I find it hard to believe that someone as active as you are would have the same caloric needs as someone like me. I definitely think that 1300 is not enough for your needs. With that being said, what kind of workouts are you doing? Cardio is great for burning calories. If you're not getting enough calories, though, your metabolism slows up (starvation mode). If you're doing weights, you'll get the tone you want and burn fat. Just remember, muscle weighs more than fat. So, are you unhappy with what the scale says or are you unhappy with your body? Were you active when you were 117lbs? There's a lot of factors in this equation. You may want to talk to different physical trainers. I have NEVER heard of the same plan for everyone. That just doesn't sound right. |

I agree with nbkelly. You're probably gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat. Try taking your measurements instead of depending on the scale. Also, make sure you're getting enough calories. Your metabolism slows down if you're not getting enough nutrients. Get enough sleep, too. Your body produces a lot of healthy chemicals when you're sleeping. Try not to stress out about it, either. Stress is not good for weight loss. It sounds like you're on the right track, though. Don't worry about the scale. |

Gosh, I remember going through some of the same things when I was about your age. It's amazing how a few years will change your perspective on everything you feel right now. I'm sure that doesn't help you feel any better, so here's my thought on the matter: As far as you know, you were both drunk. People do and say crazy things when they're wasted. If you're having a hard time remembering his reaction to what you said, chances are, he's having a hard time remembering what you said. Also, guys don't dwell on things like we do. He might not be acting any different than he used to, but possibly picking up on your uneasiness. Me, personally, I'd act real casual. Talk to him like nothing happened, and invite him to hang out. If you really want to downplay it, go with something like "Hey, I'm going for coffee after work. Want to come along?" Once you two are alone to talk, you can bring it up if you feel you need to. I'd probably say, "OMG! I can't believe how much I drank the other night. I was probably ridiculous." That way, I'd be opening up the dialogue without admitting anything and acting like nothing happened. How he responds is how I'd gauge the situation. That's me, though. You'll have to figure out what works best for you and what you're comfortable with. If you're not getting the answers you need, pray (or meditate) on it. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Did you have a "period" after you were pregnant? | Apr 27 2008 14:57 (UTC) |

finnsal- if you just got off the pill, your period could be totally out of whack. It could be lighter or heavier, whether or not you're pregnant. I wish you all the best in TTC. Having a child is the most wonderful, rewarding experience I've ever been thru. It's also the most tiring- LOL! Enjoy the time you have to yourselves, in the meantime. They are few and far between after a baby. |

Eh, I think everyone has their own way of doing things and losing weight. I've tried the "buckle down, and have some willpower" thing, and it didn't work for me. I'd lose a lot of weight, then eventually gain it all back. The truth: I LOVE food! You just have to find what works for you. Here's what's working for me. |

I'm not sure what TTC #1 means, but I was unknowingly pregnant for almost 2 months. A trip to my in-laws prompted me to take a pregnancy test. I didn't really think I was pregnant, but I was quite "carsick" every time we were in the car. I've always had motion sickness, so I didn't think anything of it. I just thought the drive was really bad this time. |

| Young Calorie Counters | I'm confused about the Caloric intake thing! | Apr 04 2008 15:24 (UTC) |

You should consume approximately 1550 calories for healthy weight loss. By consuming less than 1200 calories, you're actually starving your body, which slows your metabolism. If you're working out, you should adjust that change on your profile. It may change what you should consume. |
