Fitness The cross trainer/elliptical machine - how long do you use it? Jul 29 2008
20:43 (UTC)
Original Post by varsityfrosh:

I do 3 sets of 15 minutes on the elliptical at a resistance of about 10. I used to do 35 minutes straight, but I would get so bored so I just had to start breaking it up and hey, 45 minutes is better than 35 any day. After, I do about 30-45 minutes of weights.

I do this too!  I get extremely bored on the cardio machines, so I usually warm up for 10 minutes on the eliptical, then stretch, do my weights.  Then 15 mins on the eliptical, stretch, do crunches/abs, then 10 mins on the treadmill walking the last five.

Hi!

I'm getting married Sept. 27 2008, and trying to tone my arms and loose a few pounds for the honeymoon. I'm at 152 now (was 157 last month when I started), and trying to get to 125.  I don't care that I might have to have my dress taken in!  I'm working out a a Curves-like circuit gym 3 nights a week and sometimes on Saturdays, and have gradually changed my diet to be much more organic and healthy.

anyone can feel free to message me if they want a buddy for a sept. wedding!

it's kind of funny because I'm a distributor, and sell the juice to a few of my friends/family,but I don't drink it anymore... maybe I  should start.  I never liked the taste of it.

75-100 per week for two people.

a normal mixed drink should have one ounce or liquor in it (I used to bar tend).  If you go to somewhere like applebees or Chili's, they probably use more.

I like the smores ones.  Don't like the peanutbutter cookie ones, they taste kind of burnt.  The lemon ones are good too.

I tend to eat them when I am going straight from Work to the gym.  It kills the hunger for dinner for an hour or two and doesn't fill up my stomach so that it's uncomfortable to work out.

I also  like that they are packed full of vitamins, just in case I didn't eat so well that day.

I love zuchinni with red sauce.  I always grow it in the summer and add it to pasta sauce, goulash, whatever.  your preparation sounds cool though, take the pasta out altogether...

I don't know about excercizing in the car, but maybe you could stop 3 or 4 times at road stops and do some cardio.  Jumping jacks come to mind.  you'll have to stop to use the restroom anyways, just don't pick up any fast food while you're there!

you might just need to get used to it.  When I make smoothies I make sure to add the liquid and powder first and blend it up so that the powder can dissolve rather than just mix in.  I also usually get whey protein.  I don't know the difference...:)

Foods Why does hungry girl love laughing cow lite wedges? Apr 30 2008

I think that part of their appeal is that they are pre-portioned, so if you plan to eat one wedge of cheese, you can eat the entire thing for only 60 cals (or whatever it is, I can't remember right now).  I eat it for lunch sometimes, usually with a handful of rice or wheat crackers and some home made soup.

also, to add to the cheese-loving that's going on here, my goal for tonight is to make a mac and cheese that doesn't kill my diet.  I looked for lite velveeta at the store, but they didn't have any, so I'm going to use regular, plus some cottage cheese and skim milk.  I may include some of the laughing cow as well, to replace some of the velveeta.

I agree with the fresh fruit.  I often make big trays of melon, pineapple, grapes and berries.  Add some skewers and let people make their own fruit kabobs.

Maybe you could try a lo cal dessert, since usually bbq's are full of brownies and cupcakes and such.  Check the recipe area for recipes.

Yours sounds like a difficult situation, but not impossible.

I would suggest a real heart to heart with your mom about food, meals, groceries, etc.  Let her know that you appreciate all she does for you while at the same time trying to get her on your healthy bandwagon.

Good luck!
