| Weight Loss | I wonder...calories/biggest loser | Oct 21 2009 23:28 (UTC) |

I have heard all the same numbers that other people have posted as far as burn rate and calories per day but I have also heard Jillian mention that they have 1 "cheat" day a week to keep their bodies from going into the starvation mode. I don't know how many calories they are allowed to have on those days. |

| Weight Loss | Hi Guys, does this sound like a good plan? | Mar 31 2009 00:07 (UTC) |
|
Just wanted to say I am right with you. I am 34 years old am 157 pounds at 5' 7" and want to get back down to 145 for the summer. I lost 30 pounds last spring to get to 145 but gained 12 back this winter. I am finding it really hard to go back to the calorie counting to get back to 145 but at least I know it is possible if I put in the work! Good Luck! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Finally finished breastfeeding!!! | Mar 17 2009 19:06 (UTC) |

I was told that you lose weight faster when breastfeeding but you usually keep the last 10 to 15 lbs of weight for "backup" incase your body needs to dip into its reserves to make the milk. After I stopped breastfeeding at 13 months I was able to easily loose the last 10 lbs and more. I agree that is is very hard to lose while breastfeeding because you are always starving!! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Making Baby Food | Mar 17 2009 19:01 (UTC) |

I made all my babyfood for my twins (now 2 years old). It does only take a couple hours to make enough for the week. I would buy whatever meat and veggies were on sale that week and I always did the ice cube trays. Soooo Easy Tips on meat: Make sure the meat is cut up into small pieces and cold. I would usually cook it and cut it one day and then puree it the next after it spent the night in the fridge but maybe pop it in the freezer for a while. Try blending it as much as you can before adding liquid (I used breast milk but you can use formula or water also) Most people say they have a hard time getting toddlers to eat meat but mine love it and I think it has to do with getting "real" meat right from the beginning. It did take me a while to perfect the meat puree (my daughter hated lumps) but eventually we got it. |

I put them on Pizza. I make a whole wheat crust put some tomato sauce, a handful of reduced fat cheese and peppers (red, green, yellow or any combo of the 3) mushrooms, and sometimes reduced fat pepporoni. FANTASTIC and so much cheaper than take-out or frozen and a lot healthier too. My whole family love them! We have it every Friday Night! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Thumb sucking!!! | Mar 04 2009 18:40 (UTC) |

Try giving her something really fun to hold onto. Give her something else to do during meal time to try and keep her thumb away. Is it at a real tired time. Is she sucking so much during meal time because she is tired if so you can try to move around the times you feed solids (purees). I have 2 yo twins. My son started sucking his thumb around 4 months (until then neither liked a paci) and around 8 months my daughter found a paci and was attached to it. At 18 months we took the paci away during all waking hours and she was fine for 3 months and then saw her brother was sucking his thumb and now she is a thumb sucker too. Just all over a weird situation. Mine usually have reasons (now) why they suck. 1. wanted a bottle/bf (when little) 2. Hungry in general 3. sad (something happened like a toy was taken away) 4. Tired (just woke up or wants to sleep) 5. Bored If you can avoid these while feeding it might help. My last ? is does she need to suck to swallow the food or can she swallow without sucking? I think no matter what in the next few munths she will stop sucking so much during meal time because she will be using her hands to feed herself. Try giving her an infant spoon to pretend with it might keep her thumb(s) buisy! |

| Weight Loss | Weight loss without exercise... opinions/thoughts/experiences? | Aug 28 2008 19:04 (UTC) |

I have lost 28 pounds since May and I want to lose 12 more for my original goal. 33 years old, mother of toddler twins, started at 175 want to get to 135, (was up to 235 when preggo), I have been going back and forth between just calorie counting and adding exercise. When I want to eat more I make myself exercise and when I can do only cc I don't exercise much. I wear a pedometer everyday and try to get 10,000 steps in and atleast 40 minutes of aroebic steps (usually a walk pushing a stroller). This way I know I have done enough for my heart! Good luck in finding the combination that works for you and gives you the energy to make it through the day w/ a 3yo!

I gained Freshman 20 in college and finally took that off when I was a senior then 2 years later I was on steroids when I had a severe cough turned out to be whooping cough and had to have a lung biopsy so I was put on steroids to surpress my cough enough for the biopsy to be done. I gained 30 lbs in 4-6 weeks. It took forever to lose that weight and then I gained 70lbs with being pregnant w/ twins. Now I am fighting again to lose that weight. Things happen. This guy is a real jerk that will end up getting whats comeing to him one day!! Steroids SUCK!!!! |

Thanks for the suggestion. I have not tried pilates yet... it looks hard. I am not very coordinated (was an athlete in HS) but still not coordinated so it would probably be good for me. I am just haveing a hard time deciding what I should concentrate on Cardio, weights, or should I do 2 days of each a week. I didn't even think of videos. Ugh now more to sort through. Thanks!!! |

| Weight Loss | New mom, I want to lose 30 lbs. Anyone wants to join me? | May 28 2008 13:54 (UTC) |
|
I am 5' 7" 156 lbs 33 tears old Female! I had my twins by c-section in February of 07. They are 15 months old now but I am still holding on too a lot of weight. I gained 65 pounds with them and did breastfeed for 1 year but I used that as an excuse to just eat more and more. When I stopped bf I had 10 lbs left to lose before my start weight. I lost those 10 lbs and 9 more but I still can't fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes. It is so frustrating that my midsection is holding on to the weight like a sponge. I have 21 lbs left to lose to get to my ideal weight. I have been doing this for 2 months now and it has worked really well for me. Weekends are very hard but I pick one day that is my "cheat day" and I let myself eat more than normal. I find that this actually boosts my matabolism and it has a positive affect on my weight loss. I don't go crazy but I don't limit myself to 1400 cals. Good luck to everyone and any advice for me or questions are welcome. Oh buying a food scale was very helpful for me because I was sick of guessing and this helped me!! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | hot baths | May 05 2008 18:25 (UTC) |
|
My doc said as long as you fill the tub and don't keep adding new water it was ok because the water naturally cools down so you are not in "hot" water too long. Just don't add new hot water to keep the temp up. But if it starts out really hot I would try to cool it down. Why do something that could be dangerous. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Question about clomid use and ovulation??? | May 05 2008 18:20 (UTC) |
1 |
I did have irregular periods. I was on the pill for years so it didn't matter but when we were trying to get preg. and I finally started to keep track it was anywhere from 18 days to 64 days so I could never predict. After 2 years is when we stated with the doc and eventually did clomid. Oh I didn't mention that I have boy/girl twins so be aware! Love them to death though!! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Question about clomid use and ovulation??? | May 04 2008 17:07 (UTC) |

I really didn't have any side effects but I am surprised the doctor didn't tell you when to expect ovulation. I don't remember off hand but I think its from day 11 - 15. I used an ovulation kit to predict mine because I was so sick of guessing. You have to pee on a stick every morning around the time and it does cost $ but for me it was weeelll worth it! Got preg. 1st time with clomid.
Good Luck!!!! |

I weigh myself almost everyday but I only track it twice a week. I weigh in on Monday and Thursday. My reason is on Thursday I hope I have lost 1-2 lbs and on Monday I hope I have maintained over the weekend. It works for me so far! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | How do I get some sleep | Apr 30 2008 21:55 (UTC) |

I have 14 month old twins. I bf my son till 13 months and my daughter got expressed breast milk because she refused the breast after about 6 weeks (extreme colic). My question is if you refuse to bf till 5:00 what do you do at 2:00 when she wakes up. Are you trying to just soothe her in her crib. My philosophy was to do what I had to to get back to bed and not wake up the other baby in the same room. If you feel like bf her at 2:00 will let her sleep till 7:00 than do it. If she just really needs to be rocked and soothed than do it. The fact is she will sleep through the night when ready. I would rather spend 1/2 hour at 2:00 and get to go back to bed than only half sleep with her in your bed. You will be a happier mommy in the long run. My daughter needed a bottle at 5:00 in the am till about 12 months but I didn't have a problem doing it because 90% of the time she went back to sleep for a couple of hours and I could too. My son would wake at about 2:00 to bf till about 10 - 11 months and than I realized he wasn't really hungry he just needed some soothing so i would rock him for 5 minutes and get to go back to bed and the other baby wouldn't wake up. In a month or so he just stopped crying in the night and would sleep through. Sorry this probably doesn't help but it is what I did. |

| Weight Loss | Do you guys log your "bites" | Apr 30 2008 16:44 (UTC) |
16 |
I try to overestimate on all my portions because I know how easy it is to say I ate 1 serving of meat but it was probably more like 1.5 so I estimate 2 servings. I figure this makes up for eating the 2-3 pieces of mango left on my twins tray or the last bite of the banana that they just couldn't finish. But again you have to be really truthful about what is really just a couple of calories versus a true .5 to 1 serving of something. If you don't have a scale to actually weigh things than licking your fingers a few times with peanut butter and eating a couple mouthfulls of cheesy pasta can really tip the scales quick. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | mother of twins, reaching out to other mammas | Apr 29 2008 17:46 (UTC) |

I have 14 month old twins. I am a stay at home mom and started this web site about 1 month ago. There is no way I could join a gym because my husband is gone about 12 -13 hours a day and we are strapped for $ so I couldn't pay for day care at the gym. I spent about 1/2 the $ I would have for a year at the gym and bought a decent treadmill and some hand weights and an exercise ball. When the kids go down for their nap I spend about 40 minutes on the treadmill using the hand weights and the extra 20 minutes to work on core strength or lunges around the house. Thats an hour workout and I didn't have to leave my basement. I usuall then have enough time to take a quick shower and strat lunch before they awaken. This worked great till last week when I broke my toe but hope to get back to it soon. Are the twins your 1st children. My b/g twins are my life and I wouldn't change anything. I am glad I am so busy during the week with them that it helps me keep my calories in check too since I think some people to consider 80% of the battle with weight. How is your schedule? Beleive me I know the balancing act is tough. I finally feel like I am ahead of the game but as we all know it cange change on a dime with just the addition of another tooth!! |

I don't have a lot of wisdom to give you but I wanted to let you know I am in the same boat as you. I have a lot of skin from haveing my twins 14 months ago. I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight but no where near the same figure. I was about 20 pounds overweight when I got preg. so I still have at least 20 to lose but hopefully now that it is starting to get nice out in the northeast I will get out more. Just wanted to tell you that I feel your pain (hunger and emotional)!! GOOD LUCK |

ginger- really helped me, gingerale, gingersnaps, ginger tea pepermint- pepermint suckers, pepermint gum, pepermint tea salt- saltines, oyster crackers, crutons, pretzels, cucumbers or tomatoes w/ salt I was pregnant w/ twins and was extremely sick for 5 months. I had to keep eating and I mean continually. I got so sick of thinking about food but if I didn't make sure I ate once an hour I would definately pay for it. I too left gingersnaps, club crackers, pepermint candies, and gingerale next to my bed every night and would wake up and eat a cracker and cookie and go back to sleep. I thought of it as just preparing me to get up at all hours of the night with the babies. Soon you will be getting up too pee 3-5 times a night so might as well get used to it. GOOD LUCK |

I had low progesterone 1.4 (it should be 12+ to get pregnant) my husbands test was normal and after the procedure to see if my tubes were clear I took 1 cycle of clomid (100mg). We have boy/girl twins that are 14 months old now! Best thing I ever did after 2+ years of trying!
GOOD LUCK |

I went through the exact same thing you are!!! I would not wish this pain on my worst enemy. I told no one we were trying for 2 years except my best friend. When my husbands brothers girlfriend got "knocked up" we were devistated. When we finally came clean to his parents they were so unsupportive. They didn't understand why we would be upset at all. Get over it, everything happens for a reason, or adopt was the only advice or support we got. Anyways that is what pushed us to finally go get testing. My husband tested fine and after a couple of procedures to make sure my tubes were not blocked and a couple months of blood tests it was determined that I had very low projesterone. Something like 1.2 when it has to be 12 + to get pregnant. We started on clomid 100mg and the next reading was around 45. Happy ending is I have boy/girl twins. All I can say is hang in there! People are cruel and sometimes with good intensions. People who have never gone through this have no idea!! Alow yourself to be sad and mad but never stop hope! I am not religous either but I do thank "someone" everyday.
I am truely sorry that people like cesty8 can't leave you alone even when you ask them to!!!! |
