| Vegetarian | Chickpea Curry anyone? | Mar 15 2009 21:15 (UTC) |

I eat this everyday almost. It's great. By the way, the meat version of this for Indians is actually Chicken Curry, substituting chickpeas for chicken. Anyone who is vegetarian always asks for chickpea curry instead. |

Seek out vegetarian Chinese restaurants in your area. If they don't exist, then don't eat Chinese unless you travel to other areas. |

If you see "Vegetarian gelatin" in an ingredient list, then I am sure it doesn't contain animal products. |

Morningstar burgers - Too high in sodium (salt), but generally tastes better Boca (Vegan style)- Breaks apart too easily in your mouth, but healthier. Only 100 calories per serving, and a high level of protein (20 grams, whereas Morningstar usually has only 15-18 grams) |

| Vegetarian | being vegetarian and eating eggs | Oct 07 2008 01:06 (UTC) |

I respectfully disagree with everyone above. Eggs are meat; it is NOT just vegans to abstain from eating it, but full vegetarians consider eggs as meat, and should not be eaten. A chicken suffers in a farm when they are being taken advantage of by farmers in mass egg producing facilities. They feel pain and anguish. They are later killed for their meat after producing eggs. If you guys/gals are vegetarians for ethical purposes, then you really shouldn't be eating meat.
This confusion about whether vegetarians can eat eggs reminds me of the whole pescatarian fiasco, where some people think fish isn't meat. And now we have a nice term like pescatarian to say, hey, you are not a true vegetarian because you eat fish, and fish are animals just like chickens and cows. Similarly, an ovo-vegetarian is not the same thing as a vegetarian. One day, there should be a new term to describe those who eat eggs because it defeats the purpose of vegetarianism to eat meat (eggs), and call yourself vegetarian.

| Vegetarian | does sea food count as meat? | Apr 20 2008 03:56 (UTC) |

For people who are *becoming* vegetarians, they may drop chicken and beef, but then eventually overtime they drop seafood. They may in error refer to themselves as "vegetarian", and use the term loosely, but like someone pointed out, they are pescatarians until they become vegetarians and drop seafood altogether.
