Original Post by roylucie92: My answer EXACTLY. I think if I'd had a scale, I'd never have let myself get to the weight I'm at now. And paying $100 a month for a gym membership sure as hell ensures I'm there 5 days a week! |

Original Post by du57y: That is not true. There are like 70 calories PER OUNCE of vodka. don't ruin a perfectly good glass of wine by turning it into a spritzer; have a glass of white wine and follow it with two glasses of water and EAT BEFORE YOU GO OUT - so you don't have to stave off any alcohol fueled cravings... |

| Weight Loss | Do men really prefer curvier girls? | Apr 11 2008 17:25 (UTC) |

I read this study once that said it's not the BMI or weight that makes a woman sexy, it's the hip to waist ratio. Tiny waist, curvy hips is sexiest. Think Marilyn Monroe. |

Some of your stories made me want to cry! They reminded me of being with my ex who was not supportive of anything, let alone my working out. I think he feared I'd leave him when I realized I looked hot. Boyfriend now is the one who gently nudged me in this direction. He is incredibly healthy and I slowly picked up his habits. He loved me at my heaviest and told me I was beautiful often enough that I started to believe him. I started working out so I could be strong enough to keep up with him while hiking and biking. The most important thing though is that he helped me work out my issues with food (all or nothing) and taught me to treat food as fuel for my body rather than treats to sooth the daily hurts and stresses. |

| Weight Loss | Tall Twins- Find people with similar stats :) | Apr 09 2008 06:02 (UTC) |

28 | Female | 5'11" sw: 228 cw: 219 lw: 150 gw: 150 - 160 I think tall women have longer fingers than average so the wrist test doesn't work so well. I don't think I have a small frame. My wrist measures under 6" though. i have a muscular build and once I start working out, the fat melts away pretty easily. I am staggering my calories to avoid plateaus and it has been incredibly successful. I range from 1200 to 2000 calories throughout the week and work out 4-5 times. Would be great to find a twin! |

| Fitness | What did you accomplish fitness wise today to make you a better person? | Apr 09 2008 05:45 (UTC) |

I did 50 100 lb crunches and 50 100 lb back presses - both on the precore then worked my arms (which I HATE doing cause I have no upper body strength). I'm a 28 year old woman and work out at a gym on Wall St. surrounded by mostly alph male traders and I was so proud of myself when I had to actually INCREASE the weight load when I got to the machines! I followed that up with 30 minutes of crosstraining on the elliptical machine.

| The Lounge | Early Birds & Night Owls- Advice sought - # 11 | Apr 08 2008 16:38 (UTC) |

1. Definitely a morning bird. Am up by 6:30 during the week and "sleep in" until 8 on weekends! 2. My boyfriend WAS a night owl. When we first started dating, we both were really. But a combination of work and working out changed that and I had to get up earlier. It was tough at first but now I don't even need an alarm clock to wake up and he generally gets up with me. 3. That said, I prefer to work out after lunch. I like to take the morning to do more cerebrally challenging tasks and I use a mid-afternoon workout to boost my energy levels when they're at their lowest. 4. We are very resilient creatures - your body will accommodate your changing demands better than you think. |

| Weight Loss | How much weight to lose a dress size? | Apr 04 2008 18:08 (UTC) |
|
Yeah it depends on your body type. I am 5'11 and went from a size 10 at 155 to a size 16 at 230 (in about a year, due to medication). That's 70 lbs and only a 4 size difference. It generally takes about 15 lbs per dress size for me. |

| Weight Loss | Nurtition Grading System gets a D- (99% confidence) | Apr 04 2008 14:10 (UTC) |
|
I agree with GIJANE: if you eat whole foods and cook your own meals, getting an A daily is a sinch. That said - the grading system is a bit skewed. I am a big fan of salmon - which never scores very high because apparently it is high in cholesterol. What the grading system fails to take into account is that the cholesterol found in salmon (and most fish) is the GOOD CHOLESTEROL. |

| Weight Loss | what made you fat/gain a lot of weight? | Apr 03 2008 17:14 (UTC) |

I was never a big drinker until relatively recently (past 3 or 4 years). My job requires lots of social drinking and that's when I noticed the substantial weight gain. |
