I would suggest telling him that you want to get into shape but you need somebody to motivate you. Then he will come with you when you exercise or go biking etc. That way you are not saying that he has a problem directly but you get to tone up and he gets to feel good while exercising. Then once he starts to enjoy exercising then whenever you eat together cook something yourself that tastes really good but is not fast food and is low in calories without him knowing about it. good luck to you
