| Weight Loss | what do you think? | Apr 08 2009 18:27 (UTC) |
|
"I agree, we need to know your height and weight and your goals. Keep in mind, too, that what you eat counts as much as how much you eat. Are you eating 2300 calories of hamburgers and fries? You may find that high volume, low calorie foods help you stay within your calorie goals. For instance, three cups of green salad has far fewer calories than three medium cookies!"
I'm Female, 5'7, 160 21yrs old. I don't eat fried foods/red meat and rarely have chicken. i get my protein from beans/tofu/greek yogurt/egg whites. i usually allow myself one treat a day--usually a cookie because they're my weakness :) |

TBL is my favorite show of all time. I get so intertwined in it--if they cry, i cry lol. I just want to see everyone succeed and be healthy!!! Sure some people may think/get the wrong impression about personal training from Jillian or Bob's methods, but also remember: 1.) ITS TV--they need stuff like that. 2.) These contestants are in desperate need of a huge push...they led a lazy life prior and they are like children who need to be taught a lesson lol. Plus being nice with weight loss is not the way to go, because its easier to cheat and fall off the wagon or not try as hard. BUT most importantly--I HATE JOELLE! she is a terrible friend...just the fact that she even CONSIDERED that temptation--just to move out of her mothers house is not fair to her "FRIEND" Carla. Joelle is not what I would consider a true friend and I honestly feel as though she was a spoiled brat for wanting to be the one to stay meanwhile Carla was the heaviest woman ever on the show--its just not right. I could go on forever about how Joelle is the new Vicki (as in the person we are going to despise this season.)....ahhh! |

| Weight Loss | Slim Fast? | Jan 12 2009 23:38 (UTC) |

I have found that Slimfast definately helps get you started. About 2 years ago I followed a similar diet (eating every couple hours/abt. 1700 cals/gym 1-2x per day) and I did great and lost the first 10lbs no problem. When I used it I would use slim fast (the canned bev.) as breakfast, then say about 2 hours later I'd do a fiber one or other similar bar and then small lunch about 3 hours later (small salad w/light dressing [or fruit] and a bowl of cereal [or 4oz grilled chicken]) and then have a yogurt later in the day. I would have something similar for dinner as well. I think the key is to watch portion sizes, drink LOTS of water, EXERCISE and make sure you get enough sleep. I followed that for an entire semester and I did great. I dropped about 20lbs and was in the best shape of my life. I also allowed small indulgences each week too (ice cream or a mini bag of skittles etc.) |

I think it depends on what you like...obviously the poster above wasn't crazy about the taste, but I personally love it. I find its really tasty as well as good for you(the "U" is explained on the box) . However, I am bummed at how many calories it is |

Luna bars are great...very tasty :) However when I want something more filling I go with Muscle Milk Light bars. 160-170 calories, 15g of protein and about 4g of fiber. They remind me of a candy bar! Also, South Beach High Protein Cereal Bars are great too, my favorite is cinnamon raisin |

i hate everyone on adderall which is the majority of my campus. i go to a pricey school in ny full of rich kids and ALL of them are on it. they party hard all week, but when it comes to an exam they pop it like its candy and do well. while im at the library out of SELF MOTIVATION studying. its almost like its a crime. all you have to do is act retarded for the psych dept. and have your parents sign off on the fact that you could use a little help with school work and bingo you are given a prescription for add.
AHHHH its sooo frustrating. |

| Weight Loss | Stopping bingeing & overeating: Did it work for you? | Sep 25 2008 04:39 (UTC) |
15 |
I did it! For the most part at least :) My last semester at school was absolutely horrible, socially, emotionally, physically --you name it, i was constantly upset and constantly binging. once i got home for break, i noticed that i still wanted to binge and i struggled for a while. i did lose some of the weight, but i still would be upset and find myself eating. so i finally went to my doctor and she said that my hormones are out of wack and she put me on Yaz to take care of the cravings/mood changes and all that (I didn't start til August on the pill) I still struggled a little as the summer went on b/c all i ever think about is food, but i was in a better place so it slowly phased out for me. i returned to school early to a new situation, new friends and a new living arrangement (a single ahh!) I've been eating better and exercising daily. I still have mini-binges, but that consists of me really wanting ice cream and getting the large instead of the small. i've grown to accept that you need to live a little and not to restrict bc if you do you binge. I started the summer at 162--my highest weight ever! Its now Sept. and I'm down to 149ish. Its been slow, but I'm glad because I know its better that way. I aim to keep my calories under 2000 everyday and exercise everyday at least 30 mins. it also helps relieve stress :) I also try to weigh myself everyday to stay on track, but only log my weight 1 time a week (Wednesdays, when I find I eat the most)

| Weight Loss | Is true Happiness a factor in losing weight? | May 03 2008 18:27 (UTC) |
6 |
omg i totally believe that happiness is a huge factor in losing weight. when you're happy you are more likely to be positive and stick to everything. i know from personal experience that last year at this time I was very happy, having the time of my life and the weight was just falling off, but this year i've been so depressed/stressed and sometimes just feeling as thought i have SAD... I'll be going home in a week and I know once i get there i'll be happier, so i am confident i'll be able to lose the weight. i also have seen this in my best friend as well--whenever we are together, we're happy and we can stick to our diets, but when we are apart we get stressed and panicky and wind up gaining. i have to admit though that i usually gain more because i am a big stress eater, while she is more of a gym skipper when she is stressed. |

I tried the nuts over chocolate...so good! but then this morning i had the chocolate pecan pie one for breakfast--i felt like i was having a brownie or something really bad for me it was so good! |

| Weight Loss | Anyone else work around food... | Apr 09 2008 00:53 (UTC) |
8 |
hey i had the unfortunate experience of working at an outback steakhouse for about 6 months and let me tell you do i know about working around food!!! to start i'm not one for fried foods, so i never touched the blooming onion [just the smell made me nauseous] but after a while the cheese fries would get to me and i'd slip up--then i learned that they were the #1 worst food to order out @ a restaurant so i know better from now on! my main weakness though was being around heavier co-workers who insisted on eating 24/7 and obsessing about food and drinking regular soda like it was their job. even though i'd bring healthy snacks [such as cereal in a baggie b/c it took time to eat!] i noticed that i too had begun to become one of them. my best advice for you is to keep your mouth occupied with other things and keep in mind that you already know that its good, you don't need to try it again--the food/recipe isn't changing! best of luck and if all else fails, run...run very far away from that job haha! |

i'd like to get down to around 135-140. I was at 138 last may and i hope to reach that by july if not sooner! I try to eat as healthy as i can, making sure to get protein in too. last year my schedule was great and i was working out twice a day burning like 700-1000/day and eating around 1700. Now I don't have the time to work out as much, but i do try and control my cravings(eat 1400-1700/day and burn around 350-500). i'm over for today, but i plan on heading back to the gym tonight for a little to make up for it and get back on track tomorrow. i don't drink anything other than water, coffee/nonfat lattes or the very occasional sprite zero. I'm away at school now so times get very stressful, hence the weight gain, but im focused on summer & that bikini, so hopefully we can pull this off |

my number one tip is don't completely deprive yourself!!! you will go crazy! just be mindful of portions and even allow 1 small treat a day. also i know from experience that whenever food is out--i'll want it, but just take an extra second to think about it "am i really hungry?...i already know what it tastes like, so why bother?...is it worth the calories?" and hold off on eating for a few minutes and it goes away. i have a desk job where i just sit and get bored so of course i want to eat so that is when i call on my good friend--chewing gum! |

i have to agree i have had the weight control cinnamon kind and its delish! just one packet is very filling, but my mom who actually introduced me to it usually eats 2 and that can last her the day until dinner. my personal favorite though is the low sugar apples and cinnamon kind--its 110 calories and im addicted. the kashi go lean hot cereal is really good too, high in fiber and protein for about 150 calories! |
