Eating is my problem. I can't stop. I'm addicted to food, any type of food. I love healthy food, veggies, whole wheats, fruits but I also love chocolate and ice cream and hamburgers and french fries and since the latter is more readily available, I'll attack it when my mind says its hungry even if my body is not. I desperately try to eat healthy and stop eating around 8 o'clock at night but when I'm studying at 12am my body goes...okay, time to feed me and there's nothing available I go into food withdrawal. I can't function, I can't focus, all I can think about is eating. Right now I don't really care about losing weight. I care about getting over my addiction. I was hoping that by forcing myself to eat only certain foods I would slowly lose the cravings for things that are bad for me. |

Detoxification isn't really my goal so I don't know what toxins I'm trying to get rid of. In lieu of a better way to say it, I'm testing my will power. |

hi guys, I wanted your opinions on my future course of action. I have been having some trouble in my life figuring out where I stand with the Lord and who I want to be seen as. I decided to go on a spiritual fast to get my mind focused where it needs to be. However, instead of cutting out food completely, I'm only going to eat raw fruits and veggies and I'm still going to take my multi-vitamin to make sure I get enough of everything. It's really a test of my will power, of which I have none, and will last 21 days starting May 12th. |

Someone explain my psychotic weight yo-yoing to me. One week ago I was 219.5. Then I went up to 221.5. Yesterday I weighed in at 221. Today? 218.5. As far as I can tell, what i did yesterday was I didn't snack while I was at work though I did have one of a our fresh cookies. Come on, I had to try it to make sure it was good before I sold any! Went to the gym, did some light weight training, and then went to supper which consisted of a slice of cheese pizza, about 2 tbsp of chicken broccoli alfredo, a baked potato, and 2 tbsp. of frozen yogurt. |

Hey gals! I hit 219.5 today!!! Hoping to drop another 1.5 lbs by Monday but I'm happy to be out of the 220s hopefully to never see them again! I'm uber stressed out because I have to get a decent amount of my final English portfolio done by 3:20 today. *is having a nervous breakdown* |

All right I'm down another pound from my binge weight to 220.5. Hopefully I'll break the 220s next Hilwe! I'm going to work in a few minutes so it'll be superhard to stay focused but I'm taking a couple hundred calorie packs with me for snacks instead of stealing crossiant rolls and blueberry muffins. (I work at a bistro). To see 218 by monday!!! |

Watch-It's probably water retention. You bloat on your TOM and that's all water. Try drinking lots and lots of water, that'll flush all the excess out. sarah-try doing something different for your workout that you've never tried like bellydancing or pilates, something exotic! Turning exercise into something fun helps get through that "I'd rather sleep all day" stage. Get some buddies to work out with! I swear that nothing tastes better than cold water when you're hot and sweaty. That's one thing I loved at my YMCA was they passed out cold cloths to the people on the cardio deck. After 30 minutes on the elliptical, that ice water feels like heaven. Leads me to a question. Can you drink too much water too soon after working out? Any takers? |

I've lost 3.5 pounds back down to 220 from my cheat day gain. That really gives me motivation to keep going! I envy skinny girls because they're not as out of shape as I am. They aren't huffing and puffing after walking across campus to get to class or after walking up three flights of stairs. That is my motivation. I can't stand being out of shape. I want to be STRONG! And before I get off on a rant about that...the rough draft of my english paper is due in 45 minutes. GAH! Congrats everybody and keep it up! ali, keep those recipes coming! Or at least send me a site. I love Asian food and something I can whip up for under 400 cals? *hugs ali* |

I mentioned on my journal that my reward for losing 50 pounds by the end of September would be an XBOX360. When my mother found out I had cheated and regained the weight I had lost, she decided I needed a week to week basis of motivation. So now I need to earn the money for my XBOX on a week to week basis though she did extend my deadline until Dec. 1. I have until Dec.1 to lose 73 pounds and earn a little over $14 a week to get my XBOX. Talk about motivation! There isn't a scale at my house, it's at my dorm, so I don't know how well I've done since coming home a couple of days ago. Congrats to everyone on losing weight and fitting in to the clothes they want to wear!!!! |

Bzb-Most of the games have the workout mode on it except for maybe the first couple of games. I personally recommend DDR MAX and Extreme2. Those are my favorites. |

Ugh, I feel absolutely horrible right now. I have gained back all the weight I lost from poor eating the past couple of days. I have to go to work soon but I know what I have to do. When I get off work I'm going to work out with my Turbo Jam (instead of DDR) because I really need to build some muscle and I'll have a salad for lunch today instead of the Jack Chicken. I might even try putting portobello mushrooms on it. (I'm going ovo-lacto vegetarian) |

I'm in a dorm now as well and I've found those steam fresh veggies they sell now are the best thing in the whole fricken world. I have a mini-fridge and I fill the freezer up with peas, corn, broccoli, carrots, and still have room for one pint of ice cream. Plus they really don't have to remain frozen. I stuck one in a ziploc and 3 hours later threw it in the microwave to go with my lunch. Was still good. |

You know, trying to keep my roommate from using my workout mode on DDR is very bothersome. Grrr... Here everyone! Have a virtual cheat moment. *gives everybody half a poptart until they are gone* |

I feel lucky to have a PS2... GOOD MORNING PEOPLE!!!!!!! Today's my off day so I slept until 9:51 this morning. I got up and immediately got my breakfast Ensure and then I spent a couple hours going back and forth between my computer and my DDR game. My DDR maching clocked 230 calories and now I really need to run downstairs and get my laundry that has been down there for three days.............. On the other hand, lost .5 pound from yesterday! My goal is to be at 216.5 by Friday. That's 1 1/2 lb to go! |

If you are bored with your workout, try looking at some of the exercises they have here on this website. What I do to keep myself from getting bored is I print out several different exercise plans and some swim plans from swimplan(dot)com because I love swimming. I have a different plan for each day of the week. Some days I do cardio, some days I strength train, some days I swim, and some days I do cardio and muscle-toning.

Oh Ensure is a lot better than some of the things I've tried. It tastes a bit like dark chocolate. I'd compare it to Protein Triple Threat Chocolate Caramel Fusion or to the Instant Breakfast No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate. I like it. If you're one to skip breakfast (like me) it only takes a few seconds to drink and you've got a whole meals worth of nutrition for only 230 calories. It gets a grade A on here. Lots of nutrients that are hard to find in other stuff too. I now have 5 DDR games including DDR Max, Extreme, Extreme2, Konamix, and Supernova. Anybody else love DDR? |

Thanks bunches! While we were at the fair there were like four or five stands selling funnel cakes and I love those things so much and finally my mom just said, "Just get one, Rachel." The place we went actually had MINI funnel cakes so I was able to enjoy myself. I actually noticed a huge difference today when I deviated from my normal breakfast of an Ensure: High Protein to some leftover KFC. I was yawning and hungry by 10am when I ate at 8:30. With my Ensure, I'm good until well after 1pm. |

Little help here...I just got back from the Ren Faire and I had a small funnel cake. It was about half the size of normal funnel cakes, maybe 3 inches across, and I can't find its calorie count to log it. Any guesses? |

Okay yesterday was horrible. I had a pretzel for breakfast followed by a one hour drive after which I sat on the couch and ate mac and cheese and pet my cat. I went horseback riding for about an hour with my mom and then my dad brought home KFC. My dad's real sensitive about 'taking care' of my and my mom so if I fixed myself a salad, he'd be real hurt. This morning, I was so glad my sister stole the scale when she moved out. Today I'll really watch what I eat. My mom and I are going to the Renaissance Faire so I'll get lots of walking in. Congrats everybody on the loss and KEEP IT UP! |

Turn ordinary activities into exercise. While your cleaning the house, wear ankle weights. Take the stairs two at a time. |

I could not stand being around that much coffee. Blagh. My mother came up with a great way to keep me from getting hooked on coffee. She gave it to me straight black when I was seven. It was disgusting. Now I like Mocha Javalanches (Blended iced coffee) but I only drink them before an all-night studying session. Need to get rid of those all-night studying sessions anyway. I can't function sleep-deprived. I was so happy this morning! Yesterday I weighed in at 219 and this morning I came in at 218. That's my two pound goal for this week and its only Wednesday. This is only my third day calorie counting. I came in at 1410 calories yesterday. I'm almost terrified of keeping this up, of changing and actually becoming what I imagine myself to be. I'm also terrified of getting going and then not being able to continue. I'm so scared I just...whoa. |

Oh it's so hard to keep from taking a nap right now!! Just got off work and logged my calories. I'm at 1235 calories and I need to burn some more to make my deficit but I do NOT want to walk down three flights of stairs, work out, then walk back up three flights of stairs. I want to sleep. Curse being on the third floor of my dorm! CURSE IT!

It felt huge when I got down to 219 this morning. I just can't imagine how I've let myself get this big! Before my 'depression' stage I weighed 170. What I would give for that weight right now. My goal is to get to 170 by September 31. If I do that my mom said she would buy me an XBox 360 and I can get more DDR games!!! I love DDR and for anyone who loves video games, you'll love DDR. Ugh, posting on my break and got to go back to work. |

Woke up this morning after working until 10pm last night and I have to be at work in ten minutes. Unfortunately, I really don't care if I'm late. The good news was that after I crawled out of bed, the scale was down 1 pound from my last weigh in. *dances* If I can pull in another pound by Friday I'll have met my goal. I'm not sure if what I call 'southern tea' has any benefits other than being a cold drink. I know green tea gives your metabolism a mild boost and is full of antioxidants which help boost the immune system. All I can say is I drink hot looseleaf green tea generally every morning and didn't get sick at all through cold and flu season.

Tea is something I REALLY can help you with. Everybody hears everyone talking about the antioxidants in certain teas and I have to say, if you can find an health food or herbal store that sells looseleaf tea in your area, you are super lucky. The best 'bagged' tea that I've found on the market is Tazo. A cup of awake in the morning is a great way to get your metabolism going. In looseleaf, this is the equivalent to oolong tea, essentially 'black' tea. It has simply been picked later and oxidized a little longer which gives it a fuller flavor. Green tea is the next best aka gunpowder green. The Lipton green tea that you mix with water is what I would suggest. The only problem I have with it is that its flavored with honey and lime or raspberry. I prefer the actual flavor. Looseleaf is simply green tea. You will save money with looseleaf tea that I can guarantee. You get 24 bags for about 4 dollars with a tablespoon of tea in each bag maybe? One ounce of looseleaf green tea costs about $1.80 at my store and making it a cup at a time I've made over 30 cups of tea, guesstimating since I drink tea every day and it has lasted me over a month. Tea is a great natural way to replace coffee in the mornings and whenever you need a little boost. If you're a sucker for Starbucks and other coffee shops, check their menu. More often than not, they have some form of hot herbal tea available. Just as with coffee and all other drinks, you need to be careful about how much sugar you put in. An absolutely great sugar substitute is stevia, an herb that ends up being almost 100x sweeter than processed sugar. It comes in packets now but I get the large bottle. It's about an ounce or two and comes with a dropper. One or two drops is the equivalent of two teaspoons of sugar but the body doens't absorb stevia like it absorbs sugar. Stevia passes straight through the body. My mom once cut up a bunch of fresh strawberries and put two dropperfuls of stevia on them. It tasted just like they had soaked in sugar for hours and I still lost a pound on the scale the next morning. |

Oatmeal is a great breakfast because not only does it fill you up, it has loads of fiber and whole grains. Adding a serving of fruit to it shouldn't be too bad. Even though fruits are considered "sugary" it's all natural sugar which does NOT do what processed sugar does to the body. The tortilla chips aren't horrible either if you eat it sparingly. The salsa is great for a serving of veggies but don't sit on the couch with the bag of chips and eat away. Get a paper plate (I love paper plates, so dorm friendly) and measure out a serving of chips, what you can hold in the cup made by your two hands. Then go to town. Popcorn will always be better if its light butter and salt but none of us can eat the same thing over and over again. |

I'm close but I desperately need motivation. I'm only 18 (is beaten with sticks for not being twenty) but I weigh 220lbs at 5'6" and I'm trying to get down to between 140 and 130. I'm in college and just started calorie counting trying to stay between 1500 and 1600 calories. I'm pretty active now with my new DDR game and walking to and from class. At work I'm standing and running around nearly constantly (got to love food service). I started out at 223 and since my freshman semester I've been fluctuating between 223 and 219. The other day I saw 217 and nearly died from relief. (then I gained it back due to poor eating) It's hard to lose weight healthily when you want it so bad. |

I know this might terrify you heading up, but a normal weight for a 5'6" female is between 120 and 136lbs. I don't really know which is worse, being severely overweight like me or being severely underweight but I know its hard if gaining weight is just as hard as trying to lose it. You really have to play around to find your calorie count but 1500 should be your minimum. Try increasing your calories just a little bit each day. Remember, you are not alone. |
