Weight Loss Turbo Jam Results poll... May 07 2008

I've only been using TJ for a couple of weeks now and while the scales aren't registering much at the moment I have had so many compliments about how I look, and my clothes definitely feel better!!

I got mine from amazon as well. Only thing I would be careful about is getting it from beachbody.com (I stumbled across a website that was FULL of complaints - everybody loved the workouts but had terrible things to say about the customer service).

In terms of the workout though, I only have cardio party - the moves are tricky but I've got most of them now - so persevere. The presenter is enthusiastic and the whole thing is fun - I actually look forward to doing it Surprised and I work up a real sweat Smile

I got it from beachbody.com and didn't have too much of a problem with customer service (i only called once though).  I bought the maximum results package, which does a good job teaching the moves before you get right into cardio-party (good on you for figuring it out on the spot).  Plus there is the bonus of the 20 minute workouts which are easy to fit into any schedule.  Abjam ins great too, and Turbo Sculpt is gentle but effective.  I look forward to it too, and I have never liked exercising.

courtneyes,

I started the TJ program on April 1, and easily lost the 10 pounds I was looking to get rid of and 2 inches on my waist and hips.  I followed the diet plan pretty religiously the whole time, and now am just exercising for more tone, not weight loss.  I still find it fun and effective, and though I also have HipHop Abs for variety, and like that too, Turbo Jam feels like a more complete workout (ie. I can actually feel it working while I'm doing it).  Let us know how you do with it.

Good to know.  Thanks everyone.  Hopefully this head cold will be history soon.  Mostly I kind of miss the working out.  Never thought I would say that, but it's true. Laughing

It's never easy being the third wheel.  If she has been a good friend to you, you need to make some time for her separate from your boyfriend.  In my experience, friends generally last longer than boyfriends, so if you care about her, make the effort.

That said, if she is depressed and depressing to be around, she may need some outside help.  It is not up to you to fix her issues, but you might recommend she see a professional and start sorting out whatever is getting her down (weight, self-esteem, etc.).

Just my thoughts.  Good luck.

Thanks for the thoughts.  Ended up using tomatoes and broth and onions and a little pepper, and it didn't turn out too badly.  I more a salmon/trout gal myself, but I thought I would give sole a shot...

Well, I've had this same problem since Sunday, too.  Keep hydrated, eat plain rice (though I put a splash of olive oil on it), and try some Pepto Bismol or some such thing. Energy drinks are good too, and herbal teas.  My stomach thing has evolved into a head cold.  No food, no exercise this week.  So it goes.  I think you would know if it was your appendix.

Get well soon.

I just received HHA today, and it does seem like fun, once you get all the moves down.  Though it is immediately not true that there are no floor exercises!  I've been turbo jamming for a few weeks, which i think is great and fun and the results speak for themselves.  Have lost 2 inches on waist and hips, dropped 9 pounds following the diet and using this site.  Wanted HHA for variety.  So far doesn't feel as deep an ab workout as ab jam, but again, maybe this is due to my inexperience with it.

I'm about 5'8 and currently weigh 133 (down from 286). I'd really like to get down around 125 but I think I will be THRILLED as soon as I get under 130.

Wow, that's amazing!! Congratulations!! Are you buying a great summer wardrobe?

Aww thanks!! I would LOVE to buy a new wardrobe...but I am in law school and completely BROKE!! Everything I own is way too big for me. I did buy my first bikini (EVER!!!) earlier this month...I just have to get up the courage to wear it without still seeing myself as I used to look.

Bet you'll make an awesome lawyer with such determination!  Get at least on or two new things.  Go to thrift shops, vintage stores, warehouse outlets.  You really need to celebrate.  And wear the bikini around the house until you get used to it and your new image.

I'm about 5'8 and currently weigh about 126. I am really trying to get down to 112 by the middle of summer though!

That's really too thin for your height.  Why such an extreme goal?

thanks.....I know I have muscle underneath those pockets of fat....It just makes me looked so disproportioned on me because I am so skinny up top.

I'd say put a lot of focus on the problem area now, but stick with some sort of healthy diet.  It's amazing how much food even 1600 calories is if it's not junk.

I'm 5'8.5 and am aiming for 130.  I'm almost there now (2 more lbs), which is already quite fine.  I think even 135 is ok for our height.

Well done losing so much weight. You're actually at a healthy weight right now. 130lbs would be verging on underweight for someone 5'8".

How about trying to maintain your current weight and instead tone up with exercise?

I agree with gi-jane about the toning, but have to say at 5'8 and 132lb, I'm still plenty fleshy, not underweight at all.  It's still within the healthy range.

I'm your height and I was around your weight a couple  of months ago.  In the past couple of weeks I've been doing turbo jam and following it's suggested diet with some adjustments, and I'm already down to 132.

So basically, some cardio and some toning and some ab stuff.  I try to do at least 20 minutes on most days.  I'm shocked by how effective it is.  Especially the healthy diet.  I'm also about to try hiphop abs for the whole belly region.

Fitness Ab Jam and Neck Pain Apr 18 2008

The tennis ball sounds great.  I'll try that next time.  I injured my neck a few years ago (whiplash, sprain) and it's been sensitive ever since.  I think I get extra tense any time my neck seems to be involved in any exercise (this would happen in yoga too).

Thanks!

I second this with much enthusiasm.  Never thought I would be doing such a program or enjoying it, but I find myself looking forward to it.  Such good energy.  But does anyone know what kind of calories the 20 minute workout burns?

I didn't own a scale until a few weeks ago, so there is a novelty involved in weighing myself.  But you're right, no need getting obsessed.

I guess I want to work up from easier to harder.  And I want to make sure that I've got all the moves down before I start having weights on my hands.

But thanks.  It's a fun work out either way.

What I mean is that there can be a 3 pound discrepancy between morning and evening, so am I actually 3 pounds less or 3 pounds more or something in between?  I don't want to exceed my weight loss goal since I'm only trying to lose 5 pounds.

Thanks, I've been doing at least 1300 every day, and I know about the 1200 rule.  In fact, without the exercise, logging on a sedentary, I was told   1200.  But I walk my dog, go back and forth to work, and work out each day.  So I just wanted to make sure that I had the 500 deficit right (meaning to subtract it from the burn, and add calories to the 1200).  Thanks for clarifying.  Time for a midnight snack now!!
