Morri - It doesn't sound too gross.  But I don't have a blender so it's not a real option.  I am thinking or make some curry with tons of veggies so they're almost mushy so I can eat them.  But gerber does have meats and vegetables which are my real main ways to get them at the moment.

Tech- Yes, that is the most important thing at the moment, not the diet.  But I am trying to eat right with the little things I can eat since getting vitamns and minerals should help me heal quicker.  I wish I could eat more but the texture of all my food sometimes upsets my stomach.

Karen- I'm glad this is a one time thing.  I could not do this again.  I had the holes dressed because of all the pain, but it seemed to make it worse so oral surgeon removed it.  I use milk with my protein shake for the extra calories and try not to worry too much about my protein/carbs/fat ratio since I just want to get something in.  But yeah, sometimes being condemned to bed keeps me from getting enough a day.

So I'm now down to 173... I wonder if I eat normal again will I bloat up or just level out.  Not too sure.

My sodium is low on CC, but it has to be high since I'm garling with salt water after every meal, and before and after bed.  My tongue seems a bit irritated from all the salt.  And somehow it still always feels like there's something trapped in the holes...

But I'm quite happy.  I started in April, and now I have lost 17lbs by tracking with CC.  April being 9, May being 5, and now late June being 3.  Of course I'd like to lose a bit faster, but this month and most of May have not been good days as far as getting to the gym.  My god, my health keeps screwing me over.  But I'm happy to be almost 170 again.  I believe 165 --170 is where I was when I first moved to California is 2006.  Hopefully, by the end of the year I'll be back to 140 like I was when I graduated high school.

Hi Pikubiku!  Welcome!  I've always wondered when you become an English teacher in Japan, do you need to know a little Japanese, or is everyone accommodating to you?

Oh gosh, it's been a week and my face hurts!  Still!  I went back and there's no infection, but my mouth barely opens and my nerves still haven't healed all the way.  Yet it still hurts, and so does my ear and part of my throat.  I'm tempted to go to the regular doctor to check out if there's an infection elsewhere.  But still, chewing's hard so in baby food and mash potatoes, I'm only getting 800 a day.  Ugh.  I don't want to eat baby food anymore but what can you do...

>.>

I did get down to 174lbs.  Depending on how long this takes, I might go down another 3 pounds.  But I miss eating.

I random question.  I know I can't eat my usual 1200+ a day calories for the next week or so.  I'm stuck sipping baby food, clear broth, and mashed potatoes until my mouth heals up and it doesn't hurt to live.  I think at the most, it's going to be 1000 - 800 (baby food is only 70 calories a bottom and it hurts to eat even it).  And getting water in seems to be a struggle.

How bad do you think my metabolism will slow down?  I noticed I gained tons of waterweight in the last day.  I'm up to 181lbs this morning which made the day worse than it was.  Mouth hurts, chest hurts (allergic to the glue on the pads that monitor heart rate), legs hurt cause cat is trying to eat them, and tons of extra pounds.

I wish I made more money.  That way, I could afford to keep the kitchen full of food so I wouldn't be tempted to go buy something from the outside.  I had pita bread, hummus, 1 spanokipita, half a falafel patty, and green curry with brown rice.  It's not horrible, but it's not the greatest thing.  I'm sure the curry puts me over in sodium.

If anyone's looking for movie, I recommend "Lars and the REAL Doll."  It was so touching.  My boyfriend even cried, which is amazing since he's usually a heartless jerk.  But it was a really good movie.

I'm not having hot weather either Wendy.  It's been in the 80s for awhile.  Before that, it was in the 70s and windy.

Oh sad day.  I gained two pounds... now I'm at 178, maybe.  But also, I can no longer eat any type of fast food.  I had the urge for a Whopper and ordered one with mayo, no cheese, extra lettuce, and jalopenos...but they put cheese and mayo on it.  So I just at the meat with some wheat toast...but I didn't digest.  Just sit there till this morning.  It came out pretty solid.  Considering, I lost the urge for junk food.  Didn't want the fries.  Don't want the pizza we're having tomorrow.  Don't want the food that's going to be served at the wedding.  Then again, this might be a side effect of my stomach feeling so ill.

Either way, I'm happy.  In the middle of eating my meat patty, I didn't want it and threw it away without a problem.  I guess this is an end of an era for me.

You can either try to make your best friend see the error of her ways by trying to get her to be active by losing weight, or you can say screw that and continue on by yourself and become too small that she secretly hates you.

My best friend wanted to lose weight, so I introduced her to this site, got her a scale (apparently cause she wanted the workout tape that was with it), and told her everything she needed to do.  She didn't listen (cause she doesn't buy the food in her house, or cook), and gets upset that I lose faster than her.  But she's now wise to if she eats a burger, it's more calories than she should have in a day.  (The Jack in the box burgers she likes is over 1000 calories I believe.)

But Like Mariyumm said, you have to look out for you.  What's best for you.  You know those are bad choices, so don't do it.  She wants McD's, let her and you grab something from Subway and eat together.  Don't let her bring you down.  Regardless of how great of a friend she is, this change is for you.

Original Post by mjbilly:

Hi everyone, just got back from riding bike~ and planting some flowers. I was just wondering what everyone does or eats to help them loose weight? I need some help and I want to learn from you all here. Thanks

Hehe, I did the extreme thing when I decided I was going on a new body quest.  I threw out all the junk food, all the frozen pizzas or other things, and said goodbye to sodas.  I brought only lean meats (fish, chicken, and sometimes turkey), and one small thing of beef to eat once a week like a treat.  Rice was replaced with brown rice.  Pasta was replaced with wheat pasta.  I brought a gallon jug for water and make sure I finish that along with liter bottle I keep at work.  Being hydrated makes you at the least drop water weight.  I think I lost four pounds the first week because of that.

When logging things, if you're making them from scratch, use the New Recipe and then log it that way.  If you're adding the seasonings and oils you used to make the food, it should be more accurate than use going and logging chicken breast.

Are you always biking and gardening or is that something different?  You should find out your BMR.  If you're that active, you might not be eating enough or too much.  Everyone here recommends that you eat 500 less than what you would burn if you're an inactive person.  If you're really active, then have 500 less than what you burn in a day so that you lose a pound a week.  (3500 calorie deficiency = 1 pound lost)

I'm still fairly new around here, so if you have any questions, you should look towards one of the vets here.  Everyone is really friendly since we're all here to support each other.

My mouth hurts!  All the top back teeth have been drilled.  And the bottoms need work too.  But I'm suppose to have my wisdom teeth pulled soon too.  So much oral pain!

And there's no donuts in my house anymore.  Just italian ice and popiscles.  My mouth appreciates it right now.  But in preparation (cause I knew it would be bad), I ate nothing but protein for breakfast.  Now I just need to figure how to get 500 calories in me without chewing.  Ugh.

Wendy, Chick-fil-a is like a chicken only burger stop?  They have nice salads (cause I love their berry vingarrette), chicken wraps, fruit salads...and grilled chicken burgers.  So it's healthier than my other fast chicken alternatives where it's fried and never grilled.  My bf loves their caramel coffee shake...but those are his two favorite things.

How does muscle weigh more than fat I am just curious? Isn't a 100 pounds of feathers the same as a 100 pounds of bricks? I mean they are both a 100 pounds so, 100 pounds of muscle would weigh the same as 100 pounds of fat? Although they would have a very different look in composition on the body. No? Yes? I am confused. Also, I know with being a woman as long as I have a deficient while working out (lifting) that I will not bulk up and that the protein will help build muscle which does burn calories after you work out. Which in theory means, gain muscle lose fat but you have to "feed" the growing muscle. So yeah definitely need the extra protein! Smile I dunno if that makes sense to anyone but me, but I got some nice pipes going on over here finally! I'm so excited! Laughing

100lbs of fat and 100lbs of muscle weight the same...100lbs.  The way it looks are completely different.  Muscle is dense, so a little bit of muscle weights.  So someone lean looks thinner thans someone with more fat cells.

Chocolate frosted donut.  Yummy.  I blame birthday cake for wanting me to crave sugars again, but it all disappears again.  I'm not buying anymore junk!   (Other than my vitamn C popiscles.  48cal, 12 sugars)  To be honest, I think there's been about 36 of them in the house (medium size), and in all, I've had 3.  The other 33 seem to have been inhaled by Ryan.  It's amazing the rate he can eat.  But then again, I'm half his size so it's to be expected he should eat double.  (I checked out his burn meter and it's at 3400...)

I need to get back into eating through.  All this soup seems to leave me without the urge to eat regular foods...  My protein's way too low.  And I'm sure all that work to cut my salt is gone down the drain.  Darn numbed tastebuds.

I noticed all the fruits I like are crazy with sugar...red grapes, cherries, bananas, pineapples...

I've been craving donuts for so long, so I went and got some.  Gosh, donuts are so bad for you.  I would have been better off getting cake.

But I'm still at 176...maybe?  Last week I had an incident and my scale might not be accurate anymore.  My analog says 170lbs so maybe 175/176.

I weigh 175 - 177 (The scale hasn't been the same since last week when I fell on it.  I might need a new battery.)  I need to lose 40+lbs for a healthy BMI.  But I'm 5'1, 23yrs old, and have a large body frame.  Sometimes I wonder if 140lbs would really look that bad.

I'm currently severely obese and will make it to obese if I lose 10lbs.  But it is better than January when I was over 200lbs (only had the analog scale and it said 198lbs but the analog says 10 less than the digital. )

Hehe, when I didn't watch what I ate, I only got 20g of protein a day (unless I ate a burger or something with a bit more).

The Whey Protein taste great with milk (I can't stand Vanilla).  Also, there's ways to get more protein in your diet...cheese, fish & chicken, beans, yogurt, Luna protein bars (they're yummy).  I noticed that beforehand, I would only eat meat at dinner.  Now, I make sure I get something with protein in ever meal.  It makes it easier to get more in a day.

I believe you can still do it!

Complete overhauls of your lifestyle do take time, and doing it overnight does sound good but it leads to falling off sometimes.  I know this very well.  But, you just have to pick yourself back up and start again.  Small changes work the best, and the small things you can give up/substitute lead to the bigger changes.

In these last two months I've been on CC, I've lost 14lbs now.  It's not where I wanted to be, in fact, I wanted to be more active and try to lose about 2lbs every week.  It didn't happen, but I make sure I don't give up.  Excerising doesn't interest me, burgers and pizza still interest me (but I can't eat as much as before), and I'm sure if I brought ice cream and cake into the house I'd eat myself sick.  Just stay clear of temptation, and maybe get a buddy.  It's easier to say "No" to something when someone's telling you not to do it as well.

I agree with some of the other posters here.  It might be water retention due to all the sodium in soda.  Try drinking more water to even out as well as cutting back on salt in other places to compensate?

If you're not going over your calories or indulging in anything really sugary as a side effect to diet soda, I think you'll be fine.

Moderation is key.

Moderation is key!  I always went for tuna we had stored when someone would make something I didn't dare to eat.  You always have the option of going to the store and buying you own snack like healthier foods and hiding them in your room if you have to.  My mother and aunt use to take my slim fast shakes and my dad has a problem with taking anything "all natural" of mine since it's suppose to be healthier.  My brother eats anything, so I had to make sure to tell him not to eat anything without my permission since he knows every hiding space.  Then again, your family might not be like mine.

The only negative effect I've had is family always trying to get me to "eat" something.  In the end, I might get "I'm proud you're sticking to your diet," but when we're ordering from a restaraunt and I want things from the kid's menu and maybe a side of broccoli, they're always looking at me weird.  Not to mention, my boyfriend and I seem to have different opinions how I should diet.

My breast haven't shrunk, unfortunately.  They feel like they're getting bigger, but it just might be because everything but them has lost inches.  My pants are falling off me but a belt can take care of it.  Besides, it's only 30lbs so it's not a so baggy I look funny.  And I have transition clothing since I still have the clothing when I was 10 - 20lbs lighter than now.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Mine was boring, I slept.

=p

But yesterday I got a bit frustrated.  My boyfriend made some remark that peeved.  We were watching tv and saw something where the guys on tv were gaining weight cause of the girlfriend's cooking.  And I asked him if he'd get upset at me if I did something like that.  He was like, "Well, haven't I gained 100 lbs being with you?"  I was like, No sirree!  You did that buy eating hamburgers and pizza everyday of the week.  So he pointed out that if he went on a diet now, he could lost more weight than I have in three months in a week.  (I've only changed eating habits for two months.)  So I agreed he probably could.  Men drop weight better than women, his metabolism is higher and tons of other things.  But he had the balls to say "but that doesn't matter casue you can't stick to your diet.  You're doing a horrible job."

What the hell?!  I buy only healthy so he complains.  I don't have ice cream, cookies, or fattening things around.  When I'm not feeling sick, I go to the gym.  I cook low sodium, low fat, high protein dinners now instead of carb filled ones.  I've lost 14 pounds in two months, which is actually a great safe way to go.  It really pissed me off!  He killed good mood on my birthday.

I hate skinny jeans.  I don't even like them on the too skinny girls they were made for.  I prefer something with a bit of a flare, but that's not in style.  Skinny jeans are.  They plague the stores.  "Boyfriend" jeans are okay if they're not falling off of you.

Meh, I'd go for something comfortable.

Oh goodness.  My body's been freaking out since Monday night.  I can't stop hitting the bathroom.  And the pain and the bloating.  I can't stand it.  The scale said 180lbs today, and I want to scream, but the bloating.  My stomach has never so hard and painful.  The medicine I took last night has slowed my dash to the restroom, but it just makes my cramping worse.

And so my activity level has gone down.  I was so active Saturday, Sunday, Monday, but Tuesday and Wednesday was too much stomach pains and today I want to go so bad tot he gym, but if I'm balled up in bed again when I go home, it doesn't help.

Before the craziness, I did finally get a crock pot and buy food for the house.  So now I need to buy storage bowls so I have lunch/snack this week for the soup I made yesterday while sleeping.  And now I should be able to make food food with it too.  I'm tired of restaruants, plus it's too expensive.

Yesterday, the scale was 177.5lbs.  I'm a bit surprised.  I did a great job on limiting food at home (no to super fried things, small servings of the huge amounts of foods offered, eating out limited to what looked like a serving size rather than what they gave me) but considering I haven't had at least 64oz of water till yesterday, I thought I would have retained alot more.  Everything they served was very salty (so much so I refused to at alot of things).

I wonder how much I'd weight if I didn't feel a bit bloated.  I'm exicted for the weekend for my first fully resting days.  But my goal for June doesn't seem like I'll get it.  I wanted to weight 170lbs by the second week of June, but I think I'll be a little off.  I am happy that I'm under 180lbs now.  I haven't worked out in a month now it seems.  I hope to hit the gym tonight and get back on track!
