Have you ladies given up on me yet?

I am glad your sister got home Bonnie. Such a long road she has travelled.

Robbie it sounds like you are better.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

Greetings from the land of the lost.

Bonnie: Sounds like you had a magical anniversary. I am so sorry to read about your sisters PVC's and the passing of your friend.

Robbie: You are busy at work. Wear a sexy black boot. And smack Tom periodically with a rolled up newspaper? (let me know if I am close)

I have tried to read all the posts but if you don't keep up on it daily you fall behind.

Ty Alice. You are right. Weights are good. I need to dig deep. Things are just hard in my life right now.

Bex: I love reading your posts. Things may be hard in my life but you always make me smile.

I will try to be on more often. I need you and miss you all.

Hey Gals

My nearly 3 week vacation is over and I am glad....I am tired. LOL. I finished just about every project that I had on my list. The wood is nearly stacked, the back room cleaned out, the quarterly taxes itemized, the front yard looking less like the Munsters live here ect..... whew.

Now I need to concentrate on me again. I have lost motivation in the gym. So hard to get the ball rolling again. But weight wise I am holding my own. Still, for health reasons I have to recommit.

Robbie, you hurt your ankle? I am so sorry. Would a bottle of wine heal it? Laughing If so I am on my way. I have one more girl to try to cut my hair. If she can't get it closer to Katie then I am coming back.

Strong and lean.  Seeking motivation.

Hi everyone. Sorry about the MIA.

Working around this house. Trimming and cutting back the jungle outside. I cleaned out a room that has been used as storage since we moved in. I plan on moving my office in there and creating a guest bedroom in the old office room. Next week I start splitting the firewood. Whew. I have run a little but mostly I am getting my exercise working around here.

I laughed when I read your post Ohio. I love the lists you make and post.

Okay everyone. It's weedeater and possibly rototiller day. I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

Back from the South! I declare Mis Scarlett ya'll put cole slaw on everythang.....lol.

No chance to run while we were there. It took the entire week just to drive from one house to another and catch up with Max's family. It was very hot and the humidity was intense.

Sounds like people met in SC and didn't take pictures.Frown Oh well LOL I hope you had a great time.

Bonnie your sis is home? I hope I am reading it right,

Congrats to Robbie. You passed and it sounds like you had a lot of fun doing it.

Don't worry if your artistic expression is not understood or appreciated by your family Chris. Few artists are understood. LOL really, I hope it came out nice.

Glad to be home but there is tons of work to be done on this property. I ripped out an old fence today, Then to trim and mow, cut 2 cords of wood and clean out the backroom. First I have 3 more shifts at work.

My greatest challenge was the flights. I suffer from fear of flying in a terrible way. It goes beyond phobia. But I do it. Whew. They were good flights UndecidedIf there is such a thing.

I will check in later.

Bonnie: Nice mowing! You have such a lovely place. I do agree where there is a will there is a way. My only concern running outside in a place I am unfamiliar with is safety. But Max knows the area quite well. He will let me know where I can run.

Ohio: Getting on a horse bareback is a challenge. I find a big rock usually and go for the jump. Once on it is good inner thigh work and overall core balance. I miss Helene too.

Nails are done. Links taken out of my watch so it fits right. Packed. Ready to go.

I will log in if I can while I am gone. If not, Cool see you in a week!

Bex: Congratulations on your marriage. I am sure you and George will be very happy. He got himself one wonderful woman. I hope his feelings are genuine and that he doesn't turn out to be the fake cardboard type. lol

Bonnie: Exercise in not going well. I have to leave tomorrow. I am taking some running clothes but we will be visiting family and I don't know if time will permit and I don't know if they have safe running trails. We are initially staying at his sisters house. I am more comfortable with my own hotel room but it is important to her. If it doesn't work out, then we will check into a hotel and that means I will have a gym. The work starts when I get home. I will return to 3 shifts and then back off for 2 weeks. My vacation starts. (long story on why we are going now.) But during that 2 weeks Peg checks back in to life. The gym for sure and I have at least 2 cords of wood to cut and stack for winter. I will weigh in and measure when I get back and track my progress from there. I am not too worried about food while I am gone because I am not big on the deep fried southern diet that his family live by. I really can't eat it. It lays in my stomach. But this time of year should be packed with fruit and fresh vegetables back there.

Susie is getting fat. New shoes for her when I return and then maybe some riding. Horseback riding is good for you. In my case better because I ride bareback but it is not a primary exercise. It isn't enough. I do it for joy. It gives me the pleasure that golf gives you.

WONDERFUL to see you back Bex. I am jealous of your new husband. He is a peach. LMAO

Sounds like you are doing well. So fun to have your smiles and energy back with us. Time to get out walking or golfing and shed those pounds. Carry your newly betrothed with you. LOL Just toting him around should be good for several hundred extra calories burned.

It isn't about assuming something about someone. You type it. I read it. There is no assumption in that. That is reality. The intimate stuff is what your journal is for. This is an open forum. Let people come here for the support they need. I want to see success stories. More Snowfence, Southern Midwife and Devilish Patsy outcomes. I think we all want that.

Chris: In the " Max" dictionary  Yankee: Born and raised in the North above the Mason-Dixon line.  Damn Yankee: Born and raised above the Mason-Dixon line, moves to the South and won't go hom. I tell him I am neither. While they were fighting that out we were out here just holding on to our scalp's! So according to the "Max" dictionary you are a Yankee. Take heart and pride. Laughing

No one is being hard on EL. She strikes me as a very nice lady who is ultimately here for the same reason as everyone else.  I just have read back in the posts and am not at all comfortable about some of the topics that I have read while I was gone. We are all different people from many walks of life that have come together for a universal purpose. No where in that purpose should we be saying things that make other people feel uncomfortable and make them no longer want to be part of this site. Your sex life, your sex preferences, the size of your man, performance issues. ect. are not okay. There are an amazing amount of web sites you can go to to discuss this.  And quite frankly BEB how do you know there aren't ladies here that are Mormon and if they are don't they have a right to feel comfortable and to join in our universal goal? But if it continues I do know one way to stay on this site and not be subjected to trash talk. There is a little button on my site that says "block" I would encourage anyone who feels they are being bombarded with smut to use it. I don't think there are mean spirited people on this site and I think if it is called to their attention they would be more than happy to think before they post. It is about courtesy. I brought it up because I know of several women on this site who do feel uncomfortable with it. They are kind and shy ladies who don't want to hurt anyone so instead they silently hurt. Consider me their champion. If their feelings are not important, then perhaps it is time for a new thread.

Enough of this junk. Hope today is joyful for everyone and more calories are burned than are consumed.

Hi Kyashiis: The magic formula is to make up your mind once and for all what your goals are and say "Enough with fiddling around I'm going for it" You MAKE yourself exercise. Drink a large glass of water before you eat. If you see a goodie that you shouldn't eat......put a stick of gum in your mouth and make yourself wait 30 minutes (an hour is better) and then reevaluate if you really want it. But it all comes with the personal decision to change. Begin with one change. Don't try to go for all of it at once. For me the most important is the exercise. It is the key. I promise you that.

I will leave advice on the wine to Robbie, Chris, and Bonnie. I enjoy a glass but probably don't consume the equivalency of a bottle a year.

You can do anything you want. First decide how bad you want it.  Self discipline is not a punishment. It is a beautiful and rewarding way to live our lives.

Hi Robbie: I think the differences in terms for the same thing is both cultural and geographical. For instance...Max is from the south. Here are a few differences.

Peg: garden hose....or just hose   Max: hose pipe

Peg: mashed potatoes      Max: creamed potatoes

Peg: egg salad sandwich   Max: deviled egg sandwich

Okay....spicy cilantro lime grilled shrimp just made my mouth water. Now that sounds good!

Pork Chop came home. She was standing on the porch looking at me like I had 2 heads. She is affectionate but not really a people person. I get the impression she considers humans as a necessary evil. She's different.

I know I haven't been on the thread in sometime......but when did we start discussing our sex lives? I am here to motivate and support as well as be motivated and receive support from all of you as we strive for healthy lifestyles. I don't want to know you THAT well. TMI for me.

Have a great day all!

My caloric intake was fine yesterday but the type of food could have been a little better. Not terrible just not a perfect A. I like getting A's lol.

I know what you mean about being busy. I have to pack early because I am working right up until we leave. I can't stand doing things in the eleventh hour.

Looks like we have roomates. A mother (not sure if I am taking skunk, fox, racoon) and her babies moved into the dug out crawl space under this old house. Max thinks it is skunks but there is no odor so I am not convince. He said to leave them alone. She isn't hurting anything and it isn't right to kick a mother and her children out of their home.......uhhhhhhh okay I guess.Undecided Wonder if she is going to pay some sort of rent? LOL

Pork Chop is MIA. She wandered off. Deaf, half blind and 14 years old. We have been combing the streets. Our phone number is on the tags. The older these two get the more tiresome it becomes. She wouldn't listen when she could hear. LOL and she is so independent. Loyalty belongs to Spike. Porky could care less. Thankfully it is a small town. I'll find her.

Bear: Max was born and raised in Concord. All of his family live in that area. Maybe next time we go back we could meet!

Take care.......BONNIE come mow my lawn.Laughing

Hi Ohio: Spike is 11 but approaching 12 quickly. He is so athletic that it took me by surprise to find he had joint pain. Dogs are so much different than humans. They respond to pain differently. They don't know what it is and they adjust. LOL maybe not so different except we DO know what it is and we still adjust.

When I run outside or do anything at home I don't have a heart rate monitor. I put 2 fingers lightly to my jugular vein and count the beats for 6 seconds and then time that by 10. If your heart rate is 130 push a little harder for 5 minutes if you can and then retake. It takes training,. It doesn't happen overnight.

Bear: I have been in the Charlotte area before. Specifically we are going to Concord. I'm glad the weather will be good. I don't experience humidity very often and am looking forward to it. It makes me skin feel good. Train hard in SC!!!! No giving up.

Alice: Well said! I am slacking a bit right now and paying the price but not for long. Sure the walks with Spike will be good but my running is what gets me there. I can run almost an hour with my heart rate at 150 . It is possible to get your heart rate up there and sustain it! It takes training and that takes time. Start with 5 minutes. Work up to ten....ect. You can't just go out there and do it but with repetition your body and especially your cardiovascular system will respond. Being in our 50's has nothing to do with it. I can keep my sodium down and processed food is not a problem. But I struggle with drinking water. I don't seem to have the drink mechanism in my brain. I never count housework as calories burned. Just remember to talk with your doctor and use your head. And once you get to that level of fitness it is pretty cool. And the weight will give.

Helene: Sounds like you have had a hard day. Smile.

Sending out warm positive thoughts to all of you on this thread.

LOL Chris: I thought the picture of Bonnie WAS her new haircut! I will be very close to where your brother lives. That is so good he can get to PA for your mother's birthday.

Well, I have found my motivation. It came at the vet's office. Although Spike is suffering from degeneration of his hips, the vet recommends he get daily exercise along with his medication and injections. Looks like the treadmill is still in but daily vigorous exercise outside with my dog is a must! I want him to stay as healthy as he can for as long as possible.

Weighing in........yuck. I won't do that until I feel a little lighter. No reason to torture myself. I have put on a little weight. My jeans tell me so! I understand when Chris says she feels pudgy today. Scales may give a number but the clothes never lie.

EL: May every day finds you feeling better. It is my hope that this flare up will pass quickly. (Like now!)

My quote for the day is an old one but good one. I send it out to all of you as we work to stay on track and to our beloved pets who love us no matter. "It's not the dog in the fight. It's the fight in the dog."

Bonnie and CC : Thank you for the encouragement.  I really appreciate the motivation. I don't know if I can still run 5 miles on the treadmill. I will set a goal of 3 miles and see how I do.  What I have found is, it isn't how far you run or how fast you run. It is all about how long you run. You need adequate intensity that is sustained. I will start by running for 30 or 40 minutes and slowly build myself back up. an 8 week hiatus isn't terrible. But 8 turns to 9 to 10. Next thing the pants don't fit and I get short of breath walking around the block.

Wonderful quote Bonnie! (btw I love your haircut)

Finally a much more peaceful night at work. Whew. But once again the stress of being up all night kicked up the cortisol and I know I failed miserably in my caloric intake. I would love to undo some damage on the treadmill this morning but Spike has a doctor's appointment. He may have to retire as a running partner. He has degenerative arthritis in his hips. It's pretty severe. I have had him on medication and it helps but the vet wants to try some injections. First one is this morning. Guess after that I get to give them to him.  I hate to give him a shot but on the other hand it saves him the stress of the vets office.

I have to start getting back to my cardio routine. For me, there is nothing takes off and keeps off my weight like regular  exercise!  I can watch what I eat, pay attention to sugar intake, increase my protein, zig zag my calories, and count every calorie......but the results always come when I am being mindful of what I eat and getting approx 60 min of moderate to strong cardio exercise 4 times a week. Where I lacked the last time was the weights. But I know at any age it is possible to lose the weight. I had to ask myself  "How bad do you want it Peg?"  And now I am asking myself again. I have not run on the treadmill in almost 8 weeks. I haven't been on the scale but I can feel that my weight is up a little. I worked very hard at the beginning of this year and shed almost 15 pounds. I know I am busy but when aren't our lives busy?  I am still low on motivation. It is the same question looking at me again "How bad do you want it Peg?"

Good Morning to you all!

Hi CC:  Carol and I will be in North Carolina..not South Carolina. I won't be able to meet her because we will be too far away from each other.  Never know, maybe another opportunity will present  itself sometime. I would have liked to have met at the bakery Ohio recommended. Sounded decadent and down right fun! Life and weight choices aren't about an occasional cinnamon roll. It is about day in and day out and the choices we make with consistency.

Wonderful to see you on the thread Snow! Sounds like you are doing well.

EL: Love the saying about men and women.

Work has been very hard and very physical. Working out after 12 1/2 hours at a dead run hasn't been too appealing. I'll get there, though. But for now, it's hi ho off to work I go.

Too much sugar in my diet but my caloric intake was good. Sigh...

I haven't gotten on the scales I know I am up a little but I also know it isn't a terrible weight gain. One thing I know for sure is that at this age it is more than possible to lose. I just need treadmill motivation. It will come. This site always gets me moving.
