thanks guys - lala, this one is quite a drive so no out/day patient options given :o(

01273 - i've been in hospital 4 times before so know all the drill. thats why they are considering this one. just, i wondered if anyone else may have been reffered too. i'm nervous as im at the point where i either GET better, or get admitted. could call it crunch time i guess. i also maden loaaaads of close friends in my previous inpatient stays. but its my health for life that i need to decide over.

oh my goodness, it's been a week since i've posted! do you all remember me?lol

how IS everyone!!?? i havent managed to keep up so you will have to fill me in. Any AS/A level students? i got my AS results - B in biology (which was gr8 consdering i missed half the paper as i got the times mixed up!) and A in english language! not bad i guess!

i went to cornwall ^^ AND i had a lovely time! i saw my friends who havent changed in 10 years! and i just enjoyed being 'normal' with great people! the weather was a bit tempremental - but didnt get washed out like i thought i would. i exercised normally, rambled on coastal cliffs, walked into town to randomly buy clothes and to tesco to buy supplies! ;o) also - went out for 2 course meals at night - BIG dinners and - dun dun dun yummy desserts! the last night i was so hungry i had a bowl consisting of 4 1/2 huge scoops of ice cream! AAAND i had a bowl of cereal before bed after that!! i was so proud of myself.

i'm home now and feel a bit deflated. I've tackled loads of my ocd habbits though and have reduced my exercise by 1 3/4 hours! it's a start, but i'm feeling it now more than ever just how much i miss being normal and enjoying life.

angel: sorry ure meal didnt go great, still well done for sticking it out! you're doing great anyway - do you see any professionals at all?

argu - lol i'm SO glad someone else hates ensures! they are disgusting - they make me heave!! in hospital, i had the fruit juice style ones, called enlive (anyone else heard of these!?) which were much nicer, but very syrupy! FOOD is much nicer me thinks!

gibbit - like i keep telling you (sure ure sick of it by now) ure doing so well and are aiming for exactly what i want - to eat what i feel, not what i think i should or control the cals. I know we can ALL get there. I tell myself daily, i'm Suzy Roo (Embarassed), I was born Suzy and this thing snaked into my life. I WASNT born Suzy + anorexia, so why shoukd I live and die as Suzy and anorexia!!?? Keep listening to your body, it is a very special gift!

hi everyone, just checking in. today i bought myself some chocolate from the shop because i craved it - something i'd never have done before! (yes yes, you guessed maltesersEmbarassed)

about that guy who i told you about - he really did go the whole hog in recovery. when i say he ate apple pie - i mean he went to the store and bought a family sized one for himself to munch through the day! he is now the healthiest guy i know - toned muscles and a mahooosive appetite to match!

am feeling v.nervous lately, im still in a dilema about going away for 1st time in 5 years on sunday to cornwall. weather isnt going to be great and also the food we will eat wont be terribly healthy. thing is, i LOVE english fish and chips etc but feel a pig for admitting this on such a 'clean eating' board. i love eating healthy...but i used to love all the naughty food aswell....Embarassed

anyway, here's today before i forget:

Breakfast: porridge made with 150ml alpro light soya milk and hot choc powder, 45g bran flakes with 200ml alpro light soya milk, sultanas, mixed seeds, pear 

 

Snack: alpen bar, pear

 

Lunch: cod loin with lemon juice and herbs, wholegrain rice, cabbage/broccoli/carrots/mushrooms

2 non fat yoghurts, 2 crackerbreads with butter and chicken

 

Snack: 40g bran flakes, 200ml alpro light, raisins, mixed seeds, 2 easy peel Clementine’s = 210kcal

 

Dinner: WW pita bread stuffed with smokey quorn ham and salad, strawberries, yoghurt, snack a jacks salt and vinegar flavour

 

Snack: 2 crackerbreads with cream cheese

 

Snack: porridge made with 150ml alpro light soya milk and hot choc powder, yoghurt, 2 easy peel Clementine’s, options hot chocolate, small bag of malteasers

thats briliant angel! mega congrats on upping the cals!!! i keep delving into random things in the kitchen when i go by - who knows how many cals i actually eat in a day lol!

i dont see a nutritionist but guess i can increase anyway - i know i can do it.

argu - me too!!!! i ate loads when younger, was a wee bit porky but HAPPIER! I hit teens and thought if i was thinner id be happier. and then this all happened..6 years later - i know this is now NOT TRUE! I still have a major love of food though - i guess this is what scares me the most as i fear i will loose control again.

btw - i have a male friend who suffered with and ed for a long time for ages. one mornig her decided enough was enough. e began eating what he WANTED/FELT like eating, really listening to his body. he told me anything 'healthy and wholesome' is justifiable and that nothing is 'bad' for you. he reached 4000cals+ some days on hardly any exercise (he used to be a compulsive exerciser!!!) and would eat what he truely desired - whole store apple pies if his body craved it. he's now totallu recovered and, while he says life has it's ups and downs (like anyone's does) it was the best thing he's ever done his life and was worth it 110% - never looked back. just thought i'd share this as he says there isnt ANYTHING unpositive (is that a word lol) about recovering from anorexia

HI EVERYONE!

Woooah this thread has grown. have been keeping up but havent posted as remembered i have college work to attempt over summer :/ Anyhoo, i'm still poorly! i've had sickness for nearly a week now, damn bug! hope everyone's well

i've been intrigued about the metabolism threads that are popping up. i want to have a high cal intake but it's so scary to think about it. I used to eat like a horse when i was younger so why cant i now!!??

psycho/aqua/- you guys are so inspiring. how did you get up to 3000+? was it a leap or progress?? was it a dietician that told you to?

argu - 4re s6 brave for upping your intake - i want to join you!

meesh - you've done some really great posts! how long have you had ure ED? Do you do any exercise of sorts?

hi everyone

you all seem to be doing grand - so proud of you all nd your will powers! i've not been so great. had sickness/diharea for 2 days so been hungry, eaten,then felt v.v.sick :o( i weigh tomorrow -hope i havent lost...

also, today was a bad ocd day. made my family irritated enough that my bro and dad went out for dinner to escape me :.o( i seem to ruin everything..

was a struggle but yesterday:

Breakfast: porridge made with 150ml alpro light soya milk and hot choc powder, 45g bran flakes with 200ml alpro light soya milk, sultanas, mixed seeds, strawberries  = 420ish kcal

 

Snack: alpen bar, pear = 160kcal

 

Lunch: quorn chicken fillets with lemon juice and herbs, stir fry veg = 250ish kcal

chocolate porridge - 170cal

 

Snack: 40g bran flakes, 200ml alpro light, raisins, mixed seeds, 2 easy peel Clementine’s = 210kcal

 

Dinner: WW pita bread stuffed with soft cheese and salad, strawberries, yoghurt, popcorn - salt and vinegar flavour = 420ish kcal

 

Snack: 2 crackerbreads with cream cheese = 60kcal

 

Snack: porridge made with 150ml alpro light soya milk and hot choc powder, yoghurt, 2 easy peel Clementine’s, options hot chocolate, small bag of malteasers = 380kcal

thank you so much for responding pschoj - i read your profile and we sound so much alike! i'm mad about sports - always have been, but it has gone over the top since ive been ill. the thing is - i walk so much i dont know where/how to begin to cut back. i dont even SIT DOWN unless it's to eat :o( i am so frightened on the outcome of eating quite alot and letting myself relax. i'd love to weight train instead, but have never done it in my life so dont/wouldnt know where or how to go about it. Any suggestions?

aero - omg i live on carbs - they r the best! i prob eat waaay too many - my brekkie is porridge AND cereal cuz i couldnt choose between the 2! i also love bread/bagels/pitas...just carbs!!

argu - i'm sure you're NOT ugly. I say just go for it, im sure you will have a great time! btw - you are making me want ice cream!!

gibbit - i'm new but have been here watching a while. you are a real inspiration to me. its so good to read all your possitive eating posts. may i aski, what made you 'see the light'?

angeleyes: you ssem to be doing great lately! congrats on your meals - they sound v.nutritious! where r u from?states/uk??

lala - wise wise words and well done for holding back on the cardio. remember - we#ll all be here for you when you go bck to college! i LOVE yours/tuffstuffs cal advice - i want 2 maintain on 2000 minimum so i need to train my body to need that amjount. Any lower is no fun at all!

ok - brief history:

I’m a 5ft5.5” female weighing 84 pounds. I have suffered from an eating disorder for 5 years and im growing so very tired of it. I began with bulimia, then moved to anorexia and compulsive over exercising as a way of controlling my w8. I have been in and out of hospital for 3 years but have been flying solo these past 2 years after having a very traumatic experience with another patient trying to take her own life. Ive tried so hard to increase my weight in this period but have not been successful due to burning more than I was consuming. This is mainly due to developing OCD behaviours which incorporate with the over exercise.

I’ve tried leading a ‘normal’ life by going to college but have now reached breaking point. I walk around 6 hours each day and the people of my neighbourhood ect have started to notice – calling me ‘crazy’. It upsets me so much, I’m an A grade student who has been reduced to a walking maniac. It’s mainly due to the fact that I consistently eat throughout the day, as part of me is trying to gain weight despite the obsession. I eat around 2100 cals a day and then consume around 400 at night due to guilt of over exercise. However I feel so awful and wrong when I eat. My weight hasn’t shifted and the night snack only fuels the next day’s ocd exerciseL

it's so weird you mentioned ocd as i suffer with this+depression, coupled with the anorexia. who wouldnt be sad - i spend my whole day pretty much alone - i used to be popular!(ish) i hate the idea of hospital after all the probs ive had (have been 4 since 13yrs old) i gain weight fine, but come out and gradually loose control again. i need to want this.

and i do.after 5 long painful years. only i just dont know how to approach it. ive tried reducing by minutes. i tried reducing about 1 1/2 hrs, but it gradually snook back on. at xmas, i only walked my dog 90mins the whole day. it worked - was v.tuff but felt normal. however, college started up again + so did the walking back+forth - becoming compulsive due to ocd.

i just wondered what workd for others. please dont judge, i really do want to recover. i dream of being normal sized - not even really skinny like many do. i want lumps/bumps - everything! its so good to speak about it - your advice/input really helps

headingup - omg i LOVE white maltesers! they are my fave chocolate treats and i love white choc the most out of milk/dark etc so they are the ultimate combo! well done for treating yourself (and send me some lol!) Also - i personally HATE ensurre and can tell you build up id SO much nicer. BUT IT FALLS alot shorter cal wise so i sugges you have a lil snack too to endure you dont skip cals!

argu - good idea re averaging. the crackers/chicken thing is just a mini random snack i nibble on when peckish - its sliced chicken like you put in sarnis. exercise wasnt great today - did too much despite feeling rubbish. got a mahoosive headache now tooFrowni dont know whther just to go cold turkey and do hardly ANYTHING for a few days to get out of the stupid routine i've developed. thing is, i've no idea how many cals i need to eat to gain without it. 5ft5ich 84lbs - anyone help?

wistful - ofcourse we all care how you're doing! are you gaining well? keep up the good work!

feeling very sick today (not good when you need to eat!) i think it's cuz i caught alot of sun yesterday.

argu - try not to weigh so much, you'll get different weights and wind yourself up about which is accurate! i weigh every monday/thursday morning in underwear, in the morning after going to the loo. i'm sure your maintenance will increase - when i came out of hospital 'well' two' years ago, i was maintaining on 2750-3000!

lala - where in the uk are you? hows the ed services? how did you tame your over exercise?? thats my major prob Frown

ok, so today went like this:

Breakfast: porridge made with 150ml alpro light soya milk and vanilla hot choc powder, 45g bran flakes with 200ml alpro light soya milk, sultanas, mixed seeds, pear  = 420ish kcal

 

Snack: alpen bar, pear = 160kcal

 

Lunch: lemon and herb crusted cod loin, mash patooty, cabbage/broccoli/carrots/mushrooms = 250ish kcal

2 non fat yoghurts, 2 crackerbreads with butter and chicken = 150kcal

 

Snack: 40g bran flakes, 200ml alpro light, raisins, mixed seeds, 2 easy peel Clementine’s = 210kcal

ah wow lala - I LOVE THEME PARKS!!!! Have a gr8 timand be sure to ride nemesis inferno/collosus/rita/tidal wave!

re. food - there's mcdonalds + kfc from what i can remember (+had pre ED) BUT EVEN THEN THEY WERE CRAPPY. I'd take a packed lunch - i did last time+its cheaper/easier. it's v.easy to just nip back to he car park (they let you in and out easily) plus - the loos are near the exit too! sorted! try +remember to enjoy ure day - the donuts/sweets/ice creams werent too shabby!

hi angel eyes - i know exactly how you feel. i was quite chubby as a kid so pre ed i was encouraged to eat low fat/low cal stuff. now i need to gain weight - i just cant get out of that mind set and am terrified of going back to full fat etc. as ive said in another thread - i know i should but cant gt my head to do it!hmmm maybe we should ONLY buy full fat things so we get so hungry we have to eat it regardless ;o)

i have the occasional treats but never really set out to eat them as part of my plan - they just kind of slip in. hopefulyy, if i go away in a week or so, i will be eating non diet food all the time and it can help change my mindset.

do you have much to gain? what are your stats if you dont mind? do you exercise at all?

p.s -argu, what ice cream do you have out of interest?? ;oP

hi everybody,
so today i went to the docs for the 1st time in ages. thing is, she ran very late so i was sat in the surgery for alot longer than i intended. the thing is, i wasnt walking all this time and hey- i'm still alive! i usually cannot contemplate not exercising for a certain time in the morning. but today that didnt happen and i managed it. little steps like this give me hope - im sorry if it sounds pathetic!

anyway, she wants to refer me to an adult team outside my county. not sure what to think about this..hmm

today - minus some exercise!

Breakfast: porridge made with 150ml alpro light soya milk and vanilla hot choc powder, 45g bran flakes with 200ml alpro light soya milk, sultanas, mixed seeds, pear  = 420ish kcal

thanks everyone, you all really have made me smile. maybe i can do this. i still worry though - i'm a very 'clean'' eater and usually dont have chips/fried food. would 'indulging in them for 5 days have much of an effect/be ok?? i will try to pick as healthy/wholesome as possible but this wont generally be possible!

i can completely relate to the gross feeling around friends. i feel so abnormal eating constantly when with them all day. i know i need to but..the thing is, teens do actually eat tons - im assured by my friends that they pig out on crisps/pb on toast etc at home. doesnt stop us being self concious though does it!

i agree totally - i eat lots of low cal food but this makes me feel full, more guilty and compelled to exercise. i shoot myself in the foot really! sometimes i'd give anything for a round of cheddar cheese on toast!

yeah, unfortunately i usually walk an average of 6 hours a day. it really is killing me. i dont do anything else as im not strong enough really. It hurts as when i was fit i was SO active - played badminton/tennis/swam/played crikect/rounders/hockey. i love all sports. id love to swap some walking for weight training but dont know how to do it!! do you have a trainer? how long have you suffered with an ed?

 

hi charlie, i'm new but have followed these boards for a few months now. What part of the uk are you from? are your services for ed's good? mine are rubbish, we only have 1 adult clinic and it's run by temporary staff!!

tincognito - i do have p.b - straight from the jar though. i tend to taste things - little bites here and there. i try and compensate the exercise i do with the very late bagel snack, but when the morning comes, so do the guilty feeling. i also really enjoy it, so sometimes over exercise just so i can eat it...

headingup - we wre very much alike! i used to be 5ft6.5 but my mum measured 5ft5.5 the other day (but that could be wrong!!)i also used to exercise like crazy in the house when i was restricted activity and my 'rents were out. Now though, i just go out. Im 18 so officially 'an adult'. it's so tough - we know what we have to do, just the ed (i call mine Rex) distorts things so much, we go out of our way to do the opposite!!??? I'm 18 - had this since 13 and..to be honest, im still 13 stuck in an older body. I cant make adult decisions and just wish i could be a carefree kid again. it's so sad

aqua - thanks for the suggestions. my problem is being brave enough to switch to full fat ect. im weird - i prefer more food at lower cals. eg, 2 non fat yogz in place of one (making the same calories) I do actually eat peanut butter but from the jar! same with random ice cream from the tub!i'm terrible - i probably eat much more than i log lol! btw - do you see any1 like dieticians etc? are you from the uk 2?

argu - thanks aswell. my post in the forum explains my exercise problem. i know i need to greatly reduce my activity. do you do any exercise?

lala - I am a porridge..heck - carbohydrate addict! i could absolutely live on anything bread/pasta/cereal like! i love food doctor bagels (ever tried them?) also bran flakes/weetaflakes/clusters/alpen... i think i have a problem lol!

it's scary, i love/loved food so much. my family/friends cant believe i suffer from an ed. i want to feel ok about loving food again..

anyway, today went like this:

Breakfast: porridge made with 150ml alpro light soya milk and hazlenut hot choc powder, 45g bran flakes with 200ml alpro light soya milk, sultanas, mixed seeds, pear  = 420ish kcal

 

Snack: alpen bar, pear = 160kcal

 

Lunch: smoked trout fillet, new potatos, cabbage/broccoli/carrots/mushro oms = 250ish kcal

2 non fat yoghurts, 2 crackerbreads with butter and chicken = 150kcal

 

Snack: 40g bran flakes, 200ml alpro light, raisins, mixed seeds, 2 easy peel Clementine’s = 210kcal

 

Dinner: WW pita bread stuffed with quorn ham and salad, pear, yoghurt, snack a jacks salt and vinegar flavour = 420ish kcal

 

Snack: 2 crackerbreads with cream cheese+ marmite = 60kcal

 

Snack: porridge made with 150ml alpro light soya milk and vanilla hot choc powder, yoghurt, 2 easy peel Clementine’s, options hot chocolate, small bag of malteasers = 380kcal

i know how you feel. My parents constantly push the fact that 'if i was to eat what they eat - i'd be fine and normal'. Thing is, they consume a hell of a lot of saturated animal fats etc and arent in great shape physically. I was overweight as a kid and ate everything and anything in sight so i guess this switch around has scared them. I just want to adopt a healthy eating attitude afor life - with ofcourse the occasional treat! They dont see this, however, and are convinced fat is the way to go. I know it is jst concern though - thats why i must get better to show them healthy and wholesome is the way to go!!!

hi, ok im new and this is what ive been having, the night snack is a guilty one from doing too much exercise. my other post explains this better but..:

bless you, its funny cuz since the OCDness has got worse - i have become more lonely/secluded as it doesnt give time for friends. my life's a friggin schedule! its easier to reach out on an online community that can understand and relate to the whole eating/exercise issue, than my friends here who would probably be scared by it! unfortunately, there's only one adult eating disorder hospital in my area which is funded by the NHS (free basically) and, to be honest, it really was/is rubbish. This doesnt help things! here's my intake for a day - i'll post it in the weight gainers thingy aswell:

i thin k thats about right. I love eating clean - pleanty of fruit/veggies/wholegrains/protein. part of my problem is that i feel i must 'earn' my food physically
