having the maximum on the incline and walking at a reasonable pace?  I do that for one mile and burns just the same as running with no incline.   The incline makes is higher intensity..and the added plus is I am not scared of flying off the treadmill bc you are at a walking pace.

Yes, oatmeal raisin is the better of two evils!.. I dont go into the kitchen when I see something on the table! haha! my will power is not strong enough to see it and not eat it. :)  Yea, I made a salad for lunch with the works, so I am looking forward to it! :))  How about yourself?

You can google running and you will find great websites that show you how to run! That's what I did because I had the same fear.  Now I am very conscious to follow the standards, ie. back straight, arms swing at hips, etc.  I think you can take whatever strides you feel comfortable with, even if small, hey, at least your moving! :)   Did you ever try the elliptical?  I lot of my gym friends LOVE it!  I dont particularly like it, but its hard to 'do it wrong'.

Its only 11.42 and I am STARVING! ah!

good morning!

Noelle, I just read your post and felt so sad.  It reminds me of how I used to be.  But sooner or later, hopefully sooner, you really just have to face it head on and go do something by yourself.  Gym is a great start! I started with the mall.  I LOVE to shop alone, actually I prefer it now! With regards to the gym, trust me, everyone is so busy with themselves feeling so self-conscious, they are not looking at you! I run, and the whole time and so worried about falling off that I dont see whats going on around me.  I probably shouldn't admit this, but I will anyway- my gym has the cardio upstairs overlooking the weight machines, so I try to focus in on one the girls with the 'perfect' body, wearing shorts and just a sports bra, showing off rightfully so, her hard worked abs (every gym has at least one).  So while I'm running and I am focusing on my (extreme) goal in the face.

I hope you can find the courage and do it, bc you deserve to enjoy your life!! I mean you only have one to enjoy and its all yours!

safina- any luck getting to the gym yday?

Congratulations to both of you! Its great to count calories! Its the best way to lose weight!

I went last night and it was great.  I dont like running per se, but I absolutely love the high after I run a few miles.  I get some kick out of it! LOL.  I am aiming to lose around 5-7 lbs this month, that would be great! But as i get closer to my goal, the pounds get more stubborn!

How are you guys doing today?

Hello! I am heading back to the gym today after 2 months! Before that, I was going 5 days a week and lost some 20 lbs! I still would like to lose 15-20 more, so I guess I'm at the halfway point.  I am so excited about going back! I love to run and have missed it for awhile.

Growing up, my older sister always weighed less than me; she has a fast metabolism and was always very thin.  Since she had her baby, the fam would tease her about her weight because it didn't magically come off as she/I thought it would.  To encourage her to lose weight, I suggested we do a challenge and we would bet on who can lose the most weight (in a healthy way of course) in 2 months.  When we got on the scale, I was 8 pounds heavier than her!  That was my wake up call.  That was end of March.  Since then I have lost some 18 pounds, won the challenge and weigh less than her *sigh*.  I am only half way to my goal weight, but I feel so much healthier, happier and lighter.

Here's to living the life**

My dad once said to me that he congratulates anyone strong enough to be on a diet. As it has been scientifically prooven to be the hardest thing to give up, harder than smoking, drinking and drugs. Because your body craves junk! When we dont even need it.

Scientifically proven to be the hardest thing to give up.   How is/was that possible to scientifically prove?  Where did you read or learn that?  Do you have a reference to such a statement?

General statement: you should not criticise someone who has fallen, unless you are helping them up.

I am in as well! This sounds like a great idea.  I am 5'4 ish, 152 pounds (down from 163), and my goal is 130.  Ideally I would like 125, but I'll see how I feel and look once I get there.  I haven't been there for years!  So we will weigh in on Fridays, starting tomorrow, the 9th?

Thanks for starting this thread!

Fitness Does doing cardio constitiute a "workout"? Apr 18 2008
16:01 (UTC)
Original Post by hgielrehtaeh:

I don't think the OP was bashing walking around the block as valid cardio. I think that he's trying to say he doesn't view cardio as a workout. Which can be difficult for guys...I know a lot of men who don't really consider cardio to be a workout. They think of working out as lifting. Whereas a lot of girls I know think of cardio as a workout but not lifting.

FYI- OP is a woman.

Anything that gets me sweating and my heart above 130 is a workout for me. Albeit, I sweat rather easily, but I guess its all based individual body.

Weight Loss If you could offer ONE piece of advice you've learned the hard way to someone, what would it be? Apr 18 2008

I haven't lost too much yet around 6-7 lbs, but I got great advise from my cc friend and it motivates me everyday:

'For a moment, put the thought of weight loss out of your mind. You just spent the past week living a healthy lifestyle. You were exercising almost every day and not going overboard on food. That's fantastic!

Everybody's body is different. The weight will come off - you just have to be patient. The "slow going" part you're dealing with right now is setting you up for an easier time once the weight is gone. You'll have been doing this for so long that it will be a breeze to continue your lifestyle change.

DON'T GIVE UP!! Just take one day at a time :) :)'

Oh my God I just got so upset and angry reading this. I don't know why you're tip toeing around your ex. I would call 911 and send an ambulance to where they are RIGHT NOW. Forget lawyers and the police. Send medical help IMMEDIATELY. Tell them you got a call from your daughter and the phone got disconnected and you are CERTAIN they need help. I'm so serious. Please do this. **** this guy and **** whatever uncertainties you have. These are your kids and they were in a serious accident.

PICK UP THE PHONE RIGHT NOW.

I just read this thread and I cant believe your ex is such a moron!  Moreover, I cannot believe you let your precious children go with him without any information as to where they are going, I mean I doubt he turned into a moron overnight.

I totally agree with spiro, you need to get an ambulance to your kids ASAP (the adrenaline should kick in).  Its going to be over a week since the accident, it was no joke, and god only knows whats going on inside their body!  You have full custody, take some action!

Weight Loss what made you fat/gain a lot of weight? Apr 03 2008
15:46 (UTC)

I would love to blame it on College, so I will! College, moved out of my parents house, where I was getting healthy cooking with a lot of veggies, to a place where I have ice cream after EVERY meal!  Towards the last 2 years of college, I gained the most weight.  Drinking caused a lot of it.  Drinking wine, beer, and vodka, all which have a lot of calories!  Then this leads to insatiable appetite at 2am!  I wish I could take it all back, but I can't.  Just trying to purify my body now and its been 2 weeks and no alcohol! :)

I am way more knowledgable now.  I didn't know anything then, I just stuffed my face with anything.  I actually think before I eat and drink now.

Hey kregmo17!  Don't sweat it.  Your body needs a day or two here and there of more calories than the norm intake, so consider that today.  You can just move forward from here.  Hey, at least you went to the gym! That's awesome that you can make it before work!
