Weight Loss what have you done for a Flat Stomach for Summer Jun 07 2009

My solution to not having a Bikini body...Rash Guard Swim wear.  :)  My DP thinks they are way sexier anyways.

I really don't have much other advice other than what everyone else has suggested.  Just remember when you want quick result you are likely to quit and gain it all back more quickly.

15 days left until summer!!!!

I have been away for awhile and it wasn't because I was CHEATING or FELL off the wagon.  I live out in the boonies of NC and lost my phone modem to bad weather last Friday....we finally got it fixed and I am back.

I got on the scale after a few weeks of it maintaining the same weight..and I am at 171.25. :)

I might not lose a full 10lbs by summer but I'll be pretty close. :)

I decided I preferred to have the *mess* somewhere else, lol. And I'm glad...it was pretty messy :-/

The honest truth is that I never saw any of the mess myself! The midwives sorted everything out while I was cuddling the baby and relaxing. By that time, I was completely out of it and hardly noticed what was going on around me.

I did not have to prepare anything beforehand either. In the UK, you can pretty much decide at the last minute that you want to have the baby at home, although it probably helps to let them know in advance. Also, you can change your mind at the last minute and go to the hospital after all.

If you're in the UK, you could plan to go for a homebirth, and then if you decide when the time comes that you would rather go to hospital, that would also be an option. Perhaps that would be a way of calming your fears?

PS: You can also ask for gas & air at home.

You are SOO lucky to be in the UK.  The US's maternity care is horrible, unless of course you like the whole being told exactly what to do by MD's who supposedly have your best interest at heart.  I would HATE to see what would happen to our maternity care if it were in the hands of the Gov't.  I could easily see the AMA running off the midwives for good.

I recaculated my calories, and it seems about right now.  I was eating 1450 calories but it didn't include what I was doing when I worked out!  I always seem to over eat.

CC has me at 1550 calories and I plan on tracking that today, and adding more calories to breakfast (going to be hard becasue I Don't like to eat breakfast).  Hopefully that will help the scale move for next week.

Stephanie.  I have had it happen to me, where my calories and defict were dead on for weight loss and the scale didn't move for nearly a month. Then suddenly I dropped 5lbs in a week.  That 10lbs for the summer might show up all at once.

25 Days Left!!!

Sadly guys I haven't lost any weight.  My fitness and stamina have increased in Spin class and doing exercise videos but the scale isn't moving.  I think I am going to have to recalute my calorie needs.  I seem to be VERY VERY hungry and thus lately I have been over eating.

So where is everyone at!

I worked out yester and then stepped on teh scale.  :( It was a dissappointing 175.  Who knows why it went up. I have been doing well and working out. I want to think its because the big O time is coming any day now.

Denise

sunshinebaby,

there are tools on this site that help you determine when the goal date should be. by calculating your height, weight, gender, and age, it determines a healthy schedule for you. that's why i like the site; it seems to be more personal to my own needs not a generalization.

Denise,

I feel your pain. I started at 182 and had gone down to 180 But when i got on the scale last night it said 185! It is so discouraging but i have to remind myself that you gain water weight just before your period (which i should start any day) and muscle weighs more than fat. you may not have dropped physical pounds, but you can be turning it into muscle by working out. these are just ways i look at it to keep myself motivated!

I have to remind myself of that too. My waiste and thighs are smaller but the scale isn't refleting that and yes its frustrating.  Normally I don't 1 or 2lbs loss as a loss until its gone for a few weeks.  LOL.

I am also one of those women who chart my cycles, and I always gain a pound or two around ovulation.  Funny when naturally you should be your sexiest (that is if you plan on making a baby) your body bloats.

I kind of fell of the wagon also. Would like to lose 10 pounds. Is this possible and what kind of work are we talking about. It's like I almost forgot how to lose weight. I just can not seem to get it together again, which is very discouraging. Can anyone help. Anyone have any suggestions. Count me in too. What is the plan.

Here's the Plan. WE counting down our weight along with the days until summer.

Post your stats, your motivations, ask for help, support a friend. Exercise and count your calories.  By the end of it all you should have lost 8 to 10lbs.

I can only speak from a different prospective. I had a HIGHLY medicalized labor. IT WAS AWFUL and far from anything I had wanted.  I realize labor hurts and it did but the over all hospital experience was Horrible.

However, after wards I was great.  I won by my womanhood with my DS.  I took control over him and me while we were in the hospital and after we got home.

I have some things that I do to keep going.  First I try to be active outside for at least 2 hours a day..even if its walking around the yard picking up stuff or pushing DS around the yard on his toys.

I also try to work out at least 3 days a week for no less than 30 minutes. It helps that I have Satellite and get FIT TV.  THat channel has been a life saver on days when I SImply don't feel like driving.

I Get my kids active too!  IF you have Kids, its very important to involve them. This means going for a hike or sometimes playing "Cops and Robbers". They'll remember it forever, and you'll get some much needed activity.  DId I mention that they'll learn from you!

I need atleast 350 calories for Breakfast. This is often very difficult for me to achieve. Some mornings all I will have is coffee.  I FORCE at least 350 calories.  Not easy but it keeps away the mid afternoon binge.

Tonight I am going to Spin Class. I am pretty excited about it.  The people in the class have been begging me to come back every time they see me at the gym.  So I guess this will be a regular thing.

****36 days left****

What are you guys doing over the weekend to keep you from falling back to your old ways??

The weekends are sometimes the toughest for me.  DP and the kids are all home.  Sometimes we go out with friends.  I have found just being a little relaxed about my habits while still making good choices keep things in prospective.  For example, Yesterday I went to a movie with a friend.  I used to get the Jumbo Popcorn and Jumbo Soda one it was a lot, and number two because of free refills.  This trip however, DS and I shared a kids sized soda and popcorn and he ate the candy.

Later that day we had a "Family fun" picnic.  I opted out of the pizza and cake for Fruit with no dips.

Today I FORCED myself to work out too!  That's possibly the hardest on weekends for me to do.  WIthin 15 minutes of starting the work out both of the kids were in my room workout with me!! Hehehe. I out lasted both of them.

I am soo excited to see everyone who wants to jump in and get a little more weight off.

There's 37 days until Summer! I would like to this group as a count down.  We count down the days, we count down our weight!

I plan on updating the title of our thread every so often with how many days we have left.

For me my motivation comes from family and this website.  I really really want to be someone on the front page who has met their goals.  Plus there's sooo many people on this board who'ev either been where we are at or right in the same boat.

I LOVE popcorn too!  I make my pop corn on the stove, then I use Popcorn Seasoning and a little bit of butter. Yes I said BUTTER.

As of Yesterday I was 174.25lbs.  I think my weight Teusday was a result of eating before hitting the Gym.  My goal, 164 by Summer.

Hello everyone.

I apologize to everyone in this group for kinda neglecting the thread for the past few weeks. I have been soo busy with school and now that its finally over, and my family is finally getting settled again from a few weeks of activities (spring break, camping, concerts ect)  I can devote LOTS of time to you guys.

Some quick things.

last I wieghed I was back at 177.  :(  So I gained a few pounds.

DP noticed I hadn't gone to gym in a while, and rightfully so..we really don't have gas for three trips a week into town JUST for the gym.  I have to try and make time here at home for a while.

We'ev been sharing meals as a family in front of the TV and I think that's lead to some weight gain....I normally get seconds if I am not sitting at the table (isn't that weird).

I plan on PM'ing everyone tonight, to remind everyone that we are still a group, and we all need a swift kick in the butt to meet our goals!

THe scale doesn't lie, my body is finally losing weight.  :) I am soo excited about this.  The next two weeks are going to be CRAZY!.  DP and I are going on night away (we'ev only been a way from DS one other time over night) to see a concert, and then we'ev got four days of camping at a music Festival.

I know there's a lot going on for everyone right now. I have a 10 page paper, plus a final coming up at the end of the month, plus I am looking for an internship.  Not to mention Graduation which I WILL Not miss, though I am 2 hours away.

I weighed myself Teusday evening at the gym and my weight was dead on 177. That means I have lost a full pound.  :)

While at the gym I had one of the trainers show me how to use the Weight Machines. Its been a LONG time since I used those types of machines and needed a refresher.

I think I am going to join the 6PM spin class on Teusday nights. Two weeks in a row I have been asked if I'll be coming back. I have been armed with an excuse the whole time, but I could certainly use the motivation from 10 or so very inshape people.

Fitness Running Shoes cost Mar 24 2009

Thanks for the tips guys.  The last running shoes I bought were in highschool (8 years ago). I found them at Marshalls for under $50 (I waited for them to go on sale when spring came around) , every thing else i have used for running was considerably cheaper, however in that time I have been a lot less active.  I had a baby, plus school, working, (everything that happens to you when you become an adult).  I wasn't really running, more less lumbering around through life.

Again, thanks!

Check In Day!  Yeah.

I haven't weighed, but after the sort of week I have had I'd rather not!!!

After I checked in Last week, it was a roller coaster of Budget sorting, things to do, and places to go.  By the time shopping came around  I had forgotten about my need for a journal.  The reason is because I haven't logged calories, and I totally forgot.

I have been riding my bike over the past week or so.  I really plan on getting back in the gym, some of the physical progress I have made is waining.

Good News,  after much arguing and debate our family finally arrived at a solution for dinner time.  All male members of the house hold get one night a week to pick a dinner of their choice.  I get two nights a week.  The other two nights are pasta or soup night.  As the cook I reserve the right to prepare meals in such a way that would reduce calorie content without comprimising taste and enjoyability.

Last night was DS's night, and he wanted Mac n CHeese.  I made Mac n CHeese with Sharp cheddar and butter.  IT WAS SOO good, but I didn't come on here to find out the calorie content per serving.  I fell off the wagon todays in a row, first Sunday I made Fried chicken with Mashed Taters, Corn, and Green Beans, then last night was mac n cheese.

I'll be back with my weight. I plan on going to they gym this afternoon.

Comittment is about all you need.  I have learnd from the past failures that I cannot really rely on anyone to help me make personal changes.  Sad but true.

I like the online support that I get, plus with me being a bit of "leader", I feel comitted to the ladies in this thread..who knows by summer we'll all have reached our goals.  :)

Sorry ladies, I didn't check in last week, the scale was the same as the week before.  AF showed up and I forgot to write down the date and time on my chart..by the time I remembered to it I couldn't remember the exact day. So my cycle chart is all screwed up.  No that means protection all this cycle..DP is going to be thrilled about that (insert sarcasm)

Last week I put on a pair of Jeans that I havent worn in almost two years.  They were GREAT!!! A little tight around the waiste..but I didn't have plummbers butt :)

I also ran a mile on the treadmill 13 minutes and 34 seconds to be exact.  Not to shabby and I didn't stop running until I had completed a full mile.  I bought new running shoes (from the local Big Box store...I am on a tight budget of not having any MONEY! ) and I also found I nice work out shirt (moisture wicking material) for $2 at the same place. LOL.

This week My goal is buy myself a special note book just for my Food Diary. I don't log my food on CC because it takes far too long (over an hour for one day of food).

DP is going to show me how to swim. I can swim as in keep my head above water and doggy paddle...but I cannot "SWIM". He's going to show me some strokes for competition swimming...in case I really do go for the triathalon.

~Cam you are more than welcome to Join us. I have considered P90X, just have something to work out with at home...but I cannot afford it right now.

Well I am going for the 5K.  I am going start working out on running while the weather is nice.  Funny how we were under a foot of snow this time last week and now its 80...

I did dust off my bike and DS and I have gone bike riding the last few afternoons..which IMO is nicer than going to the Gym. LOL

Luthein,  Welcome back.  I decided to keep this group open for everyone that joined, so people can come back.  I know what its like to get side tacked on my goals and when I am ready get back there's no support.

Sorry I am checking in so late.  We had more snow in North Carolina earlier this week, and I DO NOT drive when there's snow on the road.  My gage for when its okay to drive is when the snow has melted from my mini van. lol. I have had only one work out this week.  Of late I am thinking of trying out a 5K race. I trained for one last summer and was unable to participate because I busted my toe while packing boxes.  I am thinking of trying one in April.

Drum Roll Please

The scale at the Gym

178 on the nose.

This is kind of bitter sweet, since  It was a different scale. The digital scale was gone. I am sure its pretty accurate it wieghs my DS the same as the one at the doctors office.

I am trying to figure out how I can lose weight that fast...I mean nearly 10lbs in about two weeks.  That doesn't seem right.  But I remember using this scale before and being much heavier.  I think I am in weight loss denial. LOL.

This weeks Goals

-Try a New Strength Training Routine, Run a mile on the tread mill.

-Eat my Greens, and Eat my fruit.  I have had cravings for processed stuff lately

-Lose at least a .5 lb.

Question of the Weekend!

Whats your Favorite peice of  Cardio Equipment at the Gym and Why??

I Love the Elliptical. I really like the one at my gym because it can target just legs or arms...something other ellipticals say they can do!  I also burn calories on the Elliptical, than the Treadmill...but I have yet to get on a stair climber which is where I hear the real burn happens.

Cassie Contgrats on the weight loss!!!

Last night I went to the Gym to do my strength training workout. For now the Spin class is where some of the free weights are, and I like to work out in that area because its seperate from the rest of the gym.  I asked the lady at the desk if there was a Spinning class, and Next thing I know the entire training staff is telling me the wonders of Spinning.  I HAVE never taken an exercise class of any kind because I am afriad it would be beyond my fitness level.  I found myself on a Spin Bike for about an hour and 20 minutes.  :)  I did the whole work out. It was tough but I did it.  I also burned about 400 calories.  The people in the class were fun to be around, everyone was talking and making jokes.  It was like I had my own little cheer squad.

SO tonight I am doing my strength Training workout.  I'll try to make it back to the spinning class next Tuesday.

Now if I could get the scale to move. According to the scale I maintained. I would rather maintain than gain that's for sure.

BTW, Over the weekend I am going to email all of the members of the group.  It could be that "Life Happened".  I will also try and post a "Question of the Weekend" for everyone to share things that are working for them.

Good Morning everyone.  Today is Check in day.

I weighed last week and I had gained about 4 ouces.  Not that big of a deal as it was time for AF.

I went a way for the weekend, and ate out for nearly EVERY meal but 2, and I realized I had slacked up on chosing low calorie foods while I was out.   Next time I go on a long trip I am taking my Calorie King book with me so I get it right.

I also went nuts when i seen the ceasar salad on the Pizza Buffet, I put the Ceasar dressing on the salad without even thinking about te fact that most ceasar dressing have over 100 calories per table spoon. YIKES!!!

SO today I am going to work out, and I am going to work out Tomarrow as well.

I will check back in with my weight this afternoon, it will not suprise me ONE bit if I have gained all of my weight back.

Goals for this week,

Fitness, Do all of the Week Six workouts from CC

Food, Count my Calories and Watch the Fat Content

Wieght, Lose 1lb

I didn't do so hot last week. I didn't log my calories but kept a mental check of what I was eating.  (For example skipped eating butter and other High calorie foods ect)

I also didn't work out that much last week, I think maybe twice.

I am back at it today though.  I am glad to see that I did drop one pound though.

My goal this week:  Work out every day, Eat less fat, and get plenty of rest.

Good luck everyone,  I am so glad to see everyone sticking to it.  We'll reach our goals eventually.  I was looking back over the month of Jan, and realized that losing 3lbs in a month wasn't so bad, and that over a year I would reach my goal if I continued at the same rate.
