The Lounge How do I stop being clingy and insecure!? Nov 23 2009

I guess you could take a little bit of both kinds of advice, and maybe just take a break from the relationship for awhile to work on yourself. If its really true love, a  break will certainly do less harm than wishing you were dead. Gain some perspective, it'll come one way or another in the future, but why don't you take charge of it instead of it running you over. Take charge and listen to yourself, don't run to CC & don't run to him.

I personally like myself. Took me awhile to realize this, but I would actually like myself as a friend. Sure I have my good points & bad, but I'm comfortable with myself as a person. I'm sure there are folks out there who would not want themselves as friends.

I do think the program would be beneficial given your goal of fat loss.

I don't know, stage 2 surely burned a few things away on me. And Cosgrove's hierarchy of fatloss states 1st nutrtion, then 3 days of lifting, etc.

And scale movement is overrated especially since you are really not that heavy.

Not sure what you don't agree with from my response...I DO think the program would help with fat loss, although obviously proper nutrition comes first.  Did I miss something?

oops my bad, i guess my eye sight is going in my old age!!! so sorry.SealedFoot in mouth

I think you have 4 options 1 just be up front with her and maybe adjust your habits

2 take her out and get drunk with her... That could turn out two ways

3 let it go

4 remain paranoid and uncomfortable around her

Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought the main enzyme that breaks down protein was protease, which you would need to break down any kind of protein, even the protein in oats. So I can't see how it would just 'stop' producing it.

I won't get into whether you were wrong here or there. But I do know from hard experience to try to not let people you work with (& even more so people that you don't really like), too seriously.  Think of it as a practice in learning to let small things go.

Thank you hilary77, that was a lot of help.

As for where exactly in the EU I will be going back to; it will be Portugal. Now, Portugal is insanely hot during the summer and insanely cold (no snow, just ice) during the winter. That is why I'm worried. :C

Ah Portugal! Love Portugal. Ok well you won't have to worry too much about it being very very dark early, so that's a start. If you said, Finland, well good luck. Any ice skating there?

As the years go by and as I'm getting older I find more and more and younger people being aggrevated and mad about things.... things that won't bring the end of the world for sure!  Why so much anger? Please don't take it personally but go do some volunteer work for your neighborhood, or help a friend, or meet one, or go for a run or to the gym, maybe read a great book, cook for your family... find peace with your self!!  And like my great boss sais:  GET EXCITED!!!!!!

ha, i find so many older people doing the same.

My neighbors tried for months to get their Adjustable Rate Mortgage modified!  Now they have to sell their place because it just never happened and next year their payments increase two fold.

I don't think it's so much a question of too many people about to lose their homes as the banks don't seem to give a damn about getting back to people and helping them.  Heartless banks!  They are stupid.

Great! Thanks for answering though. But really she doesn't care at this point, she just wants to know the best & right thing to do.

Ugh don't start me on the banks, even the ones here. We have our own little situation here, as we bought our apartment on the last few months of the boom here in Ireland. It sickens me to hear about how apartments closer to town & more space are less than half of what we paid. The bigger banks are being a little more forgiving in Ireland, but the people that are in real trouble are the ones who have some sort of 3rd party mortgage (or something like that). They are like my mother & I feel for them.

Depends where in the EU you are going back to? There's a difference between Spain vs Ireland. I find it really hard here with it getting dark so soon.

It's not going to harm you, but from everything I've seen and read it's not going to be particularly helpful either - the excess protein either gets excreted or it's converted to glucose though gluconeogenesis. It's kinda pointless to eat protein your body converts to carbs for you when you can just have the carbs directly in my view, particularly when you're leading an active lifestyle that depends a lot on carbs to fuel your exercise, neh?

There are also theories that if you have too much protein your body starts to use protein as its main energy source. Which you don't want. I have not looked into this too much as I have a hard enough time getting mine tho. Perhaps Mr. Melkor could shed some light on this.

Can you estimate how many cals you are burning? And how about some weights for some extra muscle mass, not to mention more strength will make you a better rower. You seem to have your endurance down pat. And realize that the body adapts to what ever exercises you do continually (ie you burn slightly less calories, not sure how many less tho).

I 3rd that! Especially with the amount of eggs I eat. But if I had a cat or dog I'd give it to them. Supposed to make their coats nice and shiny.

Dunno. Is Canada being bankrupted by their healthcare system? Just because it would be the government's responsibility to control fraud, waste and abuse, doesn't neccessarily mean they'd fail at it.

It does kind of make you wonder what is going on with Canada. Since Canada is probably the closest sisterly country to us (even tho really they are part of the common wealth & still the queen's subjects Wink).  Some EU countries are using more privatization than before (but before anyone gets excited they are mainly non-profit). I have not looked into this too much just heresay from a good few EU peeps & a few little readings here and there.  Everyone wants to discuss healthcare with me all of a sudden.

Who is being hypocritical, lys?

The folks who identify with a group identity, then criticize others for observing/commenting on/analyzing that group identity.

There's a difference in mentioning something that has happened to you and stereotyping it to an entire group of people multiple times.

I've had Koreans push me, yell at me, etc because I'm white here yet I don't constantly assume that every Korean is the same way (and I'm most definitely the minority here).

 SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

You know it would be so easy for you to do that too, and I'm sure there are some people who would say you might have some justification, but its always nice to hear of people that know better.

i know white people get crap too, that isn't fair, i never said it was. but one of your questions was about why its ok for a person to rag on about their race and why it may not be too cool for a different person of a different race to say the same. its like the family thing. allydan i think said it best. and again all contextual. im not saying its fair to call you a nazi (im assuming you are german descent) but you wouldn't take it as bad as an actual german would just because of the context their personal association/experience.

the term "cracker" came about back in the slave days. the slaves would call us white folk "crackers" because of how they would crack the whips on the slaves' backs. it has nothing to do with food.

Good to know... and yet makes me feel worse about the word - I liked it better when I thought it was a reference (albeit somewhat arbitrary) to saltines.

ooo, well ya learn something new every day. im not sure if i did want to learn that tho, like amethy said i like the food reference better. then again we all like food which is why we are here in the first place.

Well I guess that's one of the few perks about being tri-racial, I get to call just about anyone anything I want, haha.  But seems I can't make fun of little people, sigh (j/k).

Seriously though, I'm not sure about the privileged majority thing. If I heard a non-white person call a white person a cracker with venom, I'd actually think 'racist'.

And for Germans (I'm talking about actual Germans here that live in Germany), it is very offensive to just go around and call them Nazis.  But that's because in school they were really made to feel some personal responsibility for what happened WI & WII, even though they were not even born yet. But I think being American-German is not the same.  Again its all contextual and knowing where the sensitivities are.
