| Weight Loss | I'm addicted to potato chips - HELP! | Dec 17 2008 18:06 (UTC) |

I feel your pain. What I have done it buy the Ruffles or Lays "Light" chips, the ones made with Olean. 70 cals a serving and I know if I eat too may I'll suffer the ill effects of eating too much of anything fried in Olean (google it if you don't know what I'm speaking of) Lately I've been looking for other alternatives, since like you, I like spicy and other flavors rather than plain old. I recently got a good deal on a snack called "Wingers" http://www.buffalonickelwingers.com/site/ They are more like a puffed potato snack shaped like little drumsticks, the have 5 flavors from barbecue to buffalo bleu cheese. and are 120 cals a 1 oz serving.. which is a nice serving since they are so light. I've only had the level 1 (barbecue) and the level 5 (buffalo bleu cheese so far but I really really like them. The site will tell you if they sell them anywhere locally, but you can always buy them from Amazon.com if not. Happy munching ;O) |

Actually, the bread I use is only 35 calories a slice. Each slice is on the smaller side and it seems to have more air incorporated into the dough, but ti's still very good. |

Look at it this way... a 8 oz glass of Dr.Pepper has Calories 100 Calories from Fat 0 % Daily Value * Total Fat 0g 0% Saturated Fat 0g 0% Cholesterol 0mg 0% Sodium 35mg 1% Total Carbohydrate 25g 8% Dietary Fiber 0g 0% Sugars 25g Protein 0g I wouldn't be surprised if these values where quite close to a lot of those 100 cal packs that some people swear by. As long as you don't overdo it.. everything can fit into your diet. ;O) Best of luck to you, Mike |

Original Post by odie03: Actually, I was not trying to be rude, maybe a bit firm, but not rude. The "crazy" comment was a play on her "crazy healthy" label she gave to her eating habits. Under a 1000 calories with I'd say about 80% or more coming strictly from carbs with absolutely NO balance of nutrients... well It's just not in me to label that as "sane" The fact that the main reason for the OP desire to lose weight seems to be (now I'm not stating fact, just the vibe I get from your other posts) it to make her ex fiancee jealous. This may be leading her to "extreme" measures in order to shed pounds faster, which sadly is probably going to come back to haunt her. Sorry if I seem a bit harsh, but I see too many people on these forums talking about malnourishing themselves in order to lose a few quick pounds. |

I've always considered a "pat" of butter to be a tsp, not a Tbsp. This thread made me curious so I broke out my scale and measured a tsp of butter. It weighed around the 5 grams that CC says it should at around 36 calories. Looking at the butter I measured, it very much looked like the amount you would find in a restaurant "pat" Hope this helps Mike

No one can just "give you the answer" everyones body is different and sometimes you just have to experiment a little with calories taken in and burnt till you see results. Obviously what you are doing now isn;t working for your body, you need to shake it up a bit. Eat more and maybe try some new exercises. |

Are you eating the 1350 consistently? Perhaps your best bet would be to eat more maybe around 1500 and exercise more? I'd make sure you don't cross that 705 safety deficit tho. |

Here I did it for you: Your Estimated BMR (calculated at http://phord.com/cc): BMR=1350 :: RMR=1620 Your customized recommendation: EAT 1350 calories :: BURN 1944 calories :: LOSE 1.19 lb per week Reasoning: Deficits: Your deficit is the difference between how many calories you eat and how many calories you burn. Your recommended deficit is 594 calories. This is the least of your Activity Deficit (594 calories), your Safety Deficit (705 calories), and your Maximum Fat Calorie Expenditure (1040 calories). Activity Deficit (594 calories): This is the number of calories you burn in your daily activities (such as being awake, driving to work, exercising, doing homework, etc.). This is an estimate based on the amount of exercise you indicated you do each week in the form above, averaged out for daily deficit numbers. For sedentary individuals this is 20% of your BMR. Safety Deficit (705 calories): Nutritionists say that you can safely lose no more than 1% of your body weight per week. For the weight you gave (141 lb), you can safely lose about 1.41 lb per week. Because each pound of body fat contains 3500 calories of energy, your safe deficit is 1.41 lb * 3500 calories per pound per week = 4935 calories per week, which comes to 4935 / 7 = 705 calories per day. Maximum Fat Calorie Expenditure (1040 calories): One study found that body fat in humans can be converted to energy at a maximum rate of 31 calories per pound of actual body fat per day. Any energy you expend beyond this rate comes from your intake of nutrients and the breakdown (catabolysis) of your muscles. Weight loss in most people consists of about 75% FAT and 25% MUSCLE. Since we can calculate the actual amount of body fat in your body using your Body Fat Percentage (if given), we can determine the optimal calorie deficit to focus on FAT BURN instead of MUSCLE LOSS. To optimize your FAT BURN instead of MUSCLE LOSS, you should choose a deficit that does not exceed this value. (Persons wishing to lose muscle as well as fat can ignore this deficit limit.)

My guess is.. herein lies the problem.... This is one of your posts. Weight Loss Can't get under 140 !!! Feb 21 2008 Thanks Angie1004 I will try it. Should I still eat 1200 calories but try to get 50 or more grams of protein or should I eat 1400 calories. I know it is stupid but I am scared to eat more than 1250 calories. I'm guessing, your weight came off fast at first because your are taking as little food in as possible, and you are exercising a good bit right? The first rush of weigh most likely included water weight, and now it seems you have hit a plateau. Another reason you may be having trouble losing... your body feels it's at a goos weight. Based upon your current Body Mass Index (BMI) of 24.2, you are currently
classed as at a healthy weight.
My only suggestion would be to eat more, exercise harder and try to tone up.

R.I.P Myron Cope ;O(
I still have the old hooded box, maybe I could try putting it at the end of the hallway where he goes. Being that it is hooded It might keep little one out of it. My thought it tho, would the box have to be in the EXACT spot where he goes? SOme times its closer to the back of the corner of the hall, most times it a foot further up... smack dab in the entrance to my bedroom. He also seems to like to use the box I have in the garage for him, and I try to let him out there as much as possible. |

Thanks for everyone replying! I never heard of the foil idea. I have thought of a second litter box. In fact I thought maybe the hooded box I had was getting a bit cramped for Snape, who is now twice the size of Katie. I bought a huge box, and he does still do his busines sin there usually. My house is pretty small and all one level, where he pees is maybe 20 feet from his box. I've found quite a few products that do get the smell out, but they don't stop him from doing it again. Even the cheaper stuff that works is still runnign about 6 bucks a bottle and I go thru about one a week. I Don't know if I can do the foil, or the pepper.. or really anything else on the floor there with a 2 year old running around the house all day. I did once however layer a bunch of old throw rugs in his spot thinking at least I could just throw them in the washer and not have to scrub carpet. Lil prick just worked n worked n either turned over or pulled them all away and did his business. I've heard of the behavior problems before, and that sometimes the cat is put on a "kitty prozac" to help them from stressing. I just don't think it's worth it really .. |

Yanno I though of that. Because the last people here had a huge ass dog, and I thought that back hallway smelled a bit off when we moved in. I had forgotten all about that theory. The only problem with that is, 1. It's a rental and I really don't want to replace carpet in a house I don't own 2. I'd hate to replace (even tho I might be able to get away with just doing like half the hallway) only to have him continue and have to either replace it again when I move, or had it professionally cleaned when I move. It might come to replacement tho, thanks for re-triggering that idea. |
