Hi Ladies!

I haven't posted on here in 14 months Embarassed - it's great to see the list lives on!

14 months on, I'm still around the same weight, and I'm looking to up my exercise between now and the holidays, going from maintenance to loss.

Anyway, just saying Hi, and that I look forward to being inspired by your successes!

i think a lot of people deny that losing weight or looking nice is hard work... to make it sound like when they look great it was effortless. It's like we're not supposed to admit that we're not naturally flawless to anyone, let alone our good friends.

Thing it IS hard for most people, probably your friends included.

Think about it...Do you tell everyone just how long it took to blow out your hair? each thing you gave up to lose two pounds? Or do you tell them it was easy too?

Take care of yourself. Be healthy! You and your friends aren't in a contest.

If it feels like you are, you're probably not the only one competing and downplaying how damn hard you're trying to fit some ideal.

I come out, and wow! Look at *this*! Lots of familiar names here - it looks like you've been quite effective at spreading the word around here!

I'm with Emily on this one. The more active you are, the less sore you'll feel.

If you're super sore, you could do some intervals and just get your muscles warm.

I am exactly the same way. Planning tends to save me, and when i find myself we few cals left, I plan my dinner very carefully. Admittedly, the hardest part is not eating that planned dinner too early!Maybe trying to keep busy will help?

I have an entry in my food log titled, "stupid tortillas" from a simlar discovery. I think we just learn as we go. Try not to be so hard on yourself. Now you know- fo next time.

Another thing I've found is that if I eat well at breakfast and avoid eating things that tend to lead to a derailment, the rest of the day gets easier, and saying no isn't as hard.  Thus the planning!

My gym's weight bench is 16" high and I did one set with a set 3kg dumbells and the second set with a set of 5kgs.

Balance was definitely easier than I expected, but I wasn't carrying tons of weight. and I took them relatively slowly (I do struggle to balance during the lunges  while holding 10 kg dbs).

Anyway, we'll see how hard I think it was tomorrow. I find that lower body workouts don't generally seem that hard until the next day, when much to my surprise, getting into and out my desk chair is painful.

I'm definitely under an 18" step, thus far, and I have no excuse, as I'm 5'10. Conveniently, I have step ups on my agenda for this evening and I plan to try using the weight bench, so I'll likely report back with my tales of pain tomorrow. I'm not sure what weight i'll use.

As for squats, my gym doesn't have a barbell setup. I know, it sucks, but at the same time, my little apartment complex gym has most stuff, and by the time I get there, it's dead empty so I can do the exercises within the timing suggested.  I've been doing the squats and the deadlifts with dumbells, and just being extra cautious about form. Anyway, I've been trying to do goblet squats (comparable exercise) with a single 25kg dumbell, and That's been fine, only I really struggle to hold the weight in my hands.

Congrats on your progress at the scale, Laura!

1 Order of Steak for Two, rare

plus.. Order of bacon,1 Order of Creamed spinach, potatoes, and a nice merlot.

Pecan pie w whipped cream

I know I probably wouldn't be able to eat it all, but I'd really relish trying!

Good thing, I can have this (in moderation) without a death sentence.

My copy is in the mail and I really hope it arrives today. Thank you all for your contagious enthusiasm!

I've been lifting on and off since the start of the year, often showing committment and working for about 2 months and then getting lazy and going to body pump.

The real push for me is having 34% body fat at 68 kilos with reduced bone density. It's something I'm determined to change; although, having seen no quanitfiable or visible result in other attempts has left me a bit defeated. I'm definitely stronger than I was when I started, but I can't say my % or my pants size has budged.

So, after doing BP for the last two months, I'm back to give it another go. While I realize I am likely a hard gainer, being an ectomorph, I'm hoping that if this book has helped so many people see results, that it will help me as well. I definitely ate enough in the past; although, I definitely eat (and back then, ate too much sugar). Mostly, I'm hoping the book will provide a very clear set of rules to follow. :)

Weight Loss Crutches=FAT!!! Sep 03 2008
18:15 (UTC)

I've had more sets of crutches in the past 5 years than I'd care to count.

I found that I generally maintained or lost while on crutches simply because getting around was such an expenditure of energy and obtaining and transporting food was a bit of a challenge.

That said, I was living in New York City and trekking to work most days. On the days I worked from home, my husband would take me out on a walk around the neighborhood, partly to get me out of the house and partly to let me feel like I was getting a bit of fresh air and exercise. 15 minutes or more of crutching about really does feel like quite a workout.

Unfortunately, the "crutching muscles" aren't highly coveted!

Hey girls!

Happy weigh in day! I've not had much change since I last posted, which was AGES ago.

I've had some computer trouble and I've had visitors for the last few weeks, so making time to just post my food into CC has been a bit of a challenge. Fortunately, I can do it from my blackberry.

My stream of guests ends Wednesday, and I plan to be back with you girls more often after that.

Congrats on all your losses!

Happy Weigh-in Day, Ladies!

I've not yet had a chance to catch up on posts, so this will be a quick one- I've been working a ton.

According to my scale, I'm up 2 kilos since last week to  69kg and my fat is down 2%. I've been taking creatine for the last 10 days, though, in order to work on my muscle building goals. Creatine causes water weight gain, so I'm pretty sure that explains the change in my stats. I'm thinking next week's weight in will be a bit more telling.

In other news, I started riding my bike to work this week! I've done it two times so far. The extra 100 minutes a day of activity HAS to be good for me! I'm hoping to do it 3x a week.

Good luck everyone! I'm looking forward to enjoying your posts over the weekend!

I can't think of a single delivery menu that included caloric content, and I lived off NYC takeout menus for 13 years.

I lived off of a lot of take out sushi. You've got a ton of sushi restaurants right near you, esp over near 9th & 2nd.

Definitely Silver Spurs and Otto are be avoided if you're trying to eat light!

Eva's is pretty good:

Also, Dojo isn't bad for an inexpensive, healthy meal. There's one on Mercer & W 4th and one on St. Marks.

Morning Ladies!

Friday, already? Yay!

So, I'm down 0.8kg from last week, but I was also on medicine that makes you retain water back then. If I compare my weight today to my weight a few weeks ago before the medication and bloating, i'm down 0.2kg (0.44 lbs). My body fat is still sitting around 33-34%, so no real change there. I got in a few good weights sessions this week, though, and I'm feeling pretty good about things.

Good luck to everyone!

Beth- You'll just have to come visit! Why were you in PNG?

cvob- Where in HI are you going?

Carol- The big day is almost here, and you're nearly at goal! I find it easier to stay on track when my social life is quieter too, but think of all the good habits you're picking up for later, like not putting that Snickers in your cart. My fingers are crossed for Saturday- have a wonderful birthday!

Kim- Congrats on finishing your paper. I used to always snack a lot writing papers, which is so awful for you! Looking forward to weigh in?

Meg- You are a badass.

Danielle- All that running has to go somewhere, maybe tomorrow's weigh in won't be so bad! Worst case, you'll have a great weigh in next week!

Exactly! Watch us shrink!

I think the way you would set a picture or group of pictures to not be available to the public is to put it in a gallery that isn't labelled public.

I'm going to give this another go tonight with the other camera, as I still haven't found the cable for mine. I'll confirm the directions to post nonpublic photos after I manage to successfully do it.

I'm definitely ready to show my pudge to a selected audience, but maybe not the whole site. This may be because I look a bit ridiculous - I mean often do we stand in our most unflattering clothes in a most unflattering pose and take our own pictures?

I"m not familiar with this site (http://www.mvm.com), but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Have a great day, all!

carolally: Definitely focus on all the good exercise and food choosing you're doing! I also weigh in nearly every day, unless I know it's just going to be awful and mess with my head. Weighing in every day means I'm never especially surprised by my weight, because if I suddenly gain 5 pounds overnight, I can look back on my choices and comfortably say that there's no way I ate 15,000 calories the day before.

xxwhitxx: Congrats on your loss!

k110465: I don't think there are any real rules. When I have time to post regularly, I often will try to answer everyone's, but when I haven't posted in a few days, that's really impractical! The original post is pretty old now, so it might be easier to just respond to the more recent ones.  I hope you're feeling better!

dplatzer: Hey Danielle- I'm glad the wedding was fun! You're right, There IS no way you ate that much. I'm guessing that all the running around you did in Fl might have been enough- I rarely gain on holiday because I'm so much more active on a holiday than I am at my desk job.

Not much is new with me. I'm sore from my back workout yesterday, so I did just legs today. I expect I'll be moving a little slowly in the morning! If I'm not, I might try for my first cardio since I got the cold from hell.

My husband got back from Rome today bearing lots of treats. He knows I have a sweet tooth and he loves to indulge it.  I used to ask him not to bring this stuff home, but he inevitably does because he knows I love it. Now, I must be strong and resist  temptation! Surprisingly, I have gotten better with practice. but it is always hard!

Look at all you brave girls!

I haven't posted mine yet- I still haven't found my camera cable. Granted, given that I threw on the first swimsuit I could find (a Speedo), it's a pretty forgiving picture.

It looks like you can opt to only share your photos with a select audience, which makes braving the task a lot easier!

Do you guys just use the timer on your cameras? I used mine that way, and it took a bit of propping.

Anyway, I really ask because I'm imagining the exchange between my husband and I if I were to ask him to take it for me.

Me: Sweetheart, can you take my picture?

Him: Like that?

Me: Yes.

Him: Why?

Me: So I can post it on the internet....

heheheh.

k110465: Feel better! I've been sick too, and it sucks! I wish I had been eating only popsicles!

carolally: I'm with you! While yesterday was a lovely day in London, it was the first we've had in a while! I actually like the weather here, but I could really go for a nice, hot, day at the beach.... even more so when I reach my goal! OK, I took photos, and they actually weren't as bad as I thought they'd be. The one from the front was actually kind of ok... the one from the back... well, less so! :)

This might be because the cellulite didn't really show up like it does in brightly lit shop changing rooms! My big goal isn't so much to lose size as it is to lose fat- mine's around 32%. I'm not sure my photos show all my sins, but I think I'll just enjoy that!

I will be brave and post them. I just have to find the cable for my camera, which I'll do after my work out.
