I shop multiple times a week, and I keep groceries in those green bags that they sell on TV (and in stores), this way they stay fresh longer.

Not sure if anyone suggested, but you can also try french couscous. It takes 2 minutes to prepare.

I would look at allrecipes.com for ideas. I also watch the TV program Cook Yourself Thin, they give some good ideas.

For two people we spend average of $125/week. We shop primarily from Whole Foods and cook most of the meals ourselves. We hardly ever buy any processed foods but buy a lot of deserts/pastries etc.

I absolutely have to have the following  all times, so I always have much more than I need:

1) Few different types of pasta

2) Jasmine rice

3) Olive oil

4) Feta cheese

5) Butter

6) Tomatoes

No wonder why I am a member of CC.

Recipes Anyone have any good chicken recipes? Jun 23 2008

Here is a great recipe from Jacques Pepin. I make it all the time and it is great. I adjust the recipe to make it even healthier:

ingredients
  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (1 pound, 6 ounces), cut into 1- to 1-1/2-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons Wonder flour ( I use regular flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons good olive oil
  • 1 tablespoons chopped garlic
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley( I substitute or mix with basil and spinach and I also add chopped zucchini and/or broccoli)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter ( I do not use butter)
  • 1 lemon, quartered
directions
  1. Dry the chicken cubes with paper towels and toss them with the flour, salt and pepper in a bowl. Heat the oil in a12-inch skillet until very hot but not smoking. Add the chicken cubes and cook in one layer turning occasionally, for about 3 1/2 minutes.( after a few minutes I add veggies)
  2. Meanwhile, combine the garlic and parsley in a small bowl. Add the butter and the parsley mixture to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute longer, shaking the skillet occasionally to coat the chicken. Divide among 4 plates, add a wedge of lemon to each plate and serve within 15 minutes.
