Hello Jen. I have a personal trainer myself (just started using him the last few weeks) and this is my schedule. Monday - Kickboxing Class - really high intensity for an hour Tuesday - Work w/trainer for 1 hour of full body lifting (includes both my upper and lower body). Take an hour class of high intensity cardio. Wednesday - Sometimes I take off - Sometimes I take a boxing class Thursday - Sometimes I see him (if I'm not too sore) during the day and then take his Power Cardio class at night. Friday - Will do 1/2 hour on rowing machine and/or spend 1 hr w/ trainer. Saturday - Take a Body Conditioning Class - Abs Class - Boxing Class all within 2 1/2 hours. Anyway, this is the schedule we try to stick to but my trainer tells me there is nothing wrong with doing both in one day as long as you are not in pain and are physically fit enough. I have a flexible schedule so I can see him during the day to do strength training for an hour and then take a cardio class at night which is an hour. Also, if you are utilizing a personal trainer, I'd utilize him for the whole hour. This may seem like too much working out but when you break it up I find it's actually better. I feel like my body has a few hours to heal, I get to eat, then I go back. Just a suggestion, if you have the time, I'd try to do strength training for an hour instead of splitting it up with the cardio. Still do the cardio if you can but definitely try to stick with the weights for an hour. I can honestly tell you that since I've been working with him the strength training has really shaped my body. Also, since we do a full body workout I only have to do it twice a week - for now!! You know all this fitness, eating, etc. can be really frustrating because you want to get the most out of your body and your food and your workouts. All that is actually kind of hard to figure out, which is why I'm using a trainer. He has me on a schedule, helps me with what foods to eat and definitely challenges me and I'm still frustrated because I want the results now. I see results, but they are never enough. I think alot of people feel like that. I know trainers are expensive but I think they are worth getting a few times per week until you get your body on a regimented schedule where it just burns fat and builds muscle. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Hello! I also have hypothyroidism - well mine was completely removed and I take synthroid daily - so your post attracted me. I have about 35 lbs to lose but I want mine gone by September. May be impossible but I'm trying my best. I did not exercise a whole lot until about a month ago. Now I'm exercising 1hr - 1 1/2 daily and sorry to admit I am only eating about 800 calories a day. I know everyone says that's not good but I'm just not that hungry. I have my thyroid checked every few months and it seems normal but I am wondering if it still has an effect on my weight loss. I've lost about 20 lbs since April. I'm medium build and weigh about 10lbs more than you but would be happy to chat w/you. |

Asparagus is pretty much my main vegetable and I usually steam it for a few minutes with some fresh garlic then toss it with fresh lemon juice and it's perfect! |

In re: 500-800 cals - That's the thing though, I'm not starving. I'm eating - but eating very lean protein, veggies and good carbs. I'm watching what I eat and doing it in perhaps extreme moderation but nevertheless I do eat several times a day. I started eating (not this low) but more healthy around April 1, 2008 and have lost 6 lbs since then. Also, according to CC I should eat 1200 calories per day so 700 would be a 500 calorie deficit, correct? |

I'm 29, weigh 191lbs and am looking to lose at least 50-60 lbs in the next six months. I would love to have a "buddy" to help w/motivation, etc. I am eating 500-800 calories per day and am lifting weights 3x per week and running/walking 3x per week. Some days I lose a lb and then the next morning gain it back. Not quite sure why but I'm getting frustrated. I suspect it's because the weight is not coming off as quickly as I'd like. |
