| Hey Everyone, It's been awhile since I posted and it's good to see that we have more friends that joined our thread. I've been really busy with the kids and trying to plan 3 parties so I've kinda slacked on my logging and posting. I had a few (maybe 5) off days in a row a week and a half ago, it was so depressing I didn't think I was going to be able to get started again. I did manage to though and came back strong, I lost almost 6lbs when I got on the scale this morning so 19lbs gone 81 to go. My mood switches SO much through out the day, one minute I feel good about what I'm doing the next I feel overwhelmed with what I have left to do. I hate the rollarcoaster. I also hate that before I used to obsess about food because I wanted to eat everything and now I obsess about food because I have to count everything and plan so it's always on my mind. I wish I could go through one day without any thoughts of weight/food/diet/calories... It's like I went from having a food addition to having a diet/calorie-count addition. Does anyone else feel this way? I hope everyone is doing well and I wish everyone the best of luck for the week. I know we can all get there together, we just need to stick together. Ginny |

| Hi Angela! I think the more support we have the better so WELCOME!
SO I'm not having a very good day today and I'm not sure why. I went out last night with my sister and her friends and had a great time. I know I had over my calories with the food and alcohol but I don't think it was too bad so thats not whats bugging me. Today was bill paying day so maybe that has something to do with it :) Whatever it is all I want is to order a pizza tonight and I'm not sure if I can stop myself. I just have to stay strong! I hope everyone had a good week and good luck over the weekend! I know they are always the hardest for me since it takes me out of my routine. Ginny |

| Monique - I'm pretty worried about the extra skin thing also. I'm mostly worried about my stomach since it already looks deflated. Two kids didn't help. I've just come to realize that someday I'll probably have to have a tummy tuck. I'm hoping everywhere else will be ok since I'm doing it slowly and with exercise. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, it can be one of our future posts like in year or so :)
As for finishing your plate when your full, I think that as long as you're still within your calorie range I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. This is a learning process and we all can't be perfect from the start. I'm sure that's how you used to eat, I know I did, if there was food on my plate I was goin to eat it. I think eventually you'll train your brain to just get up and throw it in the garbage whether someone is there or not. Since I started this I thankfully haven't had any bouts of secret eating...I guess I would consider it as both of what you described. I would either eat all day, since my kids don't judge or I would eat after my husband went to bed. I always felt guilty about it. I guess if you feel like your secret eating maybe try to write in your journal at that time and pinpoint why you're doing it. Most likely your bored. Maybe the journaling will get your mind off of it and keep you focused. When I feel like eating at night and I know I shouldn't I try to make myself go to bed...even if it's early I'll just go in there and read/do crosswords/or play my DS. I know I won't get out of bed to eat so that helps me. Ok well tonight is going to be tough for me. Tonight is game night with my sister and her friends and I'm going. They all bring snacks and drinks so there is going to be a lot of temptation. I just keep telling myself I have to learn how to eat in the real world, I do so good when I don't leave my house. There is a real chance that I could ruin the week by going but I NEED to get out of my house. It's been like two months since I've had any time away from my kids...they are attached to me constantly. So anyway I need everyone's willpower tonight. I hope everyone is having a great day! Stay Focused! Ginny |

| Hey girls! Thanks for being so welcoming!
**Warning: This post tends to ramble - it's the lack of adult interaction. "Sorry" ahead of time :) ** So it's 1:15am and I can't sleep. I think I have unrealistic goals and that's half my battle. I know we are told to lose about 2 pounds per week but in my mind I always think it should be more than that. Then I get on the scale and just hope that it will be 6 pounds or so and of course it's not and then I'm depressed. I know it's stupid but I'm impatient and just want to see/feel results "NOW". I wish that for every day you worked out and ate healthy you earned a 1 pound loss :) I think that seems fair. Ok that is my little early morning/late night rate, I feel a little better. I was just wondering what all of you are staying at calorie wise right now? I'm eating about 1200-1400 but it's usually closer to 1200. I don't think I'm eating enough so I'm just curious about all of you. Oh and Ducky I'm so jealous of your Wii...I want one so bad but it's hard for me to convince myself it's ok to spend the money. You'll have to keep me posted on how well it's working out for you and your progress. Maybe that will convince me :) You sound like you have some great new exercise goals! Good Luck!! I do have a Nintendo DS though (according to my husband I'm a nerd because I like video games) and they have a new game that came out last week called "My Weight Loss Couch". I thought it looked interesting so I bought it. Not worth it....I made my husband use his charm and take it back for me today (since you can't return opened video games). This site does way more than that does so I basically spent $40 on a pedometer. This was just a FYI in case you happen to see it and think you want it :) How often do you guys weigh yourself? Last time I did this a weighed myself all the time almost every day. This time I'm doing it once a week - every Monday...I don't know which way I like better yet. I kinda like the anticipation of weekly but on the other hand if you do it more often you can maybe make adjustments before the week is gone...like bumping up calories (any thoughts?). Well, I should try to get to bed. Hopefully my kids will sleep in tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great day today and stays focused!! Good Luck!!! Ginny or Grissy - whichever :) |

| Hi, I would like to join the group if it's ok. I'm 31, 5'4 and currently at 240 lbs, I started 3 weeks ago at 253 so 13 lbs gone whoo hoo! I'm not sure what my gone weight is, I just want to feel good in my body.
This is actually my second time using this site. The first time I lost about 80 lbs but got pregnant before I could get to my goal. I ended up gaining it all back. My son is almost a year so it's taken me that long to deal with the fact that I have to start over. I would love to have people to talk to that know what I'm going through. I tend to rant to my mom or husband but neither of them know what it's like to be SO overweight. The first time I did this I didn't really participate in the forums but it would definately be nice this time to know that I'm not the only one struggling day to day. I also hate exercising but sometimes it's an escape for me. I'm a stay at home mom who doens't get out much (probably because of my weight) so I go in the basement and that's "MY" time. I have an elliptical and love it, I feel like I get cardio and toning in at the same time. I just put in my headphones, close my eyes and just try to focus on the music it tends to take some of the hatred out of exercising. Anyway that's a little about me. I would love to get to know all or you and hopefully we can form a little support group for each other. |

| Hi! I feel like we are on the same page. I'm a little older..i'm 31 5'4 and as of last monday I was 242 (tomorrow's weigh day so hopefully less). I too have been overweight all my life and have struggled with all aspects of it. I lost 80 pounds a couple of years ago using this site but gained it all back during my pregnancy and the stress after, so here I am again. I'm almost done with week 3 and feel sooo much better that I'm on the right track again.
My current goal is also 160 but we'll see...I was pretty comfortable when I got down to 180, I just want to be there again. I would love to have some support too....my husband and mom try but they don't really know what I'm going through or what it's been like living in this body. |

| I ususally try to stay around 1200-1300 a day but on Sundays I'm usually higher because we have dinner with my husbands family and it's really hard to be good. I try not to worry about my percentages too much and just eat foods that I know are healthy. I love fruit so if my carbs are too high I know it's from that and don't worry about it.
and yes you can enter me as a friend...you'd be my first, I'm kinda quiet on here but I read daily |

| Hi Writestuff, I've been on my weightloss journey for a little over a year now. I started at 260 and I'm now at about 186 so I have about a 74lb weight loss. I still want to loose about 46 more though. The journey has been the toughest thing I have ever done but also the best thing I could do for myself. There have been days when I've felt so great about myself and days when I can't even look at myself in the mirror because I feel terrible. I've had 3mouth plateau and I've even "quit" a couple of times. You just got to believe in yourself and know that THIS works and that there will be an end "someday". I have no where been close to the perfect calorie counter or exerciser but I just never give up, I know I could have lost more in this time if I was more strict but this is my life and I have to live it, so if there is a birthday party or wedding ...I eat and don't feel guilty about it. I just get back on the next day and forget it happened. I feel great about my weight loss and I love being able to find clothes that I actually like and think look decent on me but I still get frustrated about every week and just want it to be over. I still get angry that I let myself get that overweight and I still hate that I can't eat like "others" but I know this is what I have to continue you to do to be healthy and live the life that I want.
So congratulations on your loss so far, you've made a huge step. I can't tell you it gets easy but maybe a little easier, but just remember that it will all be worth it and believe it! |

| Weight Loss | What would happen ... | Jun 30 2006 19:55 (UTC) |

| I've been on my lifestyle change for about a year now. So far I've lost about 75 pounds(about 45 to go) and I do it all the time. You just have to have the strength to get back on the next day and continue, that's where people have the problem. I refuse to track everything I eat everyday, if I have a birthday party or wedding or just want to have pizza - I eat and don't worry about it. I just get back on the next day (I have slipped a few times on that though). Yes I probably could have lost more than 75 pounds this year but who wants to live thier life never being able to eat your favorite meals or have that piece of cake?? If I'm in this for the rest of my life I have to stay sane doing it :)
I know this doesn't work for everyone but good luck and if you decide to have a "normal" meal just know that that isn't the end. |

| I almost daily have a slim fast low carb shake for breakfast. I've never been a breakfast eater so it helps me get it in. I drink the low carb ones because they have the highest amount of protien. I also eat the meal replacement bars every once in awhile or the south beach meal replacement ones too - they are even better. | |||

| I don't feel like I am a hermit anymore. I still don't leave the house a lot but it's not because I feel like everyone is staring at me. I hated going to the mall, grocery stores, resturants....I always thought everyone one was thinking "oh look at the fat chick", I still have some body issues but I'm sure it will improve with the continued weight loss. | |||

| I actually met my husband through the internet - he saw a web page I had made and we both liked a similar band so he e-mailed me. We met and became good friends. He dj'ed a party for me and I had a little to drink and it slipped that I like him more than just friends so we started dating and were engaged 3 months later. That was 5 years ago. It's always funny when you say you met your husband on the internet :) | |||

| My real name is Ginny - like Gin(the alcohol) and knee - It's not short for anything just Ginny. But it's always confused people, like they want to pronounce like Guinea as in guinea Pig (Which never makes you feel good when your fat) or they just say Jenny which has always bothered me. I have a phone job (not a telemarketer) and people always think I say Janeen - I just roll with it. | |||

| Hey everyone..wow thank you all so much!! It's been a slow steady process but I just keep at it. I eat 1200-1300 calories a day (I ususally take sundays "off") and I exercise 5+ days a week (Before the first of the year though it was a lot less). I just never lose site of how bad I want this - there are just sooo many reasons why. I don't get discouraged if I have bad eating days, I just keep going. You guys all help me each and every day, I read your posts to learn and be encouraged. You are all AWESOME!!!
I know all of us can do this!!! I have struggled for so long with this and finally feel like I have a grip on it. Good luck to all of you!!! Stay strong and keep going!!! |
