Motivation How do you convince yourself that it's worth it? Nov 19 2009

im in exactly the same situation. 180lbs and 5'2.5. i have absolutely no reason to lose weight except for the fact that i am fat.

i crash dieted once and was asked out by a guy and i thought he and his friends were mocking me. took me a while to realise he was serious.now im heavier though. 20lbs heavier. you never realise until you write it down.

anyway my life is exactly the same but i live with my family and i believe if i diet especially exerxise with all of them knowing then i accept, although i already do,  that i am fat but mostly that i am not happy with myself which i am. silly i know but i cant handle THAT emotion even though i deal with my feelings pretty well. there is something more than lazyness that stops me from exercising. maybe its the same for you. try working that out. it took me a while to realise.

i know im fat everyone knows and says so. so wats the problem? go figure. but i have been reading stories and im not totally influenced but im going to start my 10000 steps. no one can find out  im doing it right? then when im slimmer i could start on my rowing machine. what i will be saying is i love myself fat (which i wont be) and im just toning.

hope my screwed up mind helps you.

Motivation Does God care about dieting and weight loss? Nov 19 2009

okay so i havent read everyone's views but i want to say my piece too.

I'm a muslim but not a completely practising one although I do believe in God strongly. I haven't finished the Quran and I only do obligatory prayers during the holy month (ramadan). But I strongly believe in God. I am spiritual so II believe whatever God we pray to IT is one and the same because we don't choose our religion not always anyway

It's hard to explain but God does care and today I browsing some books and the phrase God gives you what you need not what you want and when you are taking the wrong path God will guide you. You may not like it at that time like me at the moment but give it time.

So I was browsing spiritual books and I thought why bother. My religion is there and maybe I should find it. Maybe thats why all the doors i'm running to is closing. But im not liking that option cuz im lazy or something

Foods Craving bread. What does that mean? Nov 17 2009

Original Post by clairelaine:

It sounds to me like it might be a trigger food - one that if you taste it, you just want more and more.  I solved this one by switching from regular bread to mini whole wheat pitas.  I keep them in the freezer, so getting one takes some effort.  If I have bread in the house I just know I'll eat one piece after another until it's all gone.

you say don't buy them but I live with my family and my parents do most of  the shopping. They have to buy bread and cook rice for dinner. My brothers are 21 and 14. Both eat a lot. :( and never put on an ounce!

As soon as  I get motivated I see all the food. But today I managed to stay away from a lot by saying to  myself: It'll still be here when I'm a reasonable size! But I couln't not eat the bread and butter! My stomach actually hurt I wanted it so bad.

oh my god!  i tthought i was the only ONE out therE! lol. but honestly I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANY1 complain before.

When u have the answer please let me know. However my solution so far is not to buy anything. My cupboards are empty and thankfully my family is dealing with it pretty well.

Like right now I reaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy yyy want to eat something but there is nothing so im enjoying a cup of tea. it actually helps. if it doesnt let you sleep have camomille tea instead.

I only buy stuff when people are coming over so I can enjoy a bit with them and not completely starve myself.

I am restarting my diet because I have gone over to the dark side. 2 years ago i was 83kg at my heaviest and lost some but now im back at 81kg! The doctor asked me lose weight.

i was in the exact same situation as you. i on't know what your reason is but don't pressure yourself so. You won;t be able to do it anyway and you will end up eating a lot even though you haven't lost that weight. You are a mirror image of me.

When I first lost a lot of weight by eating salad for lunch and salad for dinner and nothing else, i put it back on and more. Then once I was 83KG when I am usually 68kg. I am now 75 but it was a struggle.

I don't diet ddconsistently like most people...I get tired. lol. So after a few months 2 or 3, of eating 1500 I eat 2000 because by  then I realised that I am eating more volume but less junk. So I am always full and happy.

Now I feel mentally ready, I am back to eating healthy...but allow myself a few sweets... it takes time but it goes away...

hi everyone.

im not actually trying to get anyone down or anything but i can understand where the OP is coming from...its not exactly  laziness but some of us have boring lives eg ME. when i went up to 83kg and i realised how much chocolate i was eating, I cut it out and came down to 76kg. then i figured what the heck my clothes fit....you get used to your body and there is no real motivation.

You are still waiting for that one good reason to come along...which is why you seek forums like this....and you definitely understand everyones point about being healthy and avoiding diseases but you still think I have time to lose that 50 pounds. there is no rush...

I am currently in a similar position but  I have eaten so much in the last months that I cannot think of anything nice to eat and now I am ready to lose another 10 pounds or so but for how long can you keep yourself motivated???especially if you already have someone who appreciates you???

I apologise for the long post and I don't mean to discourage anyone neither but I just felt that human psychology is hard to understand unless you've been in a similar position but yes ultimately it doesn't depend on everyone else.

Good luck and keep trying to find that reason.... sometimes its just enjoying the feel of your waist when you've lost a few pounds. People like me will always go back to junk but I weigh myslef everyday so set yourself a limit lke 2kg and whatever happens if you've goneup by 2 kg cut out all the junk....

if you find that its filling, it probably means at that point thats what your body needs. When I eat cereal for breakfast I get hungrier Surprised and it doesnt keep me for long so I started eating 2 toasts with eggs (boiled or fried) and a cup of tea and it last me till lunch. What you eat depends on what your needs and if you listen it'll tell you.

if u feel 2 eggs is too much reduce it..or keep the ham out on some days....

I am losing weight fairly slowly (1lb per week) but I'm eating well and I'm happy and less frustrated.

Take care n gud luck.

I don't think a day goes by without someone posting: OMG I LOVE THESE "insert some name" {energy, meal replacement, fiber, protein} bars. Anyone else prefers real food to those bars as a snack, or whatenot or is it just me? Don't get me wrong I eat cliff bars, energy gells, consume energy drinks on my various training rides (depends on distance, intesity etc) because they are convenient. So I am not some kind of all organic, etc cruisader, but given a choice I would rather have real food.

P.S. Nothing hits a spot like a potato two hours in to 3-4 hour ride in miserable weather. :)

UD

Not all of them are high in calories... we like it because its less effort (the reason most of us are now big) especially after work when you know dinner is about 2 hours away!

also you can keep tabs on those better like plan your day better, as well as the fact that it makes you feel like you havent eaten much i.e. you're losing weight! Embarassed

Don't get me wrong, i'll go berserk if I don't get a 'real dinner' but when you are starving and you don't like to bring food to work or school..these are better. you can also eat it anywhere! i.e bus, train, office... Laughing

I work in aldgate so in lunch hour I like to take a bus and go sightseeing while eating my lunch! Embarassed

Same here! I have never in my 20 years worn a bikini! From year 5/6 when I realised i was fatter than everyone else, I stopped swimming! And I mean I stop going to  MAURITIUS beaches!

hey I know!! lol. It's actually 8cals in the strawberry ones!!!!! Innocent

I'm currently on a plateau (never thought I would say that) and for one week I'm going to scrap lunch. I'll have usual breakfast and I'll eat one of those jelly every 1 or 2 hours till dinner time. I'll have normal dinner but I'll reduce the carbs. I'll also include an egg each day in my menu.

People will start a massive argument but it's only gonna be for a week!

So here's to me breaking the plateau! Laughing

Weight Loss Always getting overlooked...anyone else??? Feb 02 2009

hey! I am in the same boat!!!!! lol

I was 183lbs and I am now down to 165. the 3 months journeyhad ups and downs and although I lost most of it in 4 weeks, it took another 4 weeks to lose the last 5lbs.

I'm now at a plateau of 165.7 because if it goes lower for a day or so, it goes back up to that or if it goes higher for a day or so, it goes back down to 165.7lbs.

I didn't follow a strict diet but I eat everything in moderation. Before it'd be 3 kitkat in one go followed by a pack of biscuits and so on. So yay to me! Cool

Anyway yeah I feel the same as you, always getting overlooked but now the fact that I know I am pretty, I really don't care what people think. I know I have achieved a lot and will do so in the future. There are guys who are interested so maybe YOU overlooked them. A smile goes a long way. Forget your weight! Be yourself or the girl you think you are!!! I'm 19 and it took me more than 3 years to figure it out and work through it!

Don't waste your time! Be happy, enjoy life  with your true friends and ultimately HE will find you!! *I'm not talking about God* lol.

YOU'VE JUST MADE ME REALISE HOW MUCH WEIGHT I'VE ACTUALLY LOST!!!! A million thanks to you! Kiss

CONGRATS ON THE 5KG LOST!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

but sometimes it happens as some people don't put much weight in their face-read me- so the little extra is as hard to lose.

If you've lost  1kg in each limb plus 1 in water weight, it might not show much. But if you feel good in your skin and the scale has gone down, then surely you must have lost!!! So forward and onwards! Don't let it get you down!!!!

Good luck.

I just remmebered: Hartley's jelly is about 8cals per pot!! keep them around and apparently its filling for a while and take care your sweet tooth.

There was ths guy who lost over 100lbs! he ate jelly and something else and worked out like crazy. I'm not saying its healthy or suggest you do it but it just goes to show that jelly is filling as a snck.

Plus if you binge it won't be that bad. you could eat 50 in a day (if you are bingeing) and its only 400cals, compared to 3000 if it was chocolates. Also keep beatifully coloured low cal foods on the table eg fruits so everytime you want to eat thats what you're going to eat.

Juice is very ood too. Robinsons ones.

eat carbs and fibre. i'm just recovering myself and back on track. I've been eating rice all my life but stopped when I was dieting and ended up eating anything and everything else after a month.

Cereals like sunnybisk, cheerios, cornflakes are low in cals. pour 250-300ml milk and filled it to the max with cereal. It'll keep you till lunch time and keep your calories in check.

Plenty of pasta and rice and kinda stuff  helps. After 2 weeks or so your body will be fine.

Yesterday I had a sore throat and ate 2 packs of tunes. Didnt realise it was a laxative!! Surprised lol. but today my body is rid of toxins and I don't feel like eating chocolates.  I had some but i didnt enjoy it. Yay for me! lolz

Im not making a lot of sense lately but i hope it helps. gud luck

Weight Loss Tricky Calorie Counting Nov 01 2008

I understand how you feel. I don't have time and I hate preparing meals. So only input the calories before you go to bed. You'll know where to cut down next time. Don't know if that akes any sense.

I know what you mean by overestimating but most of the time your not. Like a slice of bread has 80 cals so a panini has 200clas + insides another 200 + condiments 200 so aveage 600-900 on your lunch depending if you're having high calorific foods and your calorie limit is. I tend to keep 800 cals for my dinner and have light, low calorie food during the day. if you feel you're having too much eat a salad first.

Im not sure if im making myself clear. lol. Take care
