This might not be very polite, but I just wanted to say that I love this topic! Nothing quite compares to a good bowel movement!

I also call ahead when possible to arrange for special meals. Most airlines will offer low sodium, no dairy, veg., low cal etc., so long as you call beforehand to arrange it. Based on my experience, no matter what meal you request, they are ALWAYS better tasting and healthwise than the alternative.

Have a great trip!

while posting this I am eating egg whites, pumkin, spinach and yam noodles all microwaved. The sad part is that I don't think this is abnormal... I walk home faster from work just to eat it!

You can find Jocalat bars at a few places in Kensington, at the St. Lawerence market, whole foods, and I think at Fresh n' Wild. Hope that helps!

I was at Whole Foods (Yorkville) just this past Tuesday and they had no Jocalat : ( Frankly when I did try Hazelnut Chocolate i was a bit underwhelmed but I still wanna try some other flavours : P

I don't even eat bars like Jocalat, Lara, etc. but I thought of you today and wanted to pass on that Magnolia on College has a big selection of Jocalat bars.

All I can recommend beyond what the others have suggested is to carry a clutch and a drink. It's hard to eat when the hands are full. I also think you should indulge in the best of the best, that goes for company and foods!

with respect you were driving full speed into this place back in april when you posted about starving and feeling miserable. you were told then how much to eat. that you persisted in doing what you did makes you responsible for being in this awful place. there is only so much a forum like this can do. you asked for answers - you got them, you ignored them and now you are back acting as though you suddenly woke up and found yourself in this heartbreaking place?

come on? assume some responsibility here.

the advice remains the same. work with your team. and be aware that you are in control of all your actions. good and bad. if you dont like where you are. change it

To the OP: For what it's worth, you should be proud that you're strong, intelligent and brave enough to take the necessary actions to regain your health. I have every confidence that you already are in the process of making positive changes, and will persevere through some of the challenges that may be presented to you along the way.

The fact that you've sought professional help, accepted that changes need to happen, and are following through is a testament to your capabilities. While I also think forums such as this can be a great support and resource, please take the "advice" here (which is all too often only judgements and opinions over advice) with a grain of salt. The last thing you need is to lose a second of your precious time having to read negative comments about you or your current situation.

Kudos to you. I wish you strength, vitality and happiness and look forward to your updates!

I live in a city where there is a huge, lovely selection of Pho. I love it too, but haven't been having any since calorie counting. I'm always concerned about the sodium (something that really doesn't agree with me) and overall calories.

If anyone here has recommendations as to lower sodium common Pho (preferably with meat or fish), as well as guesstimates of higher ranges of cals (it's a guessing game, so I'd rather look at it as top heavy) I'd really appreciate your shared wisdom!

I'll try to make them at home, will be cheaper. After all, it's just dates and nuts. :)

I LOVE Stonemill 11 grain bread--60 cal/slice with lotsa good stuff in it (in Ontario--haven't seen it out west).

I've been making my own Larabars for a while now. I have a pretty detailed recipe on my blog (can access it from my CC profile). They taste pretty well EXACTLY the same, and have the same nutritional info. Haven't attempted Jocalat bars yet...I've stopped seeing them in health food stores in my area actually (Toronto), but I just found PB&J Larabar at Superstore a few days ago!!!

And I LOVE Stonemill bread! We get the Omega-3 enriched one from Costco - two huge loaves for one low price. Loveeeee <3

Hi guys,

I need some help. I don't know what it is, but the moment I gave myself a deadline (for the record, my deadline was to lose about 6 pounds from the time this groups started until Oct. 24th...I've never given myself one in the past), I have done nothing but go back and forth each week.

I work my butt off everyday at the gym, lose 2lbs, and then by Thursday I sabotage myself and by Sunday I'm back to where I started.

I have a photo shoot that I booked for myself for personal reasons, and I also have a partner returning home from overseas, so I'm sure the pressure has everything to do with it. It's just that now I have less than a week to go, and I feel like I've wasted a month working out only to let myself down every week.

If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it. I'm pretty down on myself. Sorry :(

I completely understand what you are saying, but in my case I had a change of thoughts lately I decide to go for positive stress than negative, keep your self busy and do not think that you have been sabotaging your self, forget about it, I know it is hard but, you need to accept things you cannot change, like if your partner is returning home, there is nothing you can do about it, and if you can, Well.,,, do it...

"Don't worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum"

Watch this video you will feel better....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CVB8YSOLK4

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I guess sometimes, it's just nice to hear that someone else can relate.

I've been thinking a lot today that I should just be thankful for my health, and stop fussing over all this out of vanity.

Original Post by 130by30:

when i'm cold instead of eating to warm up I do some exercise (get my heart rate up) and then i drink a herbal tea.  I try not to eat to remedy my body temperature, it's counter-productive, only eat to fulfill my nutirition needs not to warm myself.  I think i'd wind up eating more doing that than just eating for the pleasure of eating. I've pretty much given up on "hot chocolate" or "warm milk with honey" until i reach my goal. Sucks but true. It will pay off in the end I hope :)

other ideas:

take a hot shower/take a bath

vacuum the house (move around)

put a sweater on or put a tank top under your t-shirt

my fave is just go on the treadmill/elliptical for 20 minutes, then you're not only warmed up but you're also energized!

Thanks, I appreciate your advice and while I hear what you're saying, I work out quite a bit already. I also walk or bike everywhere, and I'm naturally cold all of the time anyway. Considering I have to eat, it's about this time of year that I really need (and crave) warm food. Thanks again for your input!

Oh yeah, the waxing/ hair appointments etc are in full effect. The one thing I'm a bit concerned about is that I have a commitment the morning of the shoot to a fundraiser I'm doing that will require me to work out really hard for about three hours (it's a climb for a charity).

Thanks for the reply..!

Carmen, I'm used to the 4% which is 190 calories.  Its not so much the calories I worry about as the fat and the other stuff I guess.  But unfortunately that's what makes it so good haha.

I might just try to get used to the 2% or 1%...at least until I have developed the will-power to keep my portions low on the 4%.  I'm at the very beginning of my weigh-loss journey and I don't think I'm 'there' yet but hopefully that's not too far down the road.

I will try draining it too....the watery parts really make sick to my tummy.

Thanks for all your help, guys

hmm.. I've never seen 4% cottage cheese before. We only have 2%, 1% and fat free in Canada

...or at least in the part of Canada I'm from

Just a side note, we do have 4% cottage cheese in Canda, along with dry, pressed etc.
