wow
this is fantastic feedback! Thanks so much for all you input. I know that my self esteem issues make me less attractive for sure. I hope soon i will find some more active people to hang out with, then i will feel less alien haha
I agree very much that everyone has different preferences... but i was cheated on recently by my boyfriend of 3 years.. and now he is dating a short, chubby girl...
but hey, she has long brown hair and wears feminine clothes which i guess means shes more attractive to him then i was. (I am blonde... ) At least i can rest with the fact that my personality gets me good friends.. all i eed to do now is work on my body image
Thanks guys! |

| Fitness | How Do We Dispell the "Pink Dumbell Theory"? | Jan 27 2009 09:27 (UTC) |

http://caloriecount.about.com/female-gym-surv ey-u-help-ft127054
This is my thread. It is about the gym i am planning to open. I have been trying to work on the exact same issue. At first i was considering an female-only gym just to get those who were too afraid to try some real weights and learn about true strength training. But after many posts i realised having classes teaching women about the benefits of lifting heavy and pushing yourself instead of adding reps could be more beneficial as it gives them a choice to go female-only or mixed.
I love this post as i know you come across this pink dumbell theory all the time! It is awful - my sister goes to the gym now and was advised to lift the same and just increase reps. I said it's useless and she said that they know because they are qualified. Load of rubbish! She's toned, i'd give her that, but she needs muscle for more fat loss and to keep her body strong not just slim. Oh well... hopefully i can try and change some people's minds. |

| Fitness | Female Gym Survey - could u help me out?! :) | Jan 27 2009 09:19 (UTC) |

I really think there is a mix of both opinions... i am getting the impression most like the option of a mixed gym but think women-only classes are good to get more business. I think one comment by desert-lilly made perfect sense - "The one thing I do find annoying with ladies-only gyms is that they tend to overemphasize on aerobic type exercises and underemphasize strength training". This is what i intend to change. Having regular evening strength training classes for females and a mixture of cardio and weight circuits for any women who feel uncomfortable aorund males in gyms or for those who just want an extra session. I will not only get booming business from males as most gyms do, but will give women a chance to choose and to learn more whilst getting fit.
Thank you so much for the insight! It has been more than i could of asked for thank you.

Thats good advice. I am planning to put it in Central London in England so many working people will be going. I understand your opinion. I am the same - training in a gym with no females at all until after work when i am not even there. Maybe i should just do some strength training sessions in a mixed gym.
Thanks a lot! |

I agree with GI-Jane.. The most important thing for you to do now is not to ask for other people's help, but to talk to him first and see if he will give you any answers. If not then it could be a number of things. He may be plainly denying having issues with food, he may be depressed and not hungry etc... there are many things that can lead to this sort of behaviour.

| Fitness | HIIT with cardio? | Jun 22 2008 10:18 (UTC) |

You could do a circuit! The best thing about these is that you can do it at ur house if you have stairs. This one is best cos it is really simple... just do each one for a minute and repeat the circuit 5-6 times for a 30 min workout. 1) star jumps 2)jumping squats - (jump in the air and then touch the floor with your fingers, bending into a squat nice and controlled - great for legs and butt) 3) jog on spot 4)step up and down on bottom stair - nice and quick 5) hop with both feet up 4 steps and run back down.. or just run up and down. REPEAT! this is great for fitness and an alternative to just running.. it can be considered HIIT if you push yourself... levae 1 min rest between each set and no slacking. It is also quite fun with someone else spotting you. |

| Weight Loss | Can't seem to get enough protein | May 31 2008 15:37 (UTC) |

- chicken - 100g contains around 100 calories and 25g protein.. - wholemeal bread can contain around 5 or 6 grams of protein per slice - slices of white meat help it really isnt very hard... i eat around 1400- 1500 and around 130-50 grams of protein... so believe me its do-able. |

| Weight Loss | To those having trouble getting in 1200 calories... | May 31 2008 15:34 (UTC) |

If you are eating treats just because it is in front of you that suggests issues with food also... most of us just eat cos of the sensation we enjoy from the taste. This gets linked with the image of a certain food and we imediatley ignore hunger signals. Getting to 1200 calories can be difficult and isnt a medical issue... if you are really watching the types of food you eat... veg and fruit is naturally more filling... we all know that so just pushing for some more protein in the final few calories will be fine... i suggest eating a lot of protein with every meal and not just veg ... it will also help boost the calories consumed. |

yeah i heard the same thing. My mum went to a nutritionist who told her to drink 30 minutes before a meal and 30 minutes after. It still keeps you full but doesnt disturb the digestive process. It is very hard to not drink while eating on cetain meals but it definitley helps. |

| Weight Loss | The Lunchbox Diet - its's not another fad!!! | Apr 12 2008 09:37 (UTC) |

i agree that the book isnt neccessary and it really is pretty DUH simple but i know for one that just doing this everyday is a much healthier way of snacking and getting sufficient calories because you are more aware that you are ALLOWED to snack very regularly. Its like when you are ill... you have tomato/chicken soup by the bowlful... same principle i guess Its also great if you travel far from your gym... i have an hour to get home after weight lifting so my protein intake is no where near as affective after 20 minutes.. this really helps get it down in a decent amount without protein supplements. |
