| Foods | A couple of questions about: FLAX SEEDS | Sep 18 2008 12:36 (UTC) |

I buy the whole seeds in the bulk food section at the grocery store and they are quite inexpensive. I have a coffee grinder and grind enough for three or four days at a time. They fluff up to at least twice their original size. I have been keeping the whole seeds in the cupboard but once I grind them I keep that in the refrigerator. Besides putting it in my hot cereal, I also put it in my bean soup. For a snack I like round corn chips with a little hummus and flaxseed. It adds a little flavor. I eat them because the omega 3 is supposed to offset bad fats and improve cholesterol. I figure it can’t hurt – in moderation of course. Since I’m female, I think the estrogen is good for me. |

I have not quite reached the goal that I originally set but am going to raise my daily calories now in hopes of not losing more than my original goal. I do eat nuts almost every day but weigh or count out the portion ahead of time. I make up five or six containers holding a portion each so am not tempted eat more at a time. I've changed a lot about my eating habits and have thoroughly enjoyed my new food choices. If I eat unhealthy foods occasionally, I don't worry about it because 95% of the time I know I am eating well. I do plan to continue logging my food because I enjoy doing it and have time. |

I’m female, 61, 5’6” and finished with menopause. I’ve lost 10 pounds since the middle of March by changing what I eat and adding half an hour on my exercise bike (about three days a week) to the two mile per day walk that I’ve been doing the past four years. I eat between 1400 and 1600 calories per day. I started at 160 and my goal is between 135 and 140. |

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
