Congratulations on your progress. I am at that point too, and I don't want to spend a lot of money, just to do it again in the next few months. Last week I went through the clearance at Wal-Mart and found two pairs of jeans for $4.00 each. |

I like myself more now than I did when I weighed 120 lbs. I have a better outlook on life (physically, mentally, emotionally etc.) than I did a few years ago. I am trying to loose weight for health reason, but I also like the results I see in the mirror. My family history really stinks health wise, so I'm trying to redirect my health for the better the best I can. I know I don't have the "perfect" body, but I like what I see in the mirror. Again as the OP said, trying to improve what I have. Also, once I accepted me for who I am, it was much easier to change the things in my life needed to loose the weight. |

| Weight Loss | Chucking the measuring tape instead of the scales? | Jun 08 2009 00:26 (UTC) |

I measured myself when I started in April 2008, then I measured again in April 2009 (fell off the wagon for seven months). I did like the second measurements much better. Honestly though, I like the scale much better; it shows me the results of one or two pounds, whereas the measuring tape doesn't. |

My best friend has colitis and I've lost track of how many times she has called me crying, because somebody made a remark about her being anorexic. Her goal is to weigh 100 lbs, and by the time her son was six weeks old, she was back down to 96 lbs. She exercises to build muscle and hopefully gain a pound somewhere. My sister-in-law is anorexic, but can't see it. She doesn't exercise, she just doesn't eat what her body needs. So it's hard to know how to talk to someone who really needs help; especially when you don't know the details of their situation. Here are two people both under weight, but two very different reasons. One desperately trying to fix her weight, and the other one is making it worse but thinks she's making it better. I agree with talking to a counsellor at the school or gym who may be able to help her. |

As far as stop worrying about trying to conceive, I don't think it's possible. It's just something that you do, no matter how hard you try not to worry. I stopped taking the at home test, because It was too disappointing after awhile. For us it seemed that when we stopped trying to conceive that's when I got pragnant. We had just started looking into adoption when I got pragnant, we had been trying for two years. Good luck and I hope your wait is much shorter than ours was. |

When my husband and I were trying to get pragnant, I was up to a week late many times. Where as before trying, I was alway very regular. I came to the conclusion that my body just liked to mess with me. |

| Health & Support | I'm so tired all the time, may be depressed? | Apr 09 2009 02:16 (UTC) |

When i get tired like that, I have learned that I'm low on iron. I used to go to the doctor so many times and was always put on iron pills. Since then I've learned that when I fall asleep as soon as I sit down on or put my head down, I need to up my iron. Now I usually do it with food instead of the pills. I usually have asparagus in the house now. This helps me, I'm usually back to being "awake" in a couple days. |

When I got my first credit card, I used it to build up credit. I would fill my car up with gas then drive by the bank and pay it off (gas station and bank were across the street). I was in college at the time, so I wasn't sure what my finances would be at the end of the month. This way I was never late with my payment and built up good credit. |

My last period, my weight stayed the same. The week after, I lost 3 lbs. So I wouldn't say that it's pointless. I averaged 1.5 lbs per week, for the week of and the week after, that's the way I looked at it. |

I know what you mean. I drive school bus and one of my runs is Grade 7/8. As far as I'm concerned, these kids aren't completely human at this age. Punishments don't last, no matter what you do. Although, I have to say that I have a few very good kids, the silver lining I guess. |

I went and bought sexy top that is about 2 sizes too small for me. The goal is to wear it on our anniversary when my husband is taking me on a big night out. Right now the top is hanging in my living room so I see it every day. It's my "Itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny, yellow pok-a-dot bikini," from the yogurt commercial. Except it's red and it's not teeny weeny, but I look forward to wearing it. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | I'm a Stay At Home Mom...How do I stay sane? | Jun 08 2008 15:27 (UTC) |

I'm a stay at home mom of a 6 year old. What I do is get my son involved when I workout. When I use my stability ball - he used his beach ball, he does every thing I do and loves it. This way I'm teaching him that exercise is a part of every day life and we're spending time together at the same time. Other than balls and the eliptical, it doesn't cost me anything. Instead of bumbells we use cans of soup an other house hold items. This may not be as affective as a gym workout, but he loves this workout time and that's what counts to me. Hope this helps a bit. |

Original Post by amheffron: When I started I weighed 208 and am also 5'5". Other than driving school bus, I'm a stay-at-home-mom. So far I've lost 8 lbs (Since April 7/08). As far as cutting out all treats, I chose not to do that because I don't want to feel deprived. So I have a small treat of whatever I'm craving at the time (about 50-100 calories). This way I don't feel like I'm on a diet. I want this to be for good, and to me a "diet" sounds temporary. The exersice I get is my eliptical trainer and have just started a routine someone from CC suggested www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id+1305014 . I'm obviously not doing the whole thing as it's supposed to be, but I'm working on it. Good luck and stay with it, we're all doing this together. |

Congratulations on the success in losing that much weight. You should be proud of yourself for what you have achieved. When I told my mom that I was trying to loose weight, she didn't show much excitement for me. Also, I think some people feel that if your friend loses weight their personality might change along with their body image. I have a few friends that can talk to when I need to, but they are in the same boat as I am, so that makes it easier I think then the one who aren't in the same position. This is just from observing and listening to people and reading stories of them. I hope this helps a bit. Again, congratulations and way to go. |
