Sorry I haven't been on here in awhile. I am feeling a lot better since I last posted.
pg-I am having the same problem you did-I keep gaining weight even though I've created a deficit with my calorie intake and my excercise. I think I've gone to the gym everyday since saturday to work off 300-600 calories. And two of those days I consumed enough food to make me even with what I burned off that day--yet my weight has gone from 139 to 141.5! WHat the hell?! So today I am going ot go running outside for 45 min in hopes I will see a deficit tomorrow.
Because I'm a poor grad student, I can't afford to fly home for thanksgiving, so instead I will be eating lobster with my friend (they were 6.99/lb)with light sides for my thanksgiving. I hope the rest of you are able to have a wonderful turkey day! |

This weekend is mainly going to consist of spending time and lab and studying. I want to run outside, but I haven't run in this cold of weather since i did "indoor track" in high school. I will most likely end up taking a step class. Especially since my friends and I are having a fake thanksgiving tonight, eekK! Karen: when I have my " i don't feel like working out" days, I go to my gym when a tv show of mine is on (it helps that i don't have cable). I usually picka 1 hour show and walk at 4.5 while watching tv and run during the commericials. I do sort of think its cheating, but its better than nothing. lynn-awhile ago my mother decided to start running and completely got rid of her pooch. I think to get rid of it, you're going to have to do some serious cardio. pg-i hope the transcription is going well. |

hey everyone, I saw this thread and thought it was a good fit for me. I am 5'8" and am currently hovering around 139. Last may I got to my ultimate weight which was 135! In the time between I broke up with a boyfriend where I emotionally ate all summer long and forced myself to go on 1.5 hour runs but now I'm back to normal. My goal is to lose those last couple of pounds. I really like to run and should weight lift because it's just embarrassing when I go to a weight lifting class and see girls 20lbs lighter than me lifting more than a 2lb weight and not struggling:). I try to work out daily but sometimes it gets the best of me. ALso, I'm in grad school as well and being poor and having to say no to greesy food can be a bit of a struggle. So I need all the support I can get. |

| Weight Loss | Urge to eat when not hungry....does it ever go away? | Nov 17 2008 03:17 (UTC) |

when i have those cravings i always find crystal light is really good. I always make mine with about 32oz of water and chug it down. I feel like i've ingested calories (something sweet) and its mainly water. I did it a lot in the beginning to get rid of those "urge to eat" feeling. Now i'm just satisfied with water.

If he is as simple as you seem to imply then you can just make a huge amount of something meaty to last him for the week. So do that and then make your own low calorie meal and add some to his as well. THat way you're satisfying him and also introducing him to other foods that he may potentially start to like. As far as eating time, there is no bad time to eat dinner, total calorie intake is what you need to pay worry about. if I were you, i'd have a handful of nuts (or something small to stave off your hunger) until he gets home. |

Hi, I am your exact same height 5'8" and I was at 148 and am trying to get down to around 132. Right now i'm at 138 (hooray) but this is what i've done for the past couple of months. -I keep active. I try to walk most places. I NEVER take the elevator at work and I walk to work.i work out at least 3-4 times a week.
-I count all my calories and keep them under 1650 (try to do 1600 on most days but that doesn't always work). I find that counting calories helps me not go over. I always eat a huge breakfast. In fact right now I am eating oatmeal and a small homeade smoothie. -most days I make my own lunch. Good calorie wise and budget wise. -I have definately faltered. Last week I had 4 pieces of a medium papa johns pizza. What I did? went to the website, calculated hte calories and only ate until I got to 1600 for the day (not very much i might add). I also went to the gym for a 30 min run that day. I am still on my goal to losing weight.
-if you're trying to lose your stomach, I find that running and swimming are the exercises to do.
-after workouts I eat if i'm hungry. period.
if you need any extra advice or support, message me!
- I try to consume only whole grains and try eat around 4-5 servings of vegetables and fruits a day. i have milk in my coffee and as far as starch and proteins are concerned, i listen to my body.
