Original Post by ehp1975:
Ok, I have multiple suggestions (sweet tooth anyone? LOL!!)
Edy's makes two kinds of light ice creams: fully loaded and slow churned 1/3 less fat (http://edys.com/main/index.asp?b=105 check out the "Loaded" and the "Fun Flavors" tabs). You have to look at the nutrition info so you don't accidentally buy the full fat ones, but a 1/2 cup serving of these ice creams is 120-150 calories and they are AMAZING. They have cookie dough, cookies and cream, etc., and they regularly have limited edition flavors (a few months ago it was girl scout cookie flavors, so they had a thin mint one and a samoas one. Now they have a drumstick flavor that has pieces of ice cream cones and chocolate covered peanuts--YUM!!).
For indivually wrapped items, I find that most of the Weight Watcher's ones are the best. They have a Giant Cookies and Cream bar that is SO good (and only 140 calories) and good ice cream sandwiches.
I also do a variation on the ice cream sandwich kbattiato mentioned. Instead of using graham crackers, I use Quaker mini chocolate rice cakes.
Ok, that's all I can think of right now...
Edy's has a Smore's Limited Edition out right now that is to die for! |

Favorite Between Meal Snacks? |

- Any fruit or vedge is a great choice. I would recommend having the fruit with some type of nut butter, nut, or seeds and the vedge with hummus or nut butter (remember from elementary school the celery, peanut butter, and raisin "ants on a log" recipe) - to quench your hunger.
- Ever tried laughing cow cheese? Take that and spread it on a flat out wrap and toast it. I also take a smudge of refried beans, salsa, and some jalapeños and put that on a flat out wrap and toast that. Another option I do sometimes is to take some peanut butter and spread it on a flat out wrap and toast that and put a banana on top. Or you could just forget about toasting it all together and have it cold.
-Shrimp cocktail, raw imitation crabmeat, and canned/packaged tuna.
-Luna bars/larabars/gnu bars/any type of granola bar are great every once in a while.
-The classic yogurt & whatever you feel like adding combo. Any cereal, any fruit, any nut, any seed, any granola you want. |

Take one whole-grain Kangaroo pocket and put it in the toaster to get all warm and crispy on the outside. Then put one wedge of laughing cow into the pocket and squish it to spread it out. MMMMMM... it's like a grilled cheese sandwich but with great food value.! I also like it spread on a warm bagel. I think it's best treated like cream cheese spread. :)
I second this motion! I do this often with flat out wraps and laughing cow cheese. So gooey and delicious. Also on a side note: I put refried beans and salsa a lot on flat out wraps toasted with onions and jalapenos. Yumm |

I HAVE to have some sort of dessert every night.
Some of my favorite things to have are yogurt & granola/nuts/dried fruit/seeds, smoothie/milkshake, or froyo/ice cream.
I'm with cole37 with the Edy's. They have so many amazing flavors - cookies & cream is at the top, butterfinger, caramel praline crunch froyo, and girl scout thin mint rank high in my book as well. |

I'm a fan of cashews & almonds as well. As long as you're balancing your nutrition I think you should be fine. Like many others that have replied, I cannot go a day without having a few nuts or some nut butter. Even if it's a bit in oatmeal or yogurt or a spread on some toast.
+++ I recommend pecans, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. |
