haweyegal, you can consume a protein shake whenever you feel like it, but for training purposes, you should consume your protein shake, no less than 2-3 hours prior to your physical activity, more specifically wieght resistance training. Your body, needs time to digest and then process the sugars (hopefully coming from complex carbs, and not simple. Simple sugars, cause your insulin levels to rise too fast, and are only good for needs of immediate energy!), and proteins. Your liver must process and break down the proteins in order for your muscles to be provided it's neccesary glucose, which will help in your endurance level of your activity as well. Training too soon after a meal, shake, or whatever, is why people get muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting, dizziness..etc. while exercising. Your blood flow (which mind you is carrying oxgen rich cells) is flowing to your digestive tract and away from your muscles. Where obviously is where it needs to be in the moment of workouts! It is misunderstood the time frame of optimum nutrient absorption, whether it being pre-or post. With post workout, *assuming it was an instense workout involving anerobic, and aerobic activity for a duration of no less than 40 minutes, you'd wants to consume no more than 100grams of sugars, being in the form of simple and complex, to readily supply the body with the glucose to use for repairing the and rebuilding what was brokendown during your workout, and don't forget another good amount of protein! If not done within an apporpriate time frame of no more than 1 hours after workout, your body will resort to find energy from other sources to repair and rebuild. YOUR MUSCLE PROTEIN! But to answer your question, just taking protein won't make you bulk up. But not getting enough of the fine nutrient, will not only have you lose weight, you will be making extra room for fat to be stored when you start gaining weight again. Not getting enough protein, is only going to have your bodsy feeding itself by using your muscle proteins, which is why crash dieters loose weight so fast by eating less that what the need to function. Your weight gain that was noticed, could obviously be a number of reasons because you are female. But also after a weight resistance routine, your muscles are reatining fluid to help in it's reparing stages. This is sometimes why you may see 1-2 pounds extra. NO, it's not immidiate muscle gain. Drink plenty of water though no matter what, when you are taking in more protein than required for your lean body weight (mean muscle composition only, not fat, bone, and muscle) be sure to drink at least a gallon or more a day, to help the liver process the toxins that are produced when breaking down proteins. This will help to eleviate some of the danger of liver damaging or scarring known to be cause by excessive protein consumption among professional athletes. ummm....good luck. |

Well, some of these are really good suggestions, although I have no idea why most are added extra sugars or flavorings to their supposed "healthy shake". If you are carefully reading the labels of your protein you will notice it is loaded with natural, artificial, and /or (notice I put and/or, for those of you who use 'pure protein' or seomthing along the lines of EAS)other additives that give it a sweetened flavor. Such as the cocoa powder in your chocolate flavor or the vanilla bean extract in the vanilla. These are sweet, but to the not so acquired taste bud, of the "New to the health food seen person" they might be bland, give it time, and your taste buds will accustom to hte flavor. Remember when you decided to switch from regular to diet, or from full fat to fat free...you got used to it right? And those of you who used more will power and told yourself how much you wanted a change, didn't take long to get used to the new taste! As for thickness, it's theprocess that the food is going through that gives it it's volume. You are crushing, spinning,puree-ing, and there are loads of pockets of air that are being forced into the food. You can add volume just by adding something creamy,it's not neccessarily the ice or the banana. If you think it is too thick, don't omit something first off, just add more liquid to thin it out! A little bit milk, soymilk, whatever. I find if I add too much ice, it tends to water down. Keep in mind the banana is packed with sugar, and cals, so if you are going for a ligth version, use half the banana. And if you dont like to add ice, freeze the banana. MAybe it's me, ubt I have a weird palate. Raised vegatarian and in a very athletic household, we constantly had your whole food, natural, organic thing out there, before 'WHole Foods' was even built, and the whole trend spread. we would make our own shakes at home of course, and my mother started using this Joe Weider blend, and some time down the road, after we visited the first 'Whole Foods' market in Texas, we switched to SPIRUTEIN. Great taste, and i guess I'm a stickler for the VANILLA flavored protein powders, because I love strawberry banana smoothies, that i also make at home. As an adult, and serious athlete I changed from SPIRUTEIN, to EAS (any lite oneFrench Vanilla of course, and Pure Protein. Which I have found to be the cheapest, and great quality per serving, and not so many calories at all. only (120 cals per serving, 23g protein). This is good for me because I add a crap load of stuff to my shales depending on the workout. On my longer, more intense, workouts, I try to use the right amount of natural sugars, complex carbs, and simple proteins. A shake would be similar to this receipe: 1 serving protein powder (120cals) 4 cubes ice (I like them cold, and frosty) 6 oz fat free yogurt (60 cals) 3 Tbsp Whole Flax Seeds (160 cals)*make sure you puree for a finner grit 1 cup light soy/ or fat free milk (60-90 cals) half frozen banana(med) (60cals) 2-3 frozen strawberries (16 cals) 1 packet of Green Vibrance,SuperGreenFood, or the like (20 cals) All in all this shake is packed with tons of protein!!! Over 40 grams worth, over 12 grams of fiber, and all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs pre-post workout! this shake may head towards the 400 calories limit for some, but for long intense workouts, especially wieght lifters, it is very important to be sure to get the carbs in post workout to prevent the body from using the only other source of energy at that time, which is your muscle proteins, so since glucose is easier to convert into energy dont skimp on the carbs and protein!!!!

| Fitness | Toes go numb while on Eliptical? | Sep 05 2008 21:48 (UTC) |

well, it's not just your gait that can cause the numbing feeling in your toes, i like to be more on the balls of my feet because then it is more like running. You don't really use your heels while running anyway, and if the elliptical is suppose to simulate a similar motion, than being on your heels doesn't neccessarily cut it. On most top of the line elliptical machines, the foot pedals are adjustable by degree, or height. Since everyones stride and pronation are different the regual elliptical machine, can cause this for someone with a particular form of their foot, and how they use it to push off, or stride forward, or backward etc. If the degree of the pedal can be changed adjusted lower, or more upward, can really benefit the position of the foot, and the amount of pressure that is constantly bearing on it. Lind of like when you stand in line for a long time, or even if you were to sit on your hands. Constant pressure, and disrupted flow of blood/oxygen to the appendage, can casue that same tingling feeling. A change in position, stride, and also lowering your duration of how long you stay on the machine can all be helpful benefactors in lessening the problem. here's a link with some really helpful tips, most of what is already mentioned but it is fully dedicated to the 'elliptical machine problem' http://www.home-elliptical-machines.com/ellip tical-articles/numb-feet-on-elliptical-machin es/ |

I don't think it can be done absolutely on your own. If you don't inquire the help of a nutritionist or therapist, you at least need the help of friends and family. And I mean help, not criticism! Trying to get over any addiction (which is what ED's are considered) or mental illness on your own will only lead to a relapse. It mihgt no be in a month or two and could actually be a year before a relapse. But it is believed that having the tendancy to slip back into ED habits is always lingering. You never can really "cure" yourself. You can however find healthy ways of suppressing the behaviors that come along with the disorders. For years I've battled and it's harder when you have other diagnoses, but compared to how I used to be, I am way better now! I am living healthier and not so obsessive with my food or eating. However, I may slip sometimes, I have learned with help from therapy ways of getting my strength back and not letting it get the best of me. If you prefer to go at it alone, remember to enlist an accountability person, whether it's a friend or family memeber who can help talk to you about it, or you can just vent to and at least highlight your improvements with. And then of course you have the fellow CC'ers to ask for help and support. |

Well, many people will reply by saying you can't spot reduce and in much effort as you may try, the other areas that you wish would stay( i.e. boobs, butt, the nicer curves. ), will be the first to leave before you ever get rid of the most wanted area! This area in fact is the most common area that is the toughest, and most of the time the last. Especially for women whom have given birth (especially more than once), had c-sections, or have a family history of diabetes. This area can be prone to stubborness! I have a piece of tummy i wish would disappear, but mostly it's due to stretched out skin, and the tiny pockets of fat seem to be shrinking, but i know it won't completely vanish! You said you are consistently working out, do you still maintain a healthy diet? Are your deficits appropriate? What type of cardio do you perform? Sometimes changing your routines can have a significant improvement, and also making the intensity higher. I still workout for more than an hour, but I continually am doing intervals, and never do the same thing all the time. IT keeps my heart rate going up and up, and my weight, down. Try running long distance and doing hills, or sprints, to help speed along your attempt in ridding yourself of your tummy. I've noticed that my abdominals are the strongest since I have been adding more mileage to my runs and working on speed. I have toned (except for the baby area) abs, nice obliques that running has taken most of the credit for! Try it , you may like it, and get addicted to it like I have once you start seeing the results! GOOD LUCK! |

Thanks for the advice blardin, I actually feel it will need to go that far, I tried to graduate high school as early as possible and get emancipated to leave her house! It came back to bite me though, because I figured I was grown and should be more of an adult, instead of finishing college I started a family. I tried ignoring her for almost a couple months! And you know what she said, her and my grandmother!?!? They said that they will call DFCS and say that i'm unfit and have to take meds and that I beat my children and my fiance molest them, to get them taken away from me, since I won't let them have a relationship with my mother or grandmother. Of course these are lies of their accusations, but my mother also said she would take me to court to try and get grandparents rights of visitation! My therapists says she doesn't have rights in my situation because she has never taken care of my children or provided support, but it scares me still that they would go so far just to be so hateful, and not realize that I don't want my children ot suffer the same emotional and verbal abuse as I've suffered. Ahh!!! We shall continue this later, you can email me or message me, since this may get more personal for the forum, I'm going to literally run now! Ciao! |

yeah, the ironic thing about that sheblardin, is my mother has her master's in mental health counseling! Weird huh?!?! We have mental illnes sin our family history, and my grandmothers is more obvious than my own, but my mother has always denied hers, and i can tell she has her issues, but don't know what infact it is, i'm no psych so i can't diagnose her, but after years of her tormenting me wit her degree, and analyzing me to bits and pieces, i just can't seem, to write her off so easily. There are a whole list of things that she has done that even anybody, would be appauled by and wonder why I still communicate to her, but i just guess one day she'll change. Today I got yet another email, and of course i had to read at least the first two lines, then discarded it. I just don't get it. IT hurts me so bad, and she knows it, and continues to beat me down. She actuallyputs me down for being a heterosexual! She makes it seem as though her homosexuality is so much purer and the fact that I have had abusive or unsettling relationships with men, and a couple bad marriages, that i'm a whore! She's called me that. I mean we've all had bad relationships, but what makes me a whore!?!?! Because I feel as though, there is indeed a love out there for me, that i haven't given up in finding love? Which I believe I've finally found him. But it's been displayed all my life with my mothers unlucky relationships too...many, many, women have crossed our threshold when i was growing up, she claimed love, and everytime it would fail, i lost count, but yet, i'm the whore because I choose to be with men. hmmm. Okay. Anyhooo, my therapist is going to get an earful tomorrow, and hopefully help me get some of the weight off my chest, thank you all for your responses. I downloaded some good beats a little bit ago, so I will try to get a good workout in, I'm shooting for 8 miles, but only because I feel i need to make up for missing so many days. We'll see, if Artic Monkey's, Postal Service, and Korn, can get me going and out of the slums! |

You know, I did mention that, and yesterday I wanted to find stuff, but didn't even feel ike searching around for some. I really like indie music, and house, and rock, but it's been hard trying to find stuff that isn't so pop music like. I'm thinking I'll try to stick it out with some older stuff I've downloaded which is technically new. Like Vampire Weekend, the new Cold PLay, but whatelse is there? I'm stuck....sort of...I've been finding myself listening to even more depressing music like deftones, and A perfect Circle, and although it keeps me in the mood it matches it so well, ugh...... |

What I have tried in the past and so far has worked everytime, is to boost the system with plenty of water of course, a multi-vitamin, and go out immediately and purchase a box of EMERGEN-C!!!! It works wonders! IT boost your energy level and contains ascorbates that you cannot get from taking regular vitamin c tablets. Although I still try to get some bioflavanoids, from the fruit or those huge tabs from GNC. Also drinking a good detox tea is helpful. When you start getting the cold syptoms of sneezing, stuffyness, runny nose, you are technically already getting over it. So there really isn't too much you cna do, but try and get rid of the after symptoms. I don't like to take OTC drugs, because all they do is weaken the bodies natural defenses and make you lathargic which doesn't help you at all, if you still need to go to work. I worked around a lot of children and the bug was spreading like crazy, but I was only sick for a day! Try it, and so far in a year I still haven't had the cold, even though my kids, and fiance have. |

Well, if I were running alone I wouldn't mind the rain. But when running outdoors, I have to take my twins with me and the puppy. So I end up working harder obviously because pushing a double jogging stroller uphill and having it drag you down hill is tough, plus my pup can't last more than a mile without wanting me to put her in the basket. I have a canopy on the jogger, but I don't think it will keep my children dry and I don't want to sucept them to getting sick. So now what else? |

You know this is going to be with you, and yeah the surgery does take it away but man! What a groteque scar! What looks better, a old lady belly on a hot new tones body, or a huge halloween looking scar? That you could never wear with low rise bikinis or new beach wear. I've had two cesareans too, and the second one was with twins, so my belly was WAY stretched out!!!! When I lost the weight, it felt fat still because the extra skin had pockets, and although, my ribs were evident, i still had this fugly pooch and it sticks out if I dont keep my abs tight, which can be hard because of muscle weakness after children. But I thought about getting it one day, because I might actually plan to have another child in a few years, and then tie my tubes, and if my belly looks worse, then i might try something, or live with it. I haven't exposed it in many many many years, and my fiance still prefers me to be nude when we make love, and that's comforting, because before I used to cover it up you know? Love you the way you are and others will love you for being you and accept that and respect it. It's a hard battle and I must say I'm still dealing, but I rather buy a new car, than invest in a new scar. The only scar I can say I've worn proudly is my slightly faded and hardly noticeable c-sections bikini line scars. |

Wow, I wish I had that sort of problem. I unfortunately can't keep my boobs from being the first ones to go! I always look for that TOM to get the extra plumpness from water retention from all the hormones, but it all goes away after I continue my exercise regime. I do know that when I incorporate more upper body resistance weights and workouts, I tend to have a better chance of giving my chest the appearance of plumpness because of the building of the muscle behind the fat ( the pectoralis major/minors). This only helps a wee bit and it depends on genetics and body composition. Some women have tiny tiny little bodies, and big gazoonkas! But others may have a plumper curvacious body and ity bitty titties. It all depends on family genetics I believe and they really isn't a way to completely change it, unless you opt for the knife! |

yes, i've noticed that NASM seems to be more on the technical side, as far as kinesiology and anatomy. That also makes me more interested because that is my background. But the NFPT, seems to have more on the basics, and client stuff, but they make it seems so much more of a better bargain because of the continuing education fees are cheaper. They seem to also have WAY more testing sites, and such in the country. Does this make it more reputable? |

| Foods | soft whole wraps with 13g of fiber!!!! | Aug 17 2008 21:40 (UTC) |

I tried the La Tortilla factory after I read a post on here, I liked them at first, but was using them in place of a spanish receipe, so I didn't really get the full flavor of the wrap because of all the spices and sabor! But when tried alone, they were not appettizing, kind of like the Flat-Out wraps. My favorite thhus far, has been hands down...Josephs lavash Breads, and wraps. HTey have big rectangle big ones, for wraps or pizza (i make thin crust pizza with them), the whome thing is 100 calories! Then they have these small pita like ones, that are great as a fluffly tortilla, roti, naan, or pita bread for tuna salad, They are great, and the ones withthe omega-3 and flax seed are good too, they aren't exspensive at all, and with 60 calories per pita, you can't bea tthat, plus the protein and fiber content is high too! Try those out! I got them from a wla-mart not too far form my house, but the other wal-marts dont carry them, so you may have to look around. |

| Fitness | why are my arms getting weaker? | Aug 13 2008 19:42 (UTC) |

Well, I think it definitely has to do with the weight loss. you will lose muscle when losing weight, and you'd lose significantly more muscle if you dont eat properly according to your workout demands. I experienced less strength in my upper arms, when I began runner more, and lifting less. Almost weaker than before I lifted at all! I was not getting a lot of protein though. You need at least 1g per pound of body weight. and if you are seriously cutting down for definition 1g per pound of lean body mass. It's safe to stick with more, but they must be lean meats, tuna does wonders if you are behind in protein for the day, or even supplement with a low carb protein powder, add fiber, fruit and milk to it and you can easily add 30g of protein! Protein is very important, and many people believe they are getting enough, but sometimes, oyu may need more. I'd say go back to your heavy wieght routine, and do fewer reps, and just add more sets, until you can get back up again. |

Well, I was in your position and kind of still am. I have runner's knee, and was told that it is best to rest it, or refrain from hills, and tough run's. Hard for me becaus eI dont feel ike I'm getting a good workout in if I'm not doing at minimum 5-7 miles! But I took it down to only running three times a week, so I had a day or two in between to rest. also, I use heat compress before I work out, so that the muscle, tendon, ligament, whichever is your concern, is relaxed and warmed throughout, also it helps to dull the aches. Then once I'm done with my workout I ice it and be sure to stretch ultimately well! Your injury doesn't ring any bells to me, especially for it only being that it happened in a day. It could be you just planted your foot wrong and tweaked a tiny tendon in your foot. You didn't mention if there was sweeling, heat in the area, hematoma, or anything. Sometimes, HEEL SPURS, can cause shooting pain, but it's really uncertain of what you have. You can look online at runner's world, or go to a physical therapy clinic to have to further examined. You could probably find a place that will give you a free consultation, and then take it from there. On the nutrition side, I went into more of a maintenance mode when I cut my mileage in half. I tried to eat minimum daily requirement when I didn't workout, and when I did, I just upped my proteins, and lowered my fats, and got plenty of grainy carbs. My wieght didn't drop significantly, but I didn't gain at all. |

yeah, I browsed through that one too recently because I had a "black toe" otherwise known as "runners toe". and a little bit of pain in my upper shin area. I had been running for years, but haven't ran competively since 2001, and just recently picked it up again, only running longer distances. It was very hard at firs,t but I built up my endurance, and then my speed, and began making weekly mile total goals. LIke if I ran 4 times a week, I'd try to make at least 17 miles a week as a total goal, or something to the sort. I was running a lot! I lvoed the feeling, and was really finding the motivation in the sense that it was really shedding the pounds and making my legs look awesome! I contiued, but got really fatigued, during a short break around the time my grandfather visited. I was going to take it easy, but I was so exhausted! Super tired, and wanted to nap a lot, and kept yawing. We were eating out regularly and I probably only exercise a total of 3 times that week, which is low fo rme. When I went back to my normal routine, I couldn't rock it as hard! I struggled to maintain my pace, and wanted to do interval training more since I was allowed a walking break every so often instead of running non-stop. I was lazy, unmotivated, and lacked the jazz! I've been takin git easy since the last two weeks, and my weight is slowing up, but i'm trying to get back up there again, just slower this time. I'm trying ot run 3 times a week, and XT three times, and then a full day of rest in the mix. |

that's hella aesome! I started running more back in April and could barely get a two mile run in without stopping and now I'm up to 7 mile intervals or a 5mile run without stopping!!! It feels great to have come so far with deligent training and hard work! I was a sprinter when I was a teenager and trained exstensively in short and mid distance sprints, and struggled so much when I tried out for cross country only 2.5 miles! But look at me now! Running feels great, and I know I need to get used to getting outdoors and off the tredmill, but so far this is a great workout for me, and I love the results of running longer distances! I only have 4 more pounds to go until my goal of 125. But I'm also hoping to join my first 5K run this fall, and possibly throw in a 10K too! Congrats, and good lluck! Keep me posted on your progress! It be great to trade some tips with each other! |

| Fitness | running routine for only 30 min/day - Should I be running for more than 30 min? | Jul 18 2008 13:40 (UTC) |
6 |
Well, as a beginner you should definietly take it slow and steady, and adjust according to your athletic ability. I recommend www.runnersworld.com because they have routines for women and men, and begginers on up to expert marathoners! You can input your times, and/or pace, and configure a program that will span from 2-14 weeks, and according to difficulty. I love the tools on the site! As for running 30mins. Is this because that' sall you have? or you want to start out at 30mins? When I started back runnning I couldn't run for 30mins straight, but I had to acclimate myself to longer periods. I've found that running longer than 30mins is really when you start to benifit and see results. Anything that's barely 30mins, is more for cardiovascular health, but increasing that time will aid better. If you only truely have 30mins, then you can try a high intensity routine. Like intervals, using sprinting techniques and brisk walk, or jogs in between. I do these a lot but I still go for a longer duration of exercise. I like to burn more calories! At least at a higher intensity you will burn more in 30 minutes, than you would joggin in 30mins, but if you are just starting out, then jogging for you at 30 mins could be a great workout! I guess I can only recommend you check out the site, and if you can't do more than 30mins, just adjust it so you can, remember you need about 10 minutes of warm up and cooldown, not including the 30mins, so keep that in mind. |

Well I'm sure you will get some responses that suggest Mirilax, but dont waste your money. Mirilax is more of a stoll softner as told to me by a pharmacist and they suggested Colace which is saline based. But I preferred to stick to my asian store bought "slimming teas". You can also find similar version in Whole Foods, called "Super Slimming Tea" by triple leaf. or at your nearest grocery store, ie Kroger. They have "Smooth Move" by Traditional medicinals. The ones I like the most form the asian store at the "Extra Strength Three ballerinas" in cinnamon, or the"Tru-Slim". The base of all of these teas are Senna which is an herbal laxative, and some others may have White Marllow and papaya enzyme. both aid in digestion. I like the Triple Leaf brand for it's lighter puporses. It' snot as strong as the asian store bought ones, but it taste better and has other hebs in it that will help with the process and not cause much bloating and gas like some of the other brands can do. Good luck. |

Well, if I'm doing long runs I like something in the beginning to warm up to, like Coldplay's new album, or some Bjork. Then a little bit of Dieselboy or some other type of techno/drum/bass. Then I also like the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, black Eye Peas, N.E.R.D, and anything with funky lyrics to keep me pumped! I recently downloaded Vampire Weekend and listened to it for almost my whole workout yesterday, and the songs are still stuck in my head, good indie music! I also like Bloc Party, and Chevelle when I work out, sometimes a little Rage Against the Machine or Pantera can really pump me up too! But I have a long list of songs on my Zune! Everything from Phil Collins and SWV, to deftones, linkin park, and Tool! |

| Fitness | High intensity cardio workout vs. interval workout? | Jul 04 2008 20:26 (UTC) |

Well, on my elliptical I set the workout for basically 2 minute intervals from low resistance to high resistance. The switch up keeps your heart rate going good, and gives you a recovery period as well, and then hikes the hr back up again to pump it during higher resistance! I do thi son the tredmill too sometimes, with running and walking though. I'll run at 6.5mph, then walk at 4.2mph, and od that for about 40 min. I've played around a bit for different ways to add interval training or resistance, and i like the fact that i burn a bit more doing the intervals because your heart rate is normally working harder to adapt the changes rather than being a steady pace the whole way out. At least for me it works well and I find i enjoy the work out a bit more. Just play around with it a little to find which reisstance or speed, work for you, and you'd be surprised how many different routines you come up with! |

Thanks all for your suggestions. yeah, I think I will take a little bit from everyones post, and a) give it one more month to get used to. b) keep track of symptoms c) contact my doc to ask to switch back to yasmin if I'm not satisfied :) I didn't experience the great skin as much on Yasmin, though, the whole point in me switching was for a better complexion, but I guess now with me running more and drinking more water, my impurities are coming out and i'm not seeing much difference with that. I spotted a bit yesterday, and that would be a total of 5 days bleeding! That's a lot for me, I normally have spotting , then 3 regular days. Maybe next month everythings will catch up, otherwise I'm making that call! thanks guys! |

| Foods | Ethnic foods | Jun 30 2008 15:27 (UTC) |

Sometimes other sites have nutritional information that CC doesn't have. ESPECIALLY when it comes to ethnic foods! I love Indian and Middle Eastern dishes because I'm of Morroccan decent I incorporate a lot of spices and starchy things in my diet too, I've lloked up a few on www.thedailyplate.com I also use things like chicken chorizo instead of pork for my central american flare dishes, and can find that on here, in a Hans brands which is carried at whole foods so it's a universal type health brand. Also sometimes if you look up the food in the other databs, the daily plate, it'll pop up in the restaurant or an anonymous add. Like the other night I had PF changs, well CC doesn't have PF changs, but 'Pei Wei' is of the same company, so those dishes are similar in caloric content. |

| Fitness | Incline running on a treadmill... | Jun 29 2008 16:19 (UTC) |

On days I'm running hills on my tredmill I set out for a warm up of 4mph, on a 3% incline, for aobut 2minutes, then hike it up to 15%, I can only hold this for a few minutes because it's so steep and I'm not very tall, so I have to lower the speed after a few minutes. To 3.8mph, still with the 15% incline. I can power walk this and sometimes I power walk at 4.5 after a long run of 4 miles since my legs are usually used to moving faster at that piont. I get a good stretch and I've also walke don my tredmill at 15% incline at 3mph with a 35 pound weight in my backpack. It is such a tough workout, and really kept my heart rate above 90%. I worked my ass off that day. It's kind of like hiking only in the comfort of your home! lol. But when i run on my tredmill I dont do more than a 1% incline because I run at 6 mph speed, and I try to be gentle on my knees. But you could try those workouts. They have really helped me to hit my weight goals at the end of the week! Also, invest in a heart rate monitor to find out what you are really burning, because I always burn more than the machine or CC would say according to my HRM. Good luck! |
