UGHHH I have the same problem!!! I don't really want to lose any more weight (I'm 5'8" and weigh 129), yet my arm flab is still there no matter how much strength training I do! Should I try losing more weight or just chalk it up to genetics?

I'm finally chipping off some of that last 5 pounds!!! Down to 127.2! I tried alternating calorie intake for a bit... 1200 one day 1400 the next and back and forth... I think it helped! I've also been ignoring the "breakfast, lunch & dinner" mindset and the socially-constructed "eating times" like noon for lunch, 6:00 for dinner, etc. I've found that just eating when I'm physically hungry, regardless of the clock, helps me feel fuller longer and makes it easier to ward off hunger pangs. Before when I'd think at 4:00 "hmm it's too early for dinner I should wait until 5", I'd just end up eating more dinner! Also, if anyone eats diet meals... I wash the little trays they come in that have dividers and use them for portion control. I fill the biggest section with veggies or fruits, and the smaller sections with protein or a small treat. Hope everyone is seeing progress! |

msmeg- Isn't it great when people notice your achievements like that? It's so motivating and makes it so much easier to resist that cookie or chips hahaha. Congratulations! princess a- my goal weight is 125. I am so close but these last 5 pounds are quite stubborn! haha I was also wondering, if anyone knows a lot about metabolism... -I wanna lose 5 more pounds, but I can't lower my calorie intake any further without undereating, and my body has gotten used to my 1200 calorie/day intake... so how do I rev up my metabolism to get the last few pounds off? Thanks in advance for any help :] |

I've been in a plateau for a few weeks and it is so *frustrating*. I started out at 149 a few months ago and I'm down to 130... I'm 5'8". It took me awhile to get down to 130, but better slowly than never, right? Anyway I do a lot of cardio and add weight training a few days per week, and I eat really healthy all the time, but I just can't seem to get any more pounds to come off! Is it possible that 130 is the lowest I can get without losing muscle? |

UMMM anyway, back to the point of the thread...
in answer to your question, I used to work at Outback Steakhouse so I have seen how all the foods are prepared. When I ate there, I would always order the grilled chicken on the barbie that comes with steamed veggies, and would request that both be cooked light on the butter. (Outback is all about "no rules just right" so they don't mind taking special requests!) I also asked for the bbq sauce it is usually served with to be replaced with ketchup. They also have different fish daily that can be prepared sans butter.
Just stay away from their appetizers, they are all horible! |

SO glad to have found this topic! Some things I've found to be helpful in resisting my overwhelming urges to binge: -Thinking about what is MORE important, eating that cookie I'll enjoy for 10 seconds, or looking good in a bathing suit this summer! -Thinking about how proud of myself I'll feel if I resist the urge! -Drinking a bottle of room-temperature water (totally kills my appetite) -Identifying what emotion I'm confusing with hunger... boredom/lonely/stressed etc... and doing something to solve that emotion like calling a funny friend or just taking a nap! -If I screw up early in the day, instead of having the "I'll start over again tomorrow" mentality, I try to clean up my act *right then* and start eating healthy again. -Diet Dr. Pepper almost works as a dessert for me! It's so sweet and *calorie free*!!! -Above all I just try to remind myself that a few seconds of good food isn't worth how long it'll take to work off!!
Good luck to all! :] |
