The thing I hate about this argument is that every time it pops up again it's the people who have ordinary skin (few pimples, discoloration, irritation) that preach about how being natural is best.

gatorade is helpful. i was vomitting for most of the night (had a bug) and my doc said today to drink gatorade to rebalance my electrolytes. you should eat a banana to get your potassium up too.

I wouldn't get my cat tested in the first place. I could never trade his life for mine, even though he's 'just an animal' and won't live for years and years. I love my cat like he's a person, a family member. I love him more than I love my aunts, uncles or cousins. Just thinking about this is making me upset.

Health & Support QUESTIONS: How do you sleep? Please help me with my journal. Jan 29 2009
05:40 (UTC)

1. I go to bed anywhere between 9:30-11:00 pm and wake up at 7:00-8:00 am. I eat a snack (likely yogurt), brush my teeth, wash my face, apply moisturizer and watch television or read a book until I feel tired enough. I sleep best on nights that I've consumed pasta for dinner... I rarely wake up during the night. If I do it's because I need to use the toilet or I'm hungry/thirsty. If I'm hungry, I drink a glass of milk and consume a slice of vegemite toast, which satisfies me every time.

2. If I can't fall asleep, I'll lie in bed for a bit and ask myself why and address the issue. Am I thirsty? Hungry? Anxious? Needing to use the toilet? If all else fails I'll continue to read, browse the internet or watch a DVD. I won't even attempt to count sheep; that simply makes me agitated at the repetitiveness.

I take the longest route because the man doesn't appear as threatening as the others. The first one looks scary bulky and could kill/rape me easily, the second guy's photo looks like a mug shot and the third guy simply doesn't look friendly. I know the fourth guy could very well turn out to be a pyschopath but it's less likely.

It's sickening how much money was spent on this massive party. I believe it was the in the region of 170 million, yet no one will complain because Obama is touted a saviour. He's only half-black, anyway. This mania is insanity.

The Lounge Twilight Dec 29 2008

Twilight is essentially a 'damsel in distress' tale. Bella is helpless, foolish and average, which is heightened when compared to the super-abilities and intelligence of Edward. Whenever Bella makes a decision for herself, she ends up putting herself in danger (being deceived by evil vampires, intentionally risking her life) or sending mixed messages to Jacob. Edward should make all the decisions for her, because she's so inept.

I adore Twilight, but that's my take on it.

Touche.

I didn't like Bella's character after the first book, especially not her relationship with Jacob. I wish Stephenie Meyer hadn't grown so fond of him, even more so than of Edward. It could have been better if Edward killed Jacob in a rage.. the imprinting plot was a tad sick..

Plus I think the whole mormon lady writing a teen love story with heavy abstinence undertones is just annoying.

The abstinence thing is merely a way to create sexual tension. Part of what makes Edward perfect is his gentlemanliness. If he were a rampant sexual predator then I'd agree with people finding his behaviour "stalkerish" and "creepy".

Ummm...I hate to break this to you, but Edward's character is a creepy, stalker guy. He climbs through Bella's bedroom window to watch her sleep (without her knowing it)...he locks her in his house to keep her from Jacob, he disables her car.... What is in that does not scream stalker?

I'll grant you the first act may be slightly off, but the other things were all to protect her. If you thought the love of your life was going to be in danger, likely to be killed by some mongrel dog, would you not attempt to prevent it?

Does anyone notice he's been a high school senior for the past 10 years or whatever? Do they just think he's a bit..."special"? Why doesn't the head vampire guy who was posing as the father just claim he's being homeschooled and spare him sitting through the same biology class forever?

The family keeps relocating when they repeat high school and, as Edward said in the movie, the younger he starts out in an area, the longer they can stay there. Seeing as Edward doesn't sleep, it would be even more boring for him to spend more hours at home. Also, the family would appear even more "strange" if they were homeschooled.

It's an Australian show and was very popular here when it aired last year. Americans might not get the humor, like what happened with Kath and Kim.

EDIT: The series only lasts one season. It was planned that way.

I both adore Twilight and abhor it. The prose is hypnotic and you can't stop reading once you start. Edward Cullen is the exemplary man and the love story is fanciful. This is what I enjoy about it. Conversely, reading the book saddens me that no man is as perfect as Edward, and the mania surrounding Twilight is bothersome. I understand the obsession- the books are good, Robert Pattinson is gorgeous- but I hate being one of a zillion fan girls. It takes away from the enjoyment realizing that there are other girls with the same fantasy, especially when a big part of the appeal comes from relating to Bella and feeling as if you could be that unique girl the smouldering vampire selects. Merely thinking about the Twilight mania gives me a headache- yet at the same time I'll be one of those girls buying the merchandise and lusting after Robert (he's not the Edward my imagination conjured; he's a better version).

Health & Support Antidepressants? Dec 10 2008

I take antidepressants, paxil specifically, partly for my depression and partly for my anxiety/eating disorder issues. I too was fearful about antidepressants, because I read many accounts of them causing weight gain.  But they have not made me gain a thing. The only weight I have gained was due to my recovery and controlled intake. I've realised that people who gain weight on antidepressants mostly do so due to comfort eating and overeating.

Right now I feel calm and happy, however that only lasts so long as I'm taking paxil. In the past two instances I've gone off paxil I experienced severe depression. Withdrawal symptoms are also hellish. Now I'm resigned and perfectly content to taking paxil for the rest of my life.

I think you should switch to another medication such as paxil. That's why I take. And if you're not feeling very happy whilst you're on zoloft, imagine what it would be like without it. I'm just one of those people who believes some people are only able to cope with the help of chemicals. Counselling can only help to an extent.

Health & Support Anyone have any experience with Accutane? Nov 18 2008

I'm 16. I was on accutane for 6 months. The only side effects I really got were dry skin and lips, perhaps some mild sensitivity to the sun. My cholesterol actually decreased when I was on accutane because I was so focused on healthy eating.

In regards to my skin, within 2 months it was cleared up and perfect. Beforehand I had painful cysts. It's been a year since I was on accutane and I only get the occasional pimple. The major problem now is scarring.

Accutane is really great. I didn't fret about the side effects when I was on it and I'd go on it again, should the need occur.

People can still eat an overall healthy diet if they have a muffin here and there. But if the muffin is low-fat, you probably won't notice a different in taste, and it's fewer calories for the treat.

I understand the point you are trying to make; that eating healthy food is better than being thin and eating junk but most people on this forum wouldn't try to survive off only 1000 calories of chocolate every day.

Low-fat alternatives are a great idea. People don't have to be extreme all the time. Sometimes small changes make a difference.

I'd like to know what kind of food you eat and whether you've got a perfect body.
