| Weight Loss | Hit A Plateau | Sep 16 2009 12:25 (UTC) |
1 |
i dunno abt detox and all that jazz. but i've been on a plateau for a few weeks. (really annoying b/c i've been busting my butt working out harder just to see a difference) so this week i decided to keep my workouts the same and eat the same # of cals. but instead of what i did before, i'm eating the majority of my food early in the morning (right after working out) and then less for lunch and dinner. that way i'm not eating too close to bed time and i can have the whole day to metabolize my food (also i have a longer night time fast before my morning weigh-in). i also tried to put more fruit and veggies and protien (in the form of egg whites) in my diet so that i eat a whole lot less carbs and starchy crud. these last couple days i've started to lose again. so i can't say if it's a great permanent fix, but it's the first downward slide (even if only a few days worth) i've had in weeks. hope that helps

i worked in a gym for over 2 years. i've heard it all. grunts, groans, hisses, screams, people belting out diana ross while dancing on the tredmill. it's not always guys either. just people being people w/ all the weird little quirks they've developed. lol it's just free entertainment in my book. |

i have the same problem. i drink less beer and more wine. but more RED wine to be specific b/c white wine has more sugar and that's a no good either. amen misscherryjane! i drink vodka/gin (low cal booze) w/ low cal mixers. i prefer a sugar free redbull / diet soda. |

| Fitness | Why are women so terrified of bulking up? | Jul 02 2009 08:38 (UTC) |
9 |
the average woman wants to be what society regards as beautiful or sexy. in america that is lean, toned, thin... big boobs. lol. so typically it is not a bulky chick (in my mind the word butch pops up) if men stopped finding that type of woman sexier than an muscular chick, then most women would lift more weights. so don't act all confused as to how this behavior is motivated. there is a reason why MEGAN FOX is maxims hottest woman and not SERINA WILLIAMS. i hate people saying women just prefer to be weak. forget you. i'm in the military and i didn't need to have a body builder physique to make it. >:-P |

well, i'm not really worried about getting caught slacking at work. i'm currently deployed w/ the military so i'm stuck here whether they want me or not... and whether i want to be here or not. ha. i have a desk job here and i'm really just trying to entertain myself until it's time to go back home to my REAL life. facebook is definitely one of the things that helps me get through the boring days here. |

(sparkling wine *cheap man's champagne* is my all time FAVORITE!) |

i feel your pain completely. not only do i love love love carbs, but i am surrounded by them 24/7. my current living situtation is a limited choice caffeteria, a shopette that has 'gas station' type snack food, or the few fast food stands (taco bell/ burger king/ ect). not to mention i do not like most seafood, pork, beef products. so when i obstain from fast food, carbs, and most meats... there's little left to eat. :-( |

| Weight Loss | Do you buy clothes too big or too small? | Mar 20 2009 06:36 (UTC) |
1 |
i would say i buy clothes that are a bit too small. b/c i am larger in the chest, if i get something that fits my chest it hangs baggy over my mid section and makes it look as though i balloon out from my chest down. that is not the case. so i try to buy clothes that fit my midsection/torso appropriately to show that it's not a mass of flab, but then of course, that means the chest area is too small and it looks as though the twins are trying to bust out. i buy a size to fit my boobs and the cutest shirt looks like a potato sack. conversely, i buy a size to fit my torso and the most conservative top looks just a bit scandelous. i must just not have the body for normal clothes. |

i'm so glad people are really posting on here. i am only able to post during America's "sleeping hours" b/c of the time difference, but it's nice to read all the motivation you guys put out during the day here. :-D good news: got weighed yesterday and i was 5 lbs lighter than i thought i was. still not my goal, but i'm THAT much closer to it! fcgoddess23 i am apart from my man too. not korea, but kuwait. still it is kinda sad. I too have a thing with all the women in my family being heavy. i was always the small one, until i turned 22. i don't know what happened but the weight came on and wont leave! my mom and sister both recently found out they had some issue w/ their thyroid and have been put on meds for it; as a result, they've shed pounds like no one's business and i've been left as the out of shape on. shesh. so if it is motivation and support that wont back out after a few days, count me in! smashleymae i have a soda craving problem too. i've had to ween myself off of harmful energy drinks and try to limit my soda intake (i still need a dr. pepper to start off my day or i am a monster!). my man is also always saying that i look wonderful and don't need to change, but the bmi doesn't lie. and you're right, it isn't so much in how people see you, but how you feel about youself. oh, and i used the wii fit for the first time last night and agree it is kind of lonely, but at least it's better than nothing. keep up the good work! militarywife09 i too have a mid june goal! i don't mind not being to my ultimate goal weight by then. but my R&R leave is in june and i want to be able to go out in the summer sun w/ just a bathing suit on and NOT feel like i should be hiding under my beach towel. what branch of service is your husband in? i'm in the army national guard, on my first deployement.

MRE! meal-ready to-eat. they are packed w/ cals (one meal has many components that add up to 2500cals total) that give you energy and are tastey and portable. i lived off them while training. you can pick them up @ most army surplus stores. :-D |

i've been told the darker your pee the more water you need to drink. I'm in the military and we actually have color charts in the bathroom stalls to help you check your hydration levels... yes it's gross and no i am not joking. ha. but i'll say, even though i may be completely and totally hydrated, if i am taking supplements or vitamins, it is always darker/yellower. |

i think the best way to burn everything asap is intense cardio as much as you can handle. i dropped 35 lbs in less than 2 months all from drinking tons of water and running like mad. of course, that's not really the case for me now a days, and it takes some time to work up to being able to do intense (rather than moderate) cardio. but my answer is cardio, cardio, cardio. :-D |

| Weight Loss | Diet Soda | Mar 15 2009 06:15 (UTC) |

i too am super addicted to soda, sugar free redbull and any coffee product! the only thing (as far as subsitutes) that satisfies me when i am mad for a sugary drink is orange juice or pinapple juice. something super sweet and super tart. i've cut myself off soda and such from time to time and notice that, while my skin/complexion is way better, i still have cravings for it. however, the more water i drink the more i crave water. and that freshly hydrated feeling i get from drinking mass quantities of water is alot better the dehydrated & slugish feeling i get after drinking alot of soda. |

heya erica, i've got kinda the same stats. i'm 5'3" (small frame), female, 22yrs., HW:156 (2 months ago), LW:117 (i was mostly muscle tho), CW:139-137, GW:115 i picked 115 b/c i was 120ish about 1 1/2 years ago and still had flabish thighs and belly. i think the 5 lbs would change that. because you're younger than me, i dunno if it'd be okay for you to go much lower than 115... but since i'm an old maid, i def wont want to go under 115. haha. best of luck getting down there. keep up your determination. :-D |

so i've decided that the thing that is going to help most losing this 20 is exercise. (i've already been dieting for months.. so that'd just be the same old routine) if there are any busy ladies like myself out there looking for an easy way to squeeze in some work out time... i have found something. over my lunch break recently, i've been going on utube and searching workout/pilates videos. there's a ton of them and most are only 10 minute blurbs. it's fast, simple (because i can do it in my office before my lunch break is over), and it sure does make me sweat.... or at least get outta breath & my muscles burn. just thought i'd throw that out there for anyone in the challange looking for a way to squeeze some work out time in there. :-) |
