Hey everyone, hope everyone is still well and keeping motivated. Well I've got through my first week of unemployment, unfortunately the interview fell through as the company offered the position to a family friend apparently. So much for equal opportunities eh..... I seem to have managed to get myself into a routine though and continued my healthy eating and gym workouts. Also trying to benefit from not sitting behind a desk for 8 hours a day and take my dogs for walks, do house work etc. My knee is still giving me problems but is a bit better than before so I'm managing. I've not been weighing at all at the minute, seeing the same numbers can get very demotivating but I'm working out hard so I know it should be doing some good! Stress still seems determined to follow me around though.....had a letter from my housing association who I rent my house from saying they're going to come and do a routine inspection. Had a glance through my tenancy agreement which I haven't looked at for 4 years and it says I need written permission to erect a shed and suchlike in my garden. Which I didn't think about before I had my 17ft ferret enclosure built to house my 36 ferrets they also don't exactly know about (they know about my dogs and are fine about that). So now I'm panicking about the possibility of them objecting to my ferrets/ferret run. The association does have a policy of so long as you don't cause a nuisence or any damage they're happy to leave you alone so I'm hoping they'll be lenient. The house and garden in general look a hell of a lot better than when I first moved in and its not like I'm drug dealing or anything. Annoying part is the visit will be suprise and unnanounced (to catch out any rule breakers) so I'll be stressing out til they eventually turn up :( nandmconover1234: sorry to hear about your little ferret.....they're such little cancer magnets are ferrets :( I've been lucky and *touch wood* not had any adrenal cases so far....its less common in the uk, which is thought to be linked to leaving neutering until the ferret is more mature. You gotta love ferrets though.....such addictive little creatures :) Right, dinner time I think and then spend the rest of my lazy sunday relaxing. Next week I won't have much time to relax....need to keep my house looking like the most immaculate house the housing association has ever seen when they spring their suprise visit. Good calorie burner I suppose..... |

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I'm feeling a bit better today, I've had a good cry about losing Kizzy over the weekend, had a good talk with my mum about my imminent unemployment and she's going to help me out as much as possible financially. I might actually have a job interview next week so I'm keeping fingers crossed for that. I'm still working out as much as possible bearing in mind my sprained wrist and knackered knees and ankles! Trying to find a balance between trying to not aggravate my injuries and let them heal but not totally neglecting my workouts and losing all the progress I've made so far. I am looking forward to the extra work out time if I do end up jobless though :) pbear....great to see you back! Hope everything is well with you. We need to see some more of the originals too.....where have you all gone?? |

Nothing positive to report this week I'm afraid, no major change on the scale, knackered my knee up at the gym, made redundant yesterday and have to have one of my pet ferrets pts today Not feeling too great right now. I absolutely must not end up down the slippery slope of depression again and gain weight back....I just won't let it happen. |

No official weigh in again this week as the scale is still fluctuating between 151.8 and 152.8 but I'm working out really hard and eating well and feeling good for it. I actually feel like I did at 148/149 before I went on holiday so I'm trying to pretty much ignore what the scale is saying right now. I would like to see the numbers moving down but I definately prefer feeling like I'm getting thinner despite the stagnant scale :) |

I haven't weighed in this week, no point....the scale ain't moving! BUT....I had 3 people last week comment that I'd lost weight, so even if its not showing on the scale I must be doing something right! I've been working out fairly hard and I can really feel it. Going to pretty much ignore the scale for now and focus on doing what I'm doing. Hopefully the scale will catch up eventually but as long as I feel the way I do now I think I'm on the right track. Actually, I was on the cross trainer last night and my work out pants felt as if they were starting to slip down..... This group seems a bit thin on the ground lately......where are you all? Come back!! |

Chest exercises will most definately help. I had very large breasts and have lost a fair bit of weight. I do alot of strength training as part of my weight loss and as my boobs are getting smaller (although still a D/DD) they are gradually getting perkier aswell. They're not exactly 'Zoo' front cover material but there's a definate improvement. Things take time, skin doesn't shrink overnight, but I can almost guarantee that doing the strength training as I have been doing is what has made such a massive difference. It really does work! As for the bf......yeah he's clearly insecure and thinks putting you down will make him feel better. Probably thinks if you gain confidence you'll up and leave and find someone better. My ex was the same, made me feel like nobody else would ever want me and I was lucky to have him. NOT! Talk to him and tell him how his comments made you feel. If his attitude doesn't change then kick the b*stard out......you deserve better! |

To be fair I think the only person who did call it a disease was the OP herself. She was the one who reacted to the mention of the word with such disgust and was so cleary offended. The other posters, including myself, who replied to her were just astounded that she reacted the way she did......hence my post that I found her reaction very insulting to people who actually do have tourettes syndrome. There was a guy on Big Brother (uk) a few years ago who had tourettes and he was very, very popular :D |

I find the constant references to the 'under educated' people on the forum quite amusing.....considering the amount of spelling and grammar errors in the OP's posts :D |

I can't help thinking that an actual Tourettes sufferer would probably be quite insulted by the OP's major over reaction to that comment....... |

I actually had a question about eggs myself..... I pack my breakfast and dinner foods to take to work the night before as I don't have time in a morning to prepare or eat breakfast. At the moment, breakfast is an Alpen Light bar (79 cals) which is obviously processed, sugary and leaves me gagging for my mid morning banana. I was wondering if I could make up a portion of scrambled egg with mushroom or something the night before and tub it up. Would it be ok to reheat the next morning for my breakfast? *Can I also point out that I only ever buy Free Range Eggs* |

| Morning everyone, hope you're all well.
Right, well I didn't weigh at all last week. Fed up of the crazy fluctuations, plus I hadn't been to the gym all the week before due to my car breaking down, plus I had a bit of a bad weekend what with having a house party and ordering pizza etc so I guessed the scale was not going to be kind anyway. *Note* How many calories do you reckon are burnt singing on Singstar at a volume that causes your neighbours to come round and ask you to tone it down a little :-p This week my car is back on the road, gym schedule and diet on track and I was actually a little under calories at the weekend cos I was so busy. Last Weigh in (2nd Sept): 154.8 This Week: 151.4 Not quite back down to my pre holiday weight of 149.0 but heading in the right direction. We'll see next week if the fluctuations are under control. I'm hoping that I may have had a small muscle gain from the past few weeks strength training after having 6 weeks off....not sure if a six week break would cause 'newbie gains' when you start training again but its a nice thought anyway! Saturday is going to be annoying as its my cousins wedding and I believe there is going to be a buffet and a meal so I need to try and keep that in check. Bring on the 140's! (again) Good luck everyone :) |

I have just lent my book to the instructor at my gym aswell (although mine is male). I haven't actually started the workouts yet but I'm going to get him to run me through Stage 1 when he has finished and that way he'll know exactly what I'm doing and can help me get my form right initially :) He also seemed impressed with the first 15 or so pages he read initially so hopefully when he does womens programmes in the future he'll be able to put some of to good use (I rarely see amy women there doing a proper weight routine) |

| Weight Loss | Weighed myself, 2.5 weeks and 2lb......WTF???? | Sep 04 2009 12:54 (UTC) |

Do a google image search for 1lb of fat :) 2lbs in 2 weeks isn't so bad....when I'm losing well I lose around 1 - 1 and a half lbs a week. Also I am one of those who prefers to weigh daily, with fluctuations to consider if I only weighed once a week or once a fortnight and I happened to land on a bad fluctuation day then that would be disheartening for me. A loss is a loss! Give yourself a pat on the back, your heading in the right direction! |

| Weight Loss | Anyone hear Science Friday last week? Raw foods vs. Cooked | Sep 04 2009 08:20 (UTC) |

I eat all my veggies raw. Not because of some crazy fad though, I've eaten them raw since I was very small when my mum could only get me to eat raw veg.....wouldn't touch them cooked. I don't know why but I can't stand them even lightly steamed. If they're not totally raw then I won't touch them. I am pretty strange when it comes to food though.... |

I agree...if I've had a big meal one day I always feel extra hungry the next day. I know its going to happen so I just ignore it and eat within my calories as planned. The next day I'm back to normal :) |

Thanks v_avila! I cringe every time I see that first pic lol Well its that time again.... Last Week: 151.8 This Week: 154.8 *cries* My scales have been up and down and all over the place all week so I don't really know where I'm truthfully at. I did have a chinese takeaway on Saturday for my friends birthday and also my car has broken down and I can't get to the gym and its chucking it down outside so I'm trying to keep active with housework etc. My diet apart from the chinese has been good. Just keep plugging on I suppose. If only there was a scale which only accurately weighed fat loss/gain instead of having to second guess every fluctuation! |

My scales are being very unkind this week :( Upped some of my weights at the gym on wednesday and my thursday morning weigh in was up to 153.0.....went swimming last night, only did about 10-12 lengths cos I was busy nattering to my friend mark and this morning was 153.2. Hate fluctuations! Even though I know its not a fat gain (or atleast it shouldn't bloody well be) its still so frustrating seeing the number going the wrong way! My shoulders are a bit sore this morning though. I still like to weigh in daily though even though the fluctuations are annoying, I find it keeps me on track more knowing whatever I do will be reflected the next day, and I find I get to know how my body does react more. I'm a bit nervous that when I start my new Rules workout I might not see any progress on the scale....hopefully I'll see some good enough changes in my body to keep up my motivation if that does happen! Thanks for the lovely comments about my before/after pic....just to confirm I'm the middle one in the second pic lol Keep up the good work guys!
Where are all the group originals hiding again? Haven't seen pbear posting for ages! |

Oops...nearly forgot to post! Last Week: 151.8 This Week: 151.8 Annoying....but I'm feeling the workouts this week and I think its showing up on the scale. I've actually been running on a slight gain for most of the week (152.4) so atleast this morning its gone back down and I can post a maintenance weight instead of a gain lol I really can't wait to be back in the 140's.....I was 149 before I took my 6 week holiday break. I feel better in my body though now...when I first came back from holiday I could feel the slight gain....felt bloated and a bit flabbier/wobblier than usual but since getting back on track again I feel better in myself (even if the scales don't agree!) Also the other day a friend sent me some photos of me from a couple of years ago....and wow I couldn't believe how big I looked! Made me realise that what I'm doing is working! |

Thanks guys, I was just so shocked when I saw that first pic.....couldn't believe that I used to actually leave the house looking like that. The shame! I still have a long way to go....hopefully one day I'll look back at the second pic (taken July this year) and think 'Wow....I used to be that fat?!' lol |

Hello everyone, hope everyone is well. Ok its weigh in day so here goes... Last week: 153.8 This Week: 151.8 Happy with that :) If only I could maintain a 2lb loss every week but I know its not likely. I'm glad to see a loss though as I've started my gym workouts again and have some muscle soreness.....luckily the scale isn't showing any water retention. Its always nice to see a positive result when you start back into your routine just to get the motivation flowing again :) Still reading my New Rules book so should be starting that in the near future. Not sure if I'm going to follow the diet plan though.....looking through the recipes there's not alot I like, plus I can't cook anything other than grilled fish lol. I'll probably just do the workouts and see how I go. Good luck everyone! |

| littlem74 if you've been working out harder than usual your muscles may be retaining water, specially if they're sore. Like you say, 0.5lb is still a loss! Sometimes the weight doesn't come off in nice, neat bundles....you might lose nothing one week then 2 - 3lb another. It is frustrating though!
Definately check your calorie allowance though, when I was undereating my weight loss stalled but as soon as I upped my calories I was off again! |

| Ok so first weigh in for 6 weeks....what with holiday preparations, holiday, and holiday aftermath! I'm treating this as starting over again so...
This Week: 153.8 Bit of a gain from before my holiday but I'm actually quite relieved. I was imagining all kinds of horror stories when I first stepped on the scales, but actually haven't gained anywhere near what I was expecting! I've been swimming as normal but this week I want to get back to the gym aswell so I'm kind of prepared that anything could happen scale wise while my body readjusts back into my regime. I also bought NRWLFW before I went on hols so I'm looking forward to starting that once I've finished reading it :) Good luck everyone :) |

Hey everyone, I'm back from my holiday...well strictly speaking I've been back a week, just been trying to get back on top of things. I had an EXCELLENT time on holiday! It was so good, was out every night parting to the early hours of the morning (don't wanna think of the alcohol calories consumed!) and days spent by the pool, beach or on trips. Met some awesome people. And I wasn't the fattest person round the pool!! Believe it or not I was amongst the slimmest lol. Good times :) Ok so now holiday is over (sob) I'm trying to get back into the weight loss groove. I haven't dared get on the scales since I returned home. I am under no illusions that the scales won't show a gain so my plan is to weigh in on wednesday as my new starting weight....therefore no gain, maintain or loss (ha...I can dream!) Hopefully by this time next year I might be somewhere near my goal weight! |

Thanks Jodiferjuniper, I know I'm in alot better shape than last year but I'm just so frustrated wanting to get to where I want to be like NOW! I think its harder cos I used to be skinny so I know what it feels like and how much better I felt which makes me feel all the worse. Well my bikini shopping is done and I'm already packed (with 9 days left to go - not at all impatient!) I'm still not happy with the amount of flab on show but can you imagine the tan lines if I wore my bathing suit instead lol. The poor thing is on its last legs anyway.
Where have all the regulars gone? This group has been getting quieter by the week!
Oh, and welcome Mikka_jd....its a bit quiet in here at the min but its usually a great group and the support is fantastic. We usually weigh in on Wednesdays but I'm on scale strike til after my hols and there's a fair few MIA at the min |

I think I'm going to go on Scale Strike for a few weeks...I go on holiday in two weeks (yay) but I'm constantly beating myself up about getting to a goal weight which I know I'm not going to achieve and I know that I'm going to ruin my holiday for myself if I don't get the number I want on the scale. I'm having a bad enough time as it is with the depressing bikini shopping. I've lost around 25lb since last years holiday but trying on bikini's I don't feel like I've lost an ounce. I don't want to ruin my holiday feeling bad about myself but its really hard, specially when I had really hoped to have been further on with my weight loss by now....25lbs seems a bit rubbish compared to what other people have managed to lose in a year doing no more than what I have been doing myself. Do I sound a bit selfish and shallow in hoping there are atleast a couple of people round the pool who look just as horrible in a bikini as me lol. My worst nightmare is that everyone but me looks young, slim and gorgeous :( Hopefully once I get there just the fact that I'm on holiday might sort my currently extremely crabby mood out.....sun, sea and cocktails Mmmmmmmm :)
