Hey Gang, Where is everyone? Penny, you're so kind to look after your MIL. I don't know if I'd be able to. Good luck with the meds, I hope that helps you get your metabolism going again. I've been super duper busy for the past 3 weeks. I haven't been journaling, I haven't been eating right, I haven't been exercising either. But I'm going jump back on the wagon and try my best to get in the spirit! |

I too noticed significant hair loss lately! I'm no were near my goal, I'm at 189lbs down from 250 and just in the past few months I've noticed much more hair loss than usual. Even my hair dresser notice my hair was thinner. I used to eat 1500 cals a day but over the summer I stopped exercising so I dropped my cals down to 1200. I wonder if that's why my hair thinned out. Now that the kids are back at school I upped my cals back to 1500 since I can fit in regular workouts again. My hair stylist sold me a new shampoo regimen for thinning hair (Nioxin) I haven't noticed a difference yet, but I'm hoping it helps! |

Penny, it sounds like your hubby is just being a boy...stubborn and a little child-like with the recuperation. :) I have a similar in-law issue. It used to be with my mother-in-law but now it's more with the brother-in-law. Family baloney is no fun! Well, I had a lousy day today. No exercise and too many cookies. I think the binge was because even after being SUPER good for a week there was no movement on the scale. I worked so hard eating right, measuring portions and exercising I was depressed that the scale didn't budge. But, I don't want to let my afternoon of gluttony start the downward spiral again! Maybe I'll go for a walk when my hubby gets home. Stay strong this weekend ladies and if you stay away from the dumplings, I'll stay away from the cookies. Deal? |

Zeema, I love reality tv also, not the contest type stuff, but I watched Jackie Warner's show too. This is the video they made during the filming of the show. It was funny watching the exercise video after knowing all the behind the scenes stuff. I would love to go on a hike. It's the perfect weather for it here in New England. I just have to find a hiking buddy. There is a nice reservoir to walk around nearby but it's no fun to do it alone. I'd do it with my dog, but she's got arthritis :( I had an off day today. I think I wasn't as motivated after the scale refused to budge even after a week filled with exercise and healthy eating. I know that I shouldn't let that get to me, but I crave validation! I hope everyone has a great weekend. Stay strong and keep moving! |

Team: Yellow I didn't know if veggie burgers counted as veggies or not, but if they do then I had another .2 added into my challenge, but no biggie. I'm hoping to see a drop next week. I really ramped up my exercise this week so I was hoping to see some movement on the scale. |

Hey Gang, this place is hopping! Stefanie, congrats on only eating 1/2 the cheeseburger! How many fries did you have? I generally ask for a salad instead of fries but I agree, why order something out that you can make yourself at home? I think that's why I generally go out for sushi...I could never make that! Slimby- I found a core workout On Demand (comcast digital cable) it's by Jackie Warner. It's an excerpt from a video/dvd she sells. I really like it, but it's HARD! Zeema - We never get to Vegas, but that's probably because I have 3 kids...Ha ha. But we do have two big casinos 45 minutes away from our house that we go to a few times a year. (Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun). Tynersgirl, sounds like your keeping very active but no harm in taking a day off if you're in pain. Today was a good day for me. I ate well and finally took a jog outside, for the first time in 4 months! However, I find that after a week of stellar performance (like this past week) I get anxious to see movement on the scale. |

Shana, I didn't try it on yet. I think I'll do it tomorrow morning after all the kids leave for school. I don't want to make a big deal about it. Just a private thing. I'm not PMSing, but for some reason the kids are annoying me to NO END today. They aren't even being that bad, it's just rubbing me the wrong way. However, I do understand about TOM binges and urges to stuff ones face full of anything and everything. The only things that help me are air popped popcorn with spray butter and salt, hot tea and gum. I rotate the three and keep one on hand at all times! I try to do decaf tea so I get lots of water in. I jogged outside today for the first time in about 4 months. It was hard, but liberating. I can't wait to see some movement on the scale. I'm 189 now (I've been bouncing from 189 to 191 for over a month. My lowest recent weight was 186 in July. My immediate goal is to break through to 185! I'm hoping I can do it in two weeks. But that's an aggressive goal for me. Good luck everyone! Jodi |

April, Lol! Yes the statute of limitations has run out. but we're on the right track and even though I'm far from my lowest weight (when I met my hubby I was 150ish) I'm in much better shape now than when I was in HS (my 20th reunion is next week) so belly or no belly I'm still doing something right! We'll all get there eventually we just have to stick with it! So, Thursday is my 9 year wedding anniversary and I'm thinking in honor of the day and my weight loss journey I should try on my wedding dress to see if it fits. Just for haha's. What do you guys think?

Zima - where did you stay in vegas? I've never been but hoping to go next year for my 10 year anniversary. Thursday is our 9 year anniversary. I am hoping by 10 I'll be at my goal weight and can let loose and have fun in sin city! However, I must say your relaxing vegas retreat sounds good too! Lossfast - It's funny, I used to be so self conscious eating out. If I ask for something prepared special or different to save calories I'd get embarrassed or if I ordered "just a salad' I'd think people were thinking "who is she fooling just ordering a salad". Anyway, I finally just decided to order what I really want and what I can't or don't make at home and it turned out that it's usually fish which is generally prepared pretty healthy anyway (grilled or seared). However, all that goes to pot if I have a glass or two of wine with dinner. THen I come home and eat everything. It's amazing how easily wine can derail me! Karen - I do like the Wii Active, but I don't get to do it as much anymore. I was doing a strength training workout on it on days that I didn't jog, but now I'm doing the core thing. I would love to be able to work all three in, but I really think my core needs the most help right now. I had a good, yet busy day. I ate pretty well...should have gotten in a little more protein and water, but I stayed within my calorie range. Tomorrow I'm planning on at least walking if not jogging for about 45 minutes while my daughter is in her speech therapy session. It's been a while since I jogged outside, we'll see how I hold up. It's always harder than on the treadmill. Plus I can't find my ipod. I'm sure one of the kids put it somewhere... Have a great day tomorrow everyone! G'night! PS. I'm not italian just like saying"ciao!" |

Ah, siatica! Yes...I had that... well something similar. sHooting pain from knee down the outside of my calf and foot. It was a bulging disk that was pinching the nerve. A little physical therapy and I was much better. 1 tip is to hold your shoulders back and tuck your bottom under. this posture will help stretch out your back. I try to do it all the tme. I took a break from exercise today...it was a busy day and I was in TONS of pain from pulling something when I was doing a core workout On Demand. I'm a little frustrated...my weight is up 2lbs from last week and I've been exercising almost every day! I'm hoping it's just my muscles retaining a little water to rebuild since I haven't worked them in so long. Keep at it ladies! We can do it!!!! |

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes!!! I needed that! I've been feeling very alone lately which always leads to me eating something I shouldn't. I'm jealous that you ladies are close enough to hike with eachother. THat's great! I tend to do my exercising alone. I can't really afford a gym but I have a treadmill so I either run inside on that or jog around the neighborhood. I have the Wii Active which I was doing for a while in the spring, but this past week I've been doing a core workout instead. It's kicking my but. This morning I could barely move! Lossfast, I've been a full-time working mom and a stay at home mom. I don't know which is harder. honestly they are both a challenge! I look forward to getting to know you all. Have a great afternoon...gotta run to the bus stop! Ciao!

Hey Ladies, how are you all? It sounds like everyone is still in it to win it, even if there are a couple of bumps in the road! I ended up getting a bit off track this summer. I managed to maintain my weight within 5lbs. I'm currently 191 (up from 187 in july) and eager to reach my next big goal of 175. I've been eating well during the week and then messing it up on the weekends. However, I did start exercising again this week and I feel really pumped up! I found a killer ab workout On Demand that I've done twice this week. My "core" is my weakest area. No matter what I've done in the past, my belly still looks pregnant. I never used to be an "apple" but since having kids... mind you my youngest is almost 4 so it's time to get rid of the belly jelly!

Hi There, I hope you don't mind a newcomer! I am looking for a group of positive people who like to post. I don't know if it's the time of year or what but none of the threads I've been a part of lately are active these days. I read that you guys like to post a lot and that's me to a T! I need that camaraderie to keep me going! I've been on CC since March 2008 and I seem to fall into a weird pattern where I lose steadily for 6 months and then plateau for 3 months and repeat. Well, I'm fed up with plateauing and I'm ready to kick it into high gear! I've been working out every day for a week and trying to stay on track with my eating (except of those blasted brownies the other day, ack). I'm a stay at home mom to 3 kids and I am 38 yrs old. I'm currently 191lbs (started at 250+) and looking to hit my next goal of 175 no later than Dec 31st. I generally check in 2 or 3 times a day...to log my food after each meal. I hope to get to know some of you soon! - Jodi |

Nicole, it's Yom Kippur it's a Jewish holiday. It is a day of fasting. I'm not sure what the true "rules" are but I'm only drinking clear liquids today (until dinnertime) and my kids gave up sweets and snacks for the day. I was a little hungry at lunchtime, but now I'm fine. Lipo, congrats on seeing yourself differently. I think this is a MAJOR hurtle for us all to conquer. Even though I still have a lot of weight to lose, I have started to see myself as I truly am, a size 16 not the size 24 I used to see in the mirror all the time. I still have days when I see the old, fat me, but those are getting fewer and fewer. Foffles, congrats on the dress size! Isn't it great! I tried on a pair of boots today at the mall (no eating allowed, but God didn't tell me anything about no shopping...ha ha) and I can never get boots that go all the way up over my calves because they don't fit, but this pair did! I didn't buy them because they were so expensive, but I have a feeling my hubby is going to try to surprise me with them for our anniversary later this week. 9 years! If I can kick this headache I'm going to try to do the Jackie Warner core workout again today. Have a great week everyone. Yellow Rocks! |

niccole, the one I tried was Jackie Warner. The crazy thing is my stomach and side still ache 2 days later!!! I didn't eat well yesterday..I'm going to blame it on the brownies. That is my Achilles heel! Today started out a little naughty, but I got in a 45 minute jog and had a nice salad with chicken on top for dinner. Tomorrow is a holiday where we are supposed to fast for the day. I doubt I'll be able to go all day without eating, but I'm going to try. I'm thinking I'll limit myself to liquids. If nothing else it will be a good cleanse! |

Hey Gang, sorry I've been MIA for a while. I've been getting used to the new routine with the kids back in school and two different soccer leagues, sunday school, etc. I manged to maintain my weight for the past month or two, but now I'm ready to start losing again! I had stopped jogging over the summer, and started up again this week. It's been hard and a little discouraging seeing how quickly I got out of shape. Today I tried to do an "On Demand" core workout and it kicked my arse! I seriously thought I was going to vomit after doing it. I guess that's good, but it didn't feel good at the time! At any rate, I'm hoping to have time to visit more often and want to start weighing in again. When do we do it again? SW: 232 LW: 189.8 CW: 189.4 Goal: 150 |

Ok team, you motivated me to up my game so today (my rest day from jogging) I decided to do an On Demand workout (on comcast tv) and it kicked my ARSE!!! I did a 20 minute "core" workout with that lady from the bravo show "workout"...I can't remember her name but it was SO HARD!!! I did most of it but HOLY COW! I thought I was going to vomit after doing it. If anyone else has comcast and wants to try it, it was called " 1 to 1 Core" under the fitness section of on demand. INSANE! |

Hey Amandief, yes I jog...not fast, but it's been a major accomplishment for me. I used to be able to jog 5K in about 42 minutes. Now it takes me 45 because i took the summer off. But I'm trying to get back into it. I jogged tue & thu and walked wed. Today I took the day off but I know I should try to get some kind of workout in. I might try an On Demand workout after my lunch settles. Bonnie, I hear ya. I gained 4lbs last week due to TOM. I hate how the hormones affect my life. It starts with being bitchy and short-fused then goes to insecurity and then voila, the flow. This month wasn't that bad, but some months! wow! I swear I should be committed for 72 hours just for the safety of those who must deal with my wrath! Last night I binged for no reason...baked ziti and chocolate chip cookies. I didn't even dare get on the scale today, but I'm back on track today. And I'm not going to let the momentary setback toy with my overall motivation! I know weekend are hard for many of us, so stay strong and post if you need help or just someone to talk to! :) Jodi |

I put lots of veggies in my salad...tomatoes, cukes, broccoli, celery. It's about 1/2 lettuce. Fellow apple lovers, I have found the PERFECT substitue for apple pie and crisp and it's delicous! I peel and core 2 apples put them in a bowl, sprinkle them with a little splenda brown sugar blend and cinnamon, then micro it for 3 minutes and top with fat free cool whip! OH MY GOSH is it Good! THat and a cup of tea for dessert makes me feel like I just ate a whole pie! So satisfying :) |

Well TOM is over and so are those 4lbs I saw the other day. I'm .2lbs less than last week, but I earned 1.2 challenge points! I eat TONS of fruits and vegetables anyway, but counting them is going to be the difficult part. Today on my sandwich I had pea sprouts and peppers, but they weren't a "cup" so I don't think they count as anything. But I can easily eat 3 cups of salad each day! |

Yo Yellow! First the good news...I've gotten some cardio in this week! Bad news, I peeked at the scale yesterday (not a good idea...TOM!) and I was up 4lbs! I know that's not possible or that it's water weight because of TOM but seriously it played with my psyche. However, I didn't let it keep me down and today instead of reading a magazine during my daughter's 1 hour weekly appt, I took a walk outside. :) See you all tomorrow at weigh in! Good luck! |

Welcome Nicci and Gmkal. Unfortunately we haven't heard from our founder "Sarah" in a while, but there are still some of us "old timers" around to help and lots of new motivated faces to keep us oldies going! Gmkal, you and i sound like we've got the same stats. I started on CC 1.5 years ago at 230lbs and I'm 5'3" also. Today I'm happy to report that I'm under 200, but not by much! It's taken me a long time, but if I keep my mind to it I can lose about 5lbs a month. When I was heavier it came off faster. So today instead of sitting and reading a magazine during my daughter's 1 hour speech therapy appointment I walked around the neighborhood. It's a baby step in the right direction!

Hey Bonnie, I'm back! It's been a crazy couple of weeks getting used to the new school schedule. Add in hosting the holiday this weekend and my birthday and it's been a little hectic! However, I am happy to report that I FINALLY got off my butt and ran again today. It's the first time I jogged since the beginning of august and it's amazing how hard it was. I used to be able to jog at 4.8mph for 3 miles and this time I walked about .75 miles and jogged only at 4.2 mph for the rest of the 2.25 miles, but I did it! My plan is to jog at least 3 times a week and when I feel confident with that start working some strength training back in on my non-jog days. Bonnie, What happened to your knees? Have you ever done Yoga? there's a class on sunday afternoons at a local studio where you can just drop in for $5 and the money goes to AIDS charities. I'm a little scared to try it, but there's no committment since it's a drop in class. Maybe in a few weeks.... Last weekend was horrible. I went back into eating mode...I ate everything and anything. I'm sure it was hormone related as it's THAT time now. :) Well ladies, I've gotta jump into the shower...I am still all gross and smelly from my jog but I promise to be more active on here. It really helps me stay focused, which I have not been lately! Good luck! |

Original Post by foffles: This weekend was my birthday as well! I decided that I was going to have my cake and eat it too! I haven't gotten on the scale yet but I'm guessing the canoli cake (yes it was a cake with canoli filling between the layers) will show up on the scale tomorrow, but I'm committed to BLC 13 and I'm going to rock it out from now on! |

Oh my! I had a "cake issue" as well this weekend. IT was my birthday and my hubby bought the best cake I have ever tasted (canoli cake) and I knew that after the weekend I wanted to get back on track, so instead of throwing away the leftovers (which I usually do) I ATE IT ALL!!!! And it was GOOD! But now I'm back on track and will never let that cake back in my house again! |

Katie, I do the SAME THING! In fact this past weekend was my birthday weekend and I knew we were going to start celebrating on Friday (even though birthday wasn't until Sunday) so then I just figured I might as well take a few days off. And I did...4 days of gluttony! And you know what? I really got it out of my system! Now I WANT to eat healthy...like Bonnie said. I'd rather eat a salad and feel good than cake and feel lousy. And I'm not talking about feeling guilty...I let go of that a long time ago (which was a HUGE step in my weight loss journey) but physically I felt bloated and sluggish and achy. When I eat better I feel better! So, I'm official back on track...Amandief...no more bouncing around for me! I'm going to do it. Realistically I can lose about 5lbs a month...so my goal is to lose 15 by Christmas. I know I can do it! You all can too!

Hey Gang, welcome new friends! I started at over 250 2 years ago and this thread has been a great source of comfort and support during my LONG journey to Onderland! Bonnie, if you click on "community" and then "my posts" it will show you all the last places you typed. That's how I keep track of the threads I like. You continue to inspire me my dear! This summer has been a wash for me. I've been gaining and losing the same 5 lbs for 3 months now and I think I'm finally ready to kick it into high gear again and drop some weight! I went to an amusement park on labor day weekend with my brother, his wife & kid plus my crew...my bro took some photos and Bonnie, like you, I didn't shutter when I saw the photo of myself. I actually thought "not too bad!" I know it's a far cry from "I look Fabulous!" but it's a step in the right direction. Yeah, can you believe those before photos of me? My own Aunt who TOOK the photo of me at my heaviest didn't believe it was really me. How funny! Good luck to all you newbies to the thread. There's no trick or magic potion...(frankly I don't like gastric bypass as an option because it doesn't work long term for most people) it's just a long and hard process of retraining ourselves to life our lives differently...eat less and move more and learn to love yourself for who you are! |
