Hi! Pingala, totally agree!

 I am 5'6 as well and weigh around 130 right now. I have been trying to get to 125, but it just seems not healthy for me. My body hovers around 130 and when I was 127 for about...2 weeks...I just didn't feel good. My ribs showed alot and my butt was gone! I would say see how you feel at 130. Personally, I think girls our height have crazy low goals for their weight. It all depends on how you look and feel. Right now at 130 I am about a size 4. You will most likely be a 6 or below at 130. Hope I helped a little!

I lost my period and I was not underweight. I lost weight the healthy way and it still happened. I think sometimes your body just needs to re-adjust. I lost it for about 9-10 months. I went to doctor's etc, and then I took matters into my own hands and just began eating more healthy fats. It worked! I think I also upped my calories a little bit. Sometimes restricting too much can be the problem too.

If you are underweight, admit it and gain some. Or cut back on exercising if you are doing too much. Good Luck :)

Ok, well the foods you are eating seem to be good but you are not eating enough!!! You are 15! You should definitely be eating much more than 1200 calories. That is the minimum to survive for a full grown adult. And even  then it is too little.

Try adding something else to your breakfast and lunch so you do not come home ravenous and so you are upping your calories too. And bring another snack to school. I know for me, binging happens when I restrict too much, which is what you are kind of doing. You are still growing and need more fuel for your body. You should probably be taking in 2000+ calories. Try using the tools on this site if you haven't already.

What does a typical day of eating look like for you? Maybe it is your food choices. How many calories are you having and what are your stats?

ahh thanks for your replies everyone! I'll tell ya what. The sandwich was good, but I can't say it would be worth doing again for 1230 calories!! Definitely not a consistant meal for me.

li li- yeah I thought maybe 6 oz. was a lot but I figured overestimating is better than under!

Yeah, its definitely easy to get wrapped up in other people's views. Maybe you just need to think about the issues that are important to you and decide where you stand. Maybe you are more conservative than you thought, or moderate. Just think for yourself and don't let people or the media influence you!

I always eat breakfast at work. I have access to a microwave though. I bring instant oatmeal packets, vitatops, fruit, cottage cheese, yogurt. Not all of these at once, but I vary it!

My moment was when I came home from college and tried on a pair of pants I had in the closet to wear out to dinner. They didn't fit so well, and I thought, hmm maybe its just these pants. I then ripped through the closet and NOTHING fit like it used to. I already didnt like the size I was in, and if I had to go buy the next size up...lets just say I would have cried!

I also saw some pictures of myself after a backpacking trip in Europe and I looked DISGUSTING. Perhaps all the beer, fries, and bread!

 A year and 3 months later I am finally happy! Down 30 lbs and in the size I want (kinda) but are we ever satisfied haha.

Yeah, it just gets hard to go past a certain weight! But I want to! We shall see. I guess sometimes we cannot control the weight loss. Good luck!

Like someone mentioned, I would try something different to eat. I notice that certain foods really effect how I feel during working out. Foods that people swear by beforehand make me feel like crap. So I would just experiment with different things. I know that dried fruit DOES NOT work for me. I feel nausous and tired. Before my long distance runs I would have like waffles or something more carb-y, not so much on the protein.  I think protein should be eaten more after the race. Good luck and I hope you start feeling better. Sounds like a crappy situation.

I weigh them with the core, whole. I didn't even think about the weight of the core...I figured the grams that calorie count says took that into account? But like the above posters have said, eating a few extra grams of an apple won't make you fat. But now you've got me thinking about weighing a core....

I would count your calories and then use the tools here to see how many calories you need. You are most likely not eating enough, especially if you are training for a half marathon! You are burning lots of calories! Your body needs energy. Good luck with the half marathon and training :)

Don't let it get to you!! You are athletic. That is a good thing. Many guys like girls that have a more curvy body. I've played soccer since I was 4 (I am 23) and I played in college as well. I always had big legs and lifted too. My boyfriends always commented how they liked that about me. So please please please do not let this bother you. If he is generally a nice guy, he did not mean it in a bad way. Hey, that means he has been checkin' out your legs right ?? Wink He probably likes them haha.

I have been having the same problem!!! Its terrible. I will plan out my day and then I get home and go crazy at night. I get so full but just keep eating! If I keep this up I will surely be gaining weight! It has been these past few days too..hmm something is up haha.

Well all I can say is one night I felt it coming on and I forced myself upstairs and rinsed my mouth out with listerine. I stayed upstairs for the rest of the night and just watched tv. But sometimes this doesnt work...GOOD LUCK! Hopefully it doesnt happen tonight! Btw I am 23, 5'6'', and around 130.

Aw man, sorry it is going to rain. bummer. When I was training for a half and it would rain I would wear spandex, I had the under armour kind because they are thicker. I wore an under armour mock turtle neck with a shirt over it and then a light shiny jacket to keep me dry. When I got hot I would throw out the tshirt I was wearing. Well, just throw to the side (an old one) And I also wore a dry fit hat because I HATE rain in my face! ugh. I also heard suggestions from others about wicking socks? never tried them but sounds like they would keep your feet dry. GOOD LUCK saturday!!! Don't be nervous! Once you get started the excitement will kick in. I didn't even realize what mile I was on until like 10 and by that point 3 miles is nothing!

Thanks everyone! I was deciding between the salmon and the portobella dish. I decided on the portobella because I wanted some crab plus someone else was getting the salmon so I could taste! Thanks for all your responses.

Meryl- That is a very good idea. The next time I really want something at a restaurant that isn't the best I think I will try that. But I would probably have to pack up the rest right away so I don't eat it all!!

UD- The meal was delicious!! I love mushrooms and crab, so perfect!

Yeah the Chilean seabass...I wasn't sure about it and I was reading all this stuff about it being endangered, so I passed. Thanks again!

Oh my goodness, I LOVE ice cream.

1. I like dairy queen because of the blizzards! But I've been going to a local place, moose mountain creamery because they have low fat. But their regular is really good too.

2. I used to love chocolate chip cookie dough, but now I could eat just about anything lol. Rocky road is pretty amazing too.

3. I am plain when it comes to ice cream. If its soft serve maybe some sprinkles.

4. I used to get cones all the time, but I have been enjoying it in a cup lately :)

For the record, I cannot buy half gallons because I could eat the entire thing in one sitting. Its disgusting. I want to eventually get the vermonster at ben and jerrys. For myself. haha but I'd have to eat it fast because I hate melted ice cream! Now I want chocolate chip cookie dough, or a blizzard!

I love seeing things with my height...

I am 5'6'' and weigh about 130. I would like to eventually get down to 125 but seem to be stuck at 130...sigh. My heaviest was 161 (a year ago). NEVER again. I hope.

The medicine could be having an impact. You should talk to your doctor.

I am 5'6'' and about 128. I was being too restrictive with my calories when I really lost my period. I started eating a bit more too and that helped. I did not gain any weight. I guess I was just eating too little to begin with. Try adding a couple more snacks in to get your calories up a little bit.

I just feel healthier now that I finally got it. So I totally understand when you say it doesn't feel right, because it doesn't.

I lost mine for 9 months and just got it back! I went to the doctor's and got bloodwork, MRI, etc, and during all that I upped my fat intake. I ate a lot of almonds and some more olive oil. Well I got it back on my own and I definitely think it was because of the fat! I lost around 32 pounds since December. So I did it slowly, but I still lost my period. You body needs time to adjust. However, you do seems slightly underweight still...gaining a few pounds would help too! :) Good luck.

I always have late night cravings! I just make sure I have calories left over so I can have a few snacks at night. Rice cakes are a little salty...or I personally love the 100 calorie microwave popcorn bags. Jolly time's are pretty good and I think they are actually 90 cals! Congrats and Good luck.

I would have it for every meal if I could. I do not buy half gallons or anything like that. I make it so I have to go OUT to get it. Sometimes I have skinny cow or ww ice cream since it is portioned out. I have NO control with it! mmm i want some now.

One of these days I want to go to Ben and Jerry's and get the Vermonster....

But to answer the question now...probably 2-3 times a week. Fat free or yogurt.

I saw late night snack and had to post! I love snacking at night, and since I know that, I leave calories for that time. I usually have 100 cal popcorn, an apple, vitatop, pudding, and/or rice cakes with better n' butter. A different variation of those probably every night! Eating that much at night may sound bad to some, but it works for me!

As far as metamucil...isn't that fiber that helps you go to the bathroom? I guess the fiber fills you, but I wouldn't want stomach issues before bed time. (FYI don't eat fiber one bars late, bad stomach issues)

I just ate one! (CranBran) I absolutely love them. They are a little pricey but I always wait for a coupon or something and you at least end up getting shipping free. They are totally worth it. They have become a staple in my diet.

Ok so for 100 calories, it is worth it. I think they are filling (it is all I eat for breakfast and holds me until lunch). They are about the size of...a blue ray disc? maybe bigger. I don't know lol. I actually don't even own a blue ray so that was a bad comparison. But its big enough.

The only flavor I do not care for is the banana nut. The chocolate ones are AMAZING and I recently started eating the more breakfast-y ones and they are good too. Even the brownies are delicious. I keep them in the freezer and just take one out at a time. I pop it in the microwave for about 25 seconds still in the wrapper and then open it up and mmmm eat it slowly. My mom has tried the chocolate ones and does not care for them. She, however, is not very open with "diet" foods. I can honestly not even taste the difference but she can. So I guess it depends on you. Ok..clearly I love them so I am going to stop rambling. Hope this helped!

When I was really trying to lose weight I only drank the light beers (becks light is 64 cals). It worked for me and I drank maybe once or twice a week. It was more the eating afterwards that caused the problems...Now that I am at the end of my weightloss journey I let myself have really good beer from time to time. It tastes sooo much better after being away from it for so long!

So basically, I think its ok just be careful about what you eat after. I got into a habit of having microwave popcorn (the light kind) when I would get home. Instead of pizza, fries..etc.

Yeah, I agree with the above posts. I wouldn't worry. However, if you feel bloated and full still, I would eat fruit for breakfast. Whenever I overeat one day I have fruit for breakfast the next day and it kind of detoxes me and gets my disgestive track  back in order. Just a suggestion Smile

I can definitely relate! I was around 160 and now I am 130. There was a time in the beginning of the summer when I finally felt thin and could look at myself and be somewhat satisfied. Now I am starting to fall back into not liking what I see. I still weigh the same, but now I look at certain parts of me and want to lose more. So, I am sorry for the bad news, but for me it has not gone away yet. It seems to be creeping back...

Nuts, nut butters, peanut butter, beans, tofu. Although you probably eat these and know about these already. Whenever I am under my calories I have some almonds or put peanut butter on rice cakes.
