Hey Lynn current weight: 138lbs &nb sp; &nb sp; bust: 34 target: tummy, arse, waist & thighs. I am in if it's not to late!!! I have read everyone's introduction entry, that is all the motivation I needed, I want in. A little about myself I was introduce to the gym 3yrs ago by way of a challenge. I was able to lose 45lbs over 5mths and crush the competition. I maintained the majority of the weight off for 2yrs. From a size 9/10 to size "0". I am an avid gym goer, I recently discovered my love for running. My ultimate goal is to run a mini marathon in the city. ( I live in nyc). Holly I have alot of ques. for you. (smile) Thanks to Lynn, she has always been my CC buddy and helped me along the way whether it was about sticking to the diet or just relationship advise. I can tell you it helped me along the way to reach my goals. I am 36 yr old female, I work for Bank Of America on the trading floor, so everyday is a good day if I didn't lose my job. I am single and very social. My strength is that I love the gym, my weakness, I love the single's bar more. I have gained 18lbs and in all the wrong places, I need to get it off. I have a class reunion coming up, and I am dating a very sexy firefighter. I want him to see me at my best and most important I want to eat and live healthy. So let the games begin............ It doesn't matter whether your trying to lose 50lbs or 5lbs, trust the struggle is all the same. So with you guys I hope to be back in my bikini by May. |

etoile_rg, you are amazing. After reading your post, I went and read your bio. I commend your change in life. What you have accomplished so far. You are a very brave women. I hear about ed, but never gave it a second thought. As I never met anyone who suffered from anorexia or bilimia. In it's not something you hear about in my culture. But I am blown away hearing some of the struggles and testimonies on this site in regarads to ed. You have made me look at this seriously and acknowledge people like yourself who have made a decision to overcome ed!!! Kudos to you!!! You can not imagine how many people you are helping w/your honesty. Though I am way on the other side of the spectrum, I can sympathize. Please I urge you to keep up the good work. Any new lb you put on is something to celebrate. Your pic is beautiful. After reading your comment, I don't know what to call what I do on late night Suns. should I be calling it binging (don't want to offend anybody) but the important thing is how you feel before/afterwards. My weakness is cookies. Boy do I love cookies. I ate 7 nicely sized baked cookies at 2am in the mng. I so asked for it. But guess what. I am human. Today will be a better day. I know it will. You keep telling your story and sharing your experience. Because it is helping others as well as helping yourself. I never imagined that I would be touched by your comment as I was. I make sure I appreciate what I have accomplished and to continue working on my goal. I will not beat up on myself for my slip ups, I will just do better the next time around. Keep up the good work!!! |

| Weight Loss | If you could offer ONE piece of advice you've learned the hard way to someone, what would it be? | Apr 18 2008 17:32 (UTC) |

| My piece of advice..............
First, all of the advice and hard lessons learned that everyone shared is priceless. I appreciate your honestly and your willingness to share vaulable information for a greater cause.
LOL!!! Now my advice. I believe it is important to adopt a support group. It is fruitless or very very hard to go at it solo. Online support groups, work-out partners, family participation, etc. Are all very good and have shown to make a difference. I had a workout partner when I initially lost my desired weight. I lost it quickly and stayed on track easily because of the constant support and encouragement in my corner. No matter how strong, disciplined you may believe to be. A support group works!!! This time around, I was not fortunate to have a physical workout partner in the gym w/me. So I turned to an online support group. And I love it!!! I am so focused despite having to workout alone. I know I can always check in and chat w/my friend from cc, get much needed questions answered, what more can a person ask for (AND FOR FREE). Thanks to every member on CC. And Good Luck |

Mgosie, Kudos to you!!! I think your last comment was very informative and right on point on what most of us on this thread are feeling and experiencing. I too don't keep any junk food or soda in my house. I barely keep food. Nothing that I can easily binge off of at night as well. However, my next door neighbor who happens to be my best friend in the whole wide world. She is way on the otherside of the spectrum. She is trying to gain weight and seems just as obsessed as I am with acheiving her goal. So everytime she comes over she is leaving all types of junk food, cooking pure sat. fat food in my house. And drinking soda by the liter. I have asked her constantly not to bring that stuff in my house or even worse don't leave it behind. As you that request falls on deaf ears. I end up throwing it away, but it's a form of temptation that I am occasionally confronted with. She has zero interest in eating healthy. So thanks for your story, with a little laugh I can relate. I commend you for standing your grounds despite the early learned behavior!!! |

Wow!!! After reading everyone's comments. I did go back in the gym. I used the advice that sszcar and some of you have given me. Although that leg still hurts, I continue to stretch until I feel discomfort. I am glad u all reassured me that it would be nearly impossible to really hurt the muscles by stretching. That was my fear but the pain felt like I was tearing/ripping something. I've been stretching before and during my workouts and it seems to be helping. But does the pain ever go away. I am also doing strength training so perhaps this will work out for me. Thanks for all the sound advice. I hope to be doing a split soon!!! Wow!! |

| Weight Loss | for those of you who never had much weight to lose... | Apr 16 2008 20:34 (UTC) |

Wow!!! I've read everyone's comment and I can identify. I can't believe it, I thought I was the only one having this problem. My experience is exactly the same, that is how I know you all are right. I am 5'1 and petite. Last year, I confronted my weight issue for the first time. I am black girl and in our culture thickness is okay and attractive to our mates. However, I choose to be healthy and at an appropriate weight for my height. I was weighting 145lbs and wearing a size 8. That didn't look good at my height (my opinion). I lost 25lbs. And just like u, I lost it in 45-60 days. It just drop off. Where i had to stop working out. I was losing in avg of 3lbs a week. When I stop I was weighting 123lbs. I hadn't weighted that since I was 17 yrs old. LOL!!! Now summer is coming and I gained 7lbs back. I see a huge difference unlike others, but I want them xtra lbs off. I thought it was going to be a snap. Not so!!! I am so frustrated, that I am having such a hard time. I've been at it for a mth. I HAVEN'T LOST ONE POUND YET!!!! I work out 5x a week. I started eating within my calorie count, however I was still cheating here and there, drinking, eating sweets and eating late at night. But like you I am determined to lose these 7lbs. As of Monday, I have put myself on such a strict diet. I have restricted myself from everything. I drink plenty of water, no alcohol. I barely eat 800 calories a day. Yikes!!! I know that is bad, but I am desperate. I have changed my workout, I do cardio in the beginning, strength training and then more cardio. I am going to follow this for two weeks, and see if this makes a difference. I am sorry I went long. But you all made me feel so much better to know I am not the only one going thru this and u all offered some awesome solutions as well. Good luck. I will let you know if it made a difference. |

Finally!!! Their is a name for the symptoms I've been feeling, "Social eating" & "My friends are making me fat". Yikes!!! Now that we have put a name to it. What do I do. Some are very disciplined others are easily influenced. I can be easily influenced. My friends know I love to dine out and drink, I would if I could, 7 days a week. Good Luck!! |

Don't worry Biscuitmcnally, your not going to wake up obesed for your slip up. Boy, I do have to say, some of the comments are hilarious and I believe laughing is definitely healthy. Seems like everyone has an opinion, because we can all relate to this moment of weakness, especially once you start to see your truimp. But to answer your question, I either binge or endulge in bad food almost every wknd (the only time I take a break from CC). I have done this for a couple of wknds. I can only tell you how it affects me. I won't gain (like you I incorporate it in my calorie intake) but I don't lose either and I end of killing myself in the gym on Monday as a punishment. No more. I think you should promise yourself to do all that you can not to go on one of your binges. Summer is right around the corner!! Or better yet, I dare you eat that Big Mac standing Naked in front of the mirror. lol!!! If that don't to deter you, nothing can. (Not that we know what u must look like naked). P.S. How can anyone consume McDonalds/Burger King meat. What the hell is in that meat?? Once u find out, trust you won't want to eat there again, missy. Good Luck! |

| Weight Loss | How long after cardio should you wait to eat? | Mar 31 2008 19:48 (UTC) |

Such an excellent question. Me personally. I eat immediately after an intense cardio workout. One of my favorite restaurants happen to be down the street from the gym. I eat right after because I know my body is still burning off calories at a high rate for a short time after a workout. So those calories I am eating are being burned. Hope that was helpful. |

Hi Thisjess I am of similar proportions 5'1 cw 130lbs. I can't imagine how I would look at your current weight according to my built, but it does sound like your eating to much in the day. I can't offer sound advice as far as how many calories u should consume daily according to your nutritionist. I am suffering w/not eating enough calories daily, however in my opinion, I couldn't see me consuming that many calories (1850) on a daily basis and expect to lose weight in a good time frame. I have to commend you on your workout regiment keep it up. |

Thanks for the quick feedback, (priceless). I might just stick w/the rum & coke to be safe. No one actually knows how many calories are in those sweet drinks, which I love. I am trying my best to consume at 1000 calories a day, I know I should be consuming more while I am working out almost everyday. But I just don't be hungry. I drink plenty of water and I am forcing myself to eat fruits at least. I am concerned about getting all my nutrients for the day as I know I burn off alot throughout the day. Well today, I am going out w/the girls to celebrate a court case victory. I will keep in mind everyone's good advice as a mingle. |

| Weight Loss | How much should I eat when I don't exercise? | Mar 28 2008 13:42 (UTC) |

ASHLEYM7342 I was going to ask you the same thing. What machines do you use that u burn bet. 800-1000 per session. I am in the gym as well bet 5-6 times a week. However, according to the cardio machines and I do several of them for about 20mins each. In their estimate I burn at least 400 calories per session, not counting the toning machines. I am just curious to know how long would I have to be in the gym and what specific machinary I can use to burn off calories as yourself. I work 10 hrs a day, and I am in the gym for another 2.5 hrs; however on an avg I consume 1000 calories a day. |

So love this site: I can't even get any work done. My victory actually took place yesterday 3/27 and continues. I got thru the entire day without cheating on my diet and staying within my daily calorie intake (1200) and ended the day with a 2 hr workout at the gym. Despite getting on the scale and coming to terms that I had gained 15lbs since Thanksgiving. I didn't let that discourage me, I got right in there and worked out . My hardest struggle is at night. I love to stay up all night and watch tv and snack or fix myself a few cocktails. I am victorious in the fact that I have not endulged in these bad habits the entire week. "Whitetigress" I can not wait to be able to have my skinny jeans hanging off my hips again. Congratulations to all of you!!! |

| Weight Loss | 1200 calories - are you kidding me? | Mar 27 2008 17:08 (UTC) |

After reading some of the postings, I feel like I am doing something not quite right. According to my weight assessment on cc, my total daily intake is 1200 calories a day also. However, I am 5'1 & 134lbs, even at that size/height I don't look overweight, but according to the bmi, I am overweight by 15lbs. It's not hard for me to stick w/the daily calorie intake because naturally I am not a heavy eater, but I am a heavy drinker (liquor). So knowing this, when I go on my diets I strictly do not indulge in any type of alcohol intake, but should I be eating more calories a day, I do cardio & toning at least 5 dys a week. In my experience w/losing lots of weight, I definitely loss alot of muscle. This time around I hope incorporating toning exercises w/cardio that I will build muscle, will I? anyone? |

I agree w/helpless. I believe starving yourself might render quick painful results but the after effects are not worth it. (loss of muscle/rapid regain). Trust, I am a pro at starving myself for a quick fix for an upcoming event. Part of it is that people are generally looking for instant gratification. This weight loss is a process & a lifestyle. Now, I make sure I eat 3 meals a day (very small portions) in a snack, staying below or on target w/my daily calorie intake. It has been successful for me as far as losing weight fast but I do incorporate my diet w/ a daily strenuous workout schedule. (the workout is more to release the everyday stress, lol) |
