Shannon, Dave, and family, I hold you tight in my heart tonight after watching the newscast about Chris' accident. I am thankful that Chris has been found so you can finally grieve him properly, but my heart aches for you. Over the last 1 1/2 years, I feel like I have known you and Chris, just as many other CC members have said. We have all become a big family with one very strong common goal. I want you to know that we are all still here for you, now more than ever! Please lean on us to get you through this difficult time. We will be here as long as you need us! God be with you always, Beth |

Hi Shan. I, too, have been gone from the site, but I do still have updates sent to my yahoo inbox regarding this thread. Thank you so much for keeping us updated. I was crying when I read your last post. I understand your uncertainty about wanting (or not wanting) to find Chris if he is no longer alive. I can't imagine how I would feel in your shoes. It's a parent's worst nightmare and you should be so proud of yourself for going on with your life and taking care of your family the way you have. You truly are a great Mother and Chris and his siblings are very lucky to have you! Even though I live in Illinois, I always keep my eyes open for a beautiful blue-eyed blonde. I keep you, Chris, Dave and your entire family in my prayers always and I pray that peace will find you. And you ARE right, whether it is in this world or the next, you will see your son again! God bless! Beth |

Hi Vince. I know exactly how you feel. I had panic attacks and depression hit me when I was 25. They put me on Paxil and Xanax. The xanax was great to get me through the short-term until the Paxil kicked in. I felt like my former happy-go-lucky self on the Paxil, but then quickly gained 40 pounds in 3 months....enough to cause depression again! My doc switched me to Zoloft, which I have successfully continued for the last 13 years. It has worked great for me, and I know several other people that take it successfully, too. I do, however, have friends that have tried it unsuccessfully. It made them more anxious. So, it really is trial and error. Also, I agree with "V". Exercise is huge in the battle against anxiety and depression, and I do feel much better when I work up a really good sweat, as opposed to a light workout. Good luck! I truly feel for you and hope that you find the medication that is perfect for you! Beth

Thanks so much for sharing your story! First, you reminded me that I wanted to start drinking green tea every day and, second, you put it in perspective for me! I'm like you, being a night owl and being more hungry at night. I usually don't go to bed until 2 a.m. most nights. Not eating after 6:00 - are you kidding me!?! There was no way that was going to happen! You made a lot of good points, and I really appreciate you sharing it with all of us who still haven't found our own "trick"!!! Congratulations to you! Beth :) |

When I lose weight, the "girls" are always the first to go ( after the face)! But, in my case, that's a good thing - they're too big (42DD). Was a 36C in college, which is my goal! Good luck! |

Thanks for all the great comments! I don't feel so weird about my food habits now! :) One that I forgot to add was shredded lettuce, lowfat cottage cheese and Western dressing! It's my quick, high-protein salad and it tastes great! Oh, and spaghettios with cottage cheese - tastes like lasagna! Yummy! |

| Health & Support | Anyone interested in a support group for depression? | Apr 17 2008 05:21 (UTC) |

Hi support group buddies! Have been gone for a few days and am now catching up! I'm glad our group is growing! I'm sure we can all encourage and support each other! Onna213, I take Zoloft for anxiety. I have been taking it for almost 13 years now. I talk a little bit about it in my first post(#9). When I first began having panic attacks at age 25, they put me on Xanax for about 3 weeks. It was great, but very addictive. I will tell you, though, that I carried that pill bottle around with me for about 10 years. It was like my security blanket.....there if I needed it. Fortunately, I never needed it! I finally just threw it away a few years ago! I have been really happy with the Zoloft, but I do wonder if it will be harder to lose the weight I need to while I'm taking it. I don't feel ready to try to wean off of it, but maybe someday.... Take care, everyone! If you're in the Midwest, enjoy the great weather! Winter is finally over!!! Beth

Hi there! I would love to join your group, too. I was really athletic and outgoing in high school/college, but when I was 25, I had a horrible experience with anxiety/panic attacks. It was the most terrifying time in my life. Since then, I have been taking Zoloft and I have been through 3 pregnancies, post-partum depression, and just 12 years of life in general. I am now 37 and have learned to appreciate life. I am outgoing again and feel like myself again. I am still 80+ pounds overweight and learning to accept my body and make it healthier...definitely love CC! The medication had been a lifesaver for me, but I absolutely understand why you would like to do it on your own. I hope to be able to go off of it someday but, until then, I am grateful for it. I was feeling bad about taking it once and my OB/GYN said to me, "If you had an iron deficiency, would you take iron?" I said, "Of course". She replied, "Well, you have a seratonin deficiency, so you are just giving your body what it isn't able to provide on its own." This made so much sense to me, and I no longer feel embarrassed about having to take meds. One note I will mention to you, though, is that some meds will make symptoms worse for some people. I have some friends who have had bad experiences with one medication, but another has worked well for them. But whatever you decide, make sure you stay in contact with your doctor. I let mine (anxiety) get way out of control before I went to the doctor. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through that if it could be avoided! :) Take care and be well, all! Beth |

| Weight Loss | Anyone out there looking to drop 100 lbs?!? | Apr 04 2008 07:47 (UTC) |

Hi everyone! I am new to the site and have to lose 120 pounds, according to CC. I am 37 with three kids. I played volleyball in college and was always very athletic, but now have let myself go terribly! I am 5'11 and currently at 283. Ouch! My college playing weight was 190 and that was a great weight for me! CC says 161, which would be great, too. I don't just want to lose weight...I want to make a lifestyle change FOR GOOD! My oldest son is 9 and he has already picked up my bad eating habits! I feel like a horrible mother! I learned my bad eating habits from my mom, and I swore I would not be a bad role model for my kids, but.....here I am! Anyway, I want to change NOW! I want to run around and play with my kids, without hurting my back, or knees, etc. etc. I want to join a volleyball league again and go golfing with my husband without worrying about my back locking up on me! People always say, "YOU have to be ready to lose the weight in order to succeed. It won't work if you're not completely committed or if you do it because someone else wants you to." Well, I am FINALLY there! This is it! So please, please, please, feel free to read my profile and add me to your friends list! This is a HUGE goal for all of us and I know we can succeed if we keep each other motivated! We're in it for the long haul, so let's make it a fun journey together! Happy Friday, everyone! Beth |

| The Lounge | Any one had a breast reduction???????????? | Apr 02 2008 04:51 (UTC) |

I, too, have contemplated BR surgery for quite a while. I am 37, 3 kids (9, 5, and 3) and am 5' 11" and currently weight 285 :(. Seven years ago, I lost my mom to breast cancer. It was not the hereditary kind, but I really worry about my chances. Hence, the desire for a breast reduction. I am a 44DD and would like to be the 36C I was back in college. I keep thinking if I can drop the 50-100 pounds I need to, the "girls" will shrink, too and I won't need the surgery!?!?!?!?! |

Hi Shannon. I am new to the site, but came across your posting about Chris. I can't imagine what you are going through right now, but my prayers are with you! I always take the time to look at the pictures of missing children that come in the mail because you never know when you might recognize someone. I always think, "If it were my child missing, I would want everyone to keep looking." I know there is nothing anyone can say to make you feel better, but I will pray for Chris' safe return. I admire your strength! Beth |

Hi Lauren! I am so glad I read your post and all of the great comments. I, too, have been frustrated that I've been counting calories and haven't lost anything. But, after reading the comments, I feel much better. Hopefully, I will see some positive results next week. This is only my third day and I think this is going to be a great site! You are all so positive and inspirational! I can't wait until I reach my 50 pound goal! Great job!!! Beth P.S. If any of you have any advice, I'm all ears!!!!
