Original Post by stephtobea9: It's been awhile since I've checked in, but I just wanted to say I completely agree with this. I've been keeping to within 200 calories of my goal (1750 calories per day) each day. I like to have big dinners, so I tend to eat small breakfasts and lunches so I can splurge at dinner time. If I want ice cream for a snack (my weakness), I get it, but I've learned portion control and how not to be a glutton which was always the killer before.
I haven't weighed myself in 2 weeks, and I stepped on the scale this morning and weighed 305 lbs!! I started at the beginning of april at 325 lbs, so that means I've lost 20 lbs in the last three weeks! I know that this will probably be the easiest 20 lbs to lose, but it's a start towards my ultimate goal of 220 by June 1st of 2009 |

Original Post by mmc7891024: As others have said, I wonder if your calorie intake is too low. Slow and steady is better. Try to shoot for a 500-750 calorie deficit. Don't beat yourself up if you messed up. Just get back into the swing of things.

For me it's ice cream. If I get it, I'll go through a whole 1/2 gallon in one night, so I've learned not to buy it, so I don't go crazy with it. |

Original Post by mtczajka: I also have fibromyalgia (probably directly related to how much I weigh), so I understand what it's like. You definitely need to eat breakfast. Once you start forcing yourself to do that, you'll get to the point where you want it. By eating breakfast you'll stave off the mid-morning snack cravings. Your body's metabolism will get a boost, which will make it easier to lose weight. You'll also feel like you have more energy which will make it easier for you to get some activity in. If you can't work out at the gymn (my wife can't, since she has arthritis), go to the pool. Do low-impact water aerobics, or swim. Walk around the block a couple of times. All of these are low-impact and won't hurt your joints. If you're a soda drinker, eliminate it, or switch to diet. I was drinking upwards of 60 oz of soda a day. Now I drink around 20-30 and it's diet. That's given me around 800-1000 calories a day deficit just by eliminating the sugar. I can now actually eat more than I did before and still lose weight. |

| Weight Loss | Feeling Cold, why? | Apr 04 2008 16:20 (UTC) |

Well it seems to me that if you've lost 27 pounds, that might explain your being cold all the time. Less fat means less insulation for your body, which translates into your being colder than you're used to.

Original Post by jerichocheyenne: It's definitely an exciting thing. I weighed in yesterday after a week of watching my calories, and I checked in at 321.2. Just over 4 1/2 pounds in a week! My goal is to weigh myself twice a week since doing it every day can be depressing because of weight fluctuations. |

31 years old, male 5' 10" and I weigh 325 pounds. Ten years ago my weight fluctuated between 205-210, and I was in good shape. Ten years of desk jobs, bad eating habits, and not enough exercise has put on 120 pounds.
My wife and I are having our first child at the end of July, and I want to be healthy for him. My goal is to be at 280 by the time our son is born, at 250 by Jan 1, 2009, and down to 220 by our 4th anniversary on June 1, 2009.
That's a total of 115 lbs in 14 months, or an average of 8 1/2 lbs per month, or 2 lbs each week. I think it's doable, and my health requires me to get it done. |

How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
