delia, it is great that you've found this site and are ready to make a wonderful healthy life change! Of course, some times down the road will be tough, but definitely use the CC community for support because we are all in this together, regardless of our many different walks of life. You seem like a wonderful mother to be doing this, to be healthy for your kids-- they can be your inspiration! Smile GOOD LUCK with your weight loss and healthy eating! You can do it!

so I've been listening to all of your advice and I've gone 3 days without binging!!! thank you! this community of people helps so much. I havn't gone three days straight without binging in awhile, which is great for me. tomorrow I'm going for a fourth day :) I did have some chocolate and a chocolate muffin today (which could be a HUGE trigger for me) but I just satisfied my chocoalte craving and stopped there. I wanted to make it to the end of the day and I did! Hopefully tomorrow will be another good day! Good luck to all of you-- Let's DO THIS.

thank you so much for your support everyone. i really appreciate it. today i rid my kitchen of all horrid temptations (aka anything CHOCOLATE-- i'm a chocolate-addict.. and i can never just have one piece. one little bit of chocolate, and i'm binging on EVERYTHING whether or not there is chocolate in it or not). so, after the kitchen was clear, i went to the grocery store and got all GOOD healthy food that i happen to love. thinking of what you have all said, i removed the bad temptations and replaced them with good things! the fact that there was healthy food in my kitchen encouraged me to eat healthy today.. and hopefully tomorrow, and hopefully the next day and the day after. i have to take this one day at a time! it is tough but i really want to do it. it scares me that i can be so weak and so out of control. i want hope that it is possible to get over this. i want to know that everything will be ok and that i can do it. i want to get better and i want to BE better.

ahh this is awesome hearing from everyone Smile Thanks for all your responses! It's great for us to know we're not alone! It's so easy to slip up in college, but we can do it!

(good luck during finals week rmgarcia! I have another 3 weeks until finals-- But I know how the stress can be!! It's hard to find time for the gym, and eating either seems unimportant OR the eating can go WAY overboard with stress. Hope all goes well-- keep in touch!)

Yes, I definitely find it so difficult to lose weight in this range. I know I can easily drop the 5lbs to get to 125 (because my weight fluctuates TERRIBLY with water weight and such). But its those 10-15 lbs I feel are the most difficult. I think its mostly because we are not overweight.. and it can be discouraging that the weight doesn't shed quickly or easily (as it may for those who have a lot of weight to lose).

How often do you guys exercise? I work out regularly (about 3-4 times a week) since I started college with occasionally long-period breaks (of 2-4 weeks break). But generally, I'm in great cardiovasular shape and do the same sort of routine when I work out (running for 30-40min and sometimes some weight training). How about you? Do you often switch up your routines? I've been wondering if switching up routines would help to speed the weight loss process.

How about your calorie intake and calories burned a day? Personally, I try to eat 1400 a day, but on days I work out it tends to go over 200-300 cals easily. And of course, I can't even mention how much it goes over on nights I go out. With drinking and late-night snacking... it's embarassing to log the next morning and see just how much I consumed... I'm trying to get better with that of course...

Do you have set date or time period for when you would like to accomplish your goal? Ideally, I'm hoping to be down to 115 by the end of the summer. But, considering I don't know how quickly this weight will come off... I'm not exactly sure what would be realistic.

Any favorite snacks?? :)

Weight Loss I eat & eat & eat but I am not even hungry !!!!!!!!!! Apr 26 2008

yuyie! this just happened to me yesterday! and i felt horrible! I must have an a bad chocolate & sweets craving because it started with just one cookie and downward spiraled into like 10 cookies and chocolate bars and pudding and candy.. it was NOT good. and of course I felt disgusted and upset and even MORE stressed afterwards. I get really upset after binges like that and I know the uncontrollable feeling. it seems impossible to stop; so sometimes, I just try not to even let it start.
I knew I had to make up for it today and when i felt a bad craving coming on, i took a quick 10-15 minute walk or ran some errands, just to get out AWAY from the temptations and get my mind and body moving elsewhere.
We can't do much now, after the binge, but the best thing to do is to keep them from happening again! One day at a time Smile

Motivation Put down by parents Apr 24 2008

I am so sorry to hear about this situation. Losing weight is a difficult task in itself, let alone having an unsupportive family. paula is right, this behavior exhibited by your parents is definitely emotionally abusive. Unfortunately you are "suck at home" living with your parents, and you in now way deserve to be treated in this way. Parents should be supportive and helpful and I am terribly sorry you do not have that support system. One thing you do have though is support by MANY people here on this site. Amazingly, there are so many people that can relate to our situations, problems, and feelings. Believe those who believe in you. Don't let things your parents say affect the way you feel. You are strong and doing the best you can. Stay strong and don't be afraid to find an outlet in letting it all out. I wish the best for you.

Weight Loss Another YAZ post...sorry guys! Apr 22 2008

I started with YAZ too and I love it. I've been on for a little over a year. Didn't gain any weight (except a month or so I had BOOBS for once!) and had NO side effects! Most people notice weight loss due to the daily diuretic in each pill.

[The only thing I'd warn you of is to watch if you ever decide to skip the four day placebo break (in order to skip a period). I get major side effects, bloating and mood swings ONLY when I get off track like that.]

CONGRATULATIONS AND ENJOY YOUR WEDDING Smile

Hi, thank you for your suggestion! I work out hard for about an hour and a half 3 to 4 times a week. I'm definitely trying to have more protein in my diet (which is difficult for me, because i'm not a big meat eater). i have a lot of both complex and simple carbs in my daily diet. why should fruits be eaten before 3pm?

I just started this too and today is my second day. I agree! I've always struggled here and there with dieting.. and now I feel like this site can help me feel focused and on track with things, as well become connected with others also trying to lose some weight. Hopefully, there will be good results to come!
