Thick legs are sexy. I bet you can rock it. Espcially with a pair of heels to make you flex your calves and make your legs look longer. :0)

Yes, yes, yes. I love food and am such a cranky bitch when I try to diet. So I don't anymore; I just up the cardio as needed.

Fitness Help... Gap between legs instead of rubbing...How do you do it?!?! Apr 10 2009

I've only ever seen the gap on nasty little anorexic people. (I'm sure there are exceptions, but they are NOT the rule.) Not attractive. Blows my mind that people actually want to look like that.

Man, I WISH I could lose a cup size. I dropped 15 pounds (5'4" 137 and counting) and still can't shop for bras in the average department store. I was pissed when I had a fitting and found out I'm a 36DD. I'm still working out and still not dropping anything from the chest. Y'all who can, have it good.

My tall boots are super duper tight in the calves because I love working mine out and love the look of healthy calf muscles. Fashion is designed for girls with skinny legs, not real people. It's rare for me to find a pair I can fit into. (5'4" 137lbs, sz8 here.)

My nutritionist recommended eating BMR and working out to burn calories/lose weight instead of dieting because it's healthier, and I was already pretty close to eating no more than my BMR.

I like beans. Mmm burritos. But spinach is the best. If you don't like it in a salad, throw a handful into your fruit smoothie- the green color is weird but the taste is hardly noticeable. That helps me donate plasma regularly.

Weight Loss How often should weigh-ins be done? Oct 16 2008

For me, weighing in daily is nuts. And disappointing to the max. I prefer to do it weekly because I can only lose a little less than 1 pound a week anyway unless I work out for HOURS, so I'm not going to see any changes day to day. Why bother? Weekly weigh-ins also allow me not to think about my weight every day and not feel obsessive.

My summer clothes with shoes add about 2 pounds. Jeans take me up an additional 1. Remember to take your cell phone out of your pocket, too. Mine's pretty chunky.

Throw in some ( a cup or less) low-fat VANILLA yogurt (plain is weird) and it will cut the weird flavor of the protein powder perfectly (of course I use a vanilla protein powder too.)

I like bananas in them, occasionally with peanut butter and/or a squirt of honey. :0)

I hear ya. I HATE it when random guys hit on me, and none did for a long while when I was only 15 pounds heavier. It's not a big difference as far as weight, but I'm getting more attention than I'd like. Why can't people just leave me alone?

-NOT interested.

curve: to have or take a turn, change, or deviation from a straight line or plane surface without sharp breaks or angularity

curb: to check or control

You can curb hunger but cannot "curve" it.

Foods Need to raise my iron Aug 01 2008
04:19 (UTC)

I donate plasma twice a week and was just barely making the cut even though I took a daily vitamin with more than 100% of the iron I needed and made sure to eat eggs and spinach right before I donated. I found an iron supplement for about $5 at Target with 300% of the daily requirement, and it's been much easier. I haven't experienced any of its negative side effects either in 3 weeks of taking it. Best of luck.

Fitness Body Fat Percentage? HELP! Jul 28 2008

I've had a handful of online body fat calculators give me a range of 20% (athlete) to 32% (morbidly obese, gonna drop dead any moment). I am obviously neither of the above.

I'm looking into getting the test done in water up at campus.

Hmmm.. I saw a special on 20/20 or something like that about said group of people where the women ate 1500 calories a day and the men, 1800.. they all looked quite gaunt.

I find that a little hard to believe. My nutritionist recommended 1450 for me to maintain without working out, and I'm in the higher end of "normal" BMI. Maybe the numbers were different on the special.

I think the "eat 15% less" was directed more towards the average American who is overweight.

That's what I wanted to assume, but the article never said so specifically.

They are inaccurate if your build is anything but ideal. A larger than average bust cements me at the higher end of "normal."

Fitness Weight machines...Good or bad for reducing size of legs? Jun 24 2008

Regardless of a person's intention to bulk up or not, too many people go to the gym and "start throwing weights around." Maybe they'll be lucky enough to stumble upon a good toning routine for them, but I've seen enough people on here aiming to increase their weights more and more to achieve personal goals when bulk is NOT the goal but becomes a side effect.

Plenty here DO micromanage their diets and DO have the dedication to work out hard enough and often enough to "Oops, this body wasn't my intention. What now? How do I slim down when that's what I thought I was doing?"

I don't know the exact formula for any one single ideal body, nor do many of the suggestions you'll find online work for any one ideal except the person who posted. But a trainer might.

Women can't bulk up, but women generally want to lose fat. That will make you lose fat.

Best urban myth ever. If you work a muscle, it will be strengthened. A stronger muscle is a bigger muscle (dependent on calorie intake, too). The laws of nature/physics apply to even to women. Can't change that.

Edit: It's not just the bodybuilders with the natural inclination to "bulk up," either. I'm sure we've all seen women at the gym who obviously prefer weights over cardio and have those "manly" muscles.

Wring, wrong, wrong. Weights may help lose some weight/fat all around by boosting the number of calories you burn in a day. But simply put, lifting strengthens/tones muscles. Strengthening = increasing/making bigger.

Edit: I like weights for legs because I have a thicker natural build and would look ridiculous with skinny legs. Weights helped me tone and replace thigh fat with visible muscle but didn't slim anything the way running/cardio can.

I felt like a total perv the other day as I was walking out of the weights area, I did a double-take and my jaw dropped because one woman's ass was AMAZING. It was a mental "Holy crap. How did she DO that?!" The guy with her gave me a dirty look. Oops. Sometimes it's hard to help, though.

Fitness Need advice about Lower abs Jun 17 2008

If you dig belly dance, look up belly rolls. Not the fat, but the movement. They require you to control your upper and lower abs independently and are exceedingly more difficult than other undulations and body rolls. I had to practice every day for three weeks on my back with weights on my stomach before I could ever see any movement, but boy is it awesome now. Check youtube. Best of luck.
