Thanks to everybody who gave constructive advice, and dave98z3 I might be asking you some questions in the near future as Brandon and I progress in our relationship. So, thank you for that offer :) mollymouser I'm glad to here you've been together for so long and I admire your strength to have gone through 6 deployments :) that must have been really tough. And those are some good questions, some of which I have already been pondering myself. To answer them: 1. Yes, my boyfriend wants to get married. He was actually the one to bring it up and he talks about being married and starting a family (having kids later of course we are much too young) and he likes to call me Mrs. Terpstra :) He hasn't proposed yet though. And no he hasn't named me his military life insurance beneficiary, yet. 2. My parents and I had been going through some rough patches before Brandon and I were even together and they don't live in Hawaii so they haven't really got to know him yet. But they support me in any decisions I make. 3. My boyfriend is stationed in hawaii for 3 years so I am either going to take classes during the summer and try to finish my degree in 3 years, or I will just have to transfer schools my last year which will be hard but I'm willing so long as I get to be with him. And yes I have thought about if we have to move every 3 years how hard it will be for me to establish myself in a career, but he is only planning on staying in until the end of this contract (6 years). 4. So he is planning to stay in short term. He is going to take online school while still in the air force so he should also have a degree by the time he's out. And then we can decide what we want to do once we get to that point. Right now I am starting to think that it would be best to wait until he gets back. |

| Health & Support | Period every two weeks? | Oct 03 2009 02:24 (UTC) |

Wow that's crazy I've experienced almost the same exact thing. I also got a 3 month supply of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo from planned parenthood. It wasn't to get my period back though, just because I was becoming exually active. Anyways I hadn't gotten my period for 2 years prior to taking this, and then I think I actually got my period naturally once or twice before starting since I had gotten back up to a normal weight. I had some major bloating on this pill though, and on my first pack I started bleeding like right after my last placebo pill and then it continued for a little longer than normal. Then after starting my second pack about 2 weeks in (maybe not even) I started bleeding, and quite excessively like more than I ever had before. I went to a doctor here (I'm in college away from home as well) and she said it's pretty normal and it didn't surprise her since I had gone 2 years without a period my body was still trying to adjust to all these hormones. But I bled for about 2 weeks (none of which was during placebo pills). She told me to just wait it out until I've been on it for 4 months and if my body still hasn't adjusted properly then she said I would probably need to switchBut to another pill. BUT, Idk how good this doctor was? It was the health center on campus so maybe if I went to an actual gynecologist she would tell me something completely different? So, if you are gonna go to the doctor I would suggest seeing one that you know knows what they are talking about lol. |

Okay.. if my apparent stupidity is so funny to all of you.. then this should give you a chuckle: I'm the Valedictorian of my High School :) Seriously though, I can think of issues in our country. I was just asking to see if anybody had any ideas that could make for a good story. But thank you people for instead insulting everything I say. Oh, and I am sorry that I don't read all the Literature text books on my free time like you must ignayshus. corduroy- thanks, your little story was entertaining. (and no, I'm not actually going to use it for my assignment! lol)

Thanks everybody! :) brookebar- the weird thing is that I have been working out, like it's track season right now and I was also doing lifeguard training this past week when I finally got it back. So, idk exactly how that worked out? I think that mostly I just stopped counting calories for a while and ate some higher fat foods without worrying about it too much.. good luck to anyone still trying to get theirs back :) |

Thanks so much for your help! So, I can drink other things(just not red stuff lol) as long as I do it through a straw? :) Okay, that might help. But yeah today I just decided to eat two meals because I got up at 10, ate quite a bit then went to work from 12-7:30 and then ate another meal when I got home. I feel so full though right now because I felt like I needed to eat alot to make up for only eating two meals and now I feel sick :( I hope I can start getting my meals back on track.. What did you mean by "once you get to the stage where you are changing them every 2 weeks.." right when I started they said that I will change every two weeks... maybe our cases are different? |

I had a stress fracture in my foot a couple years ago and MAN do I know the pain! It was during track season and I tried to ignore it at first but then I had to run the mile.. not a good thing. I was out for the rest of the season after that :( I had a boot that I had to wear for 6 weeks which if you don't have one already I would suggest asking for one from your doctor. I was able to swim laps a little while it was still fractured and then I rode a stationary bike and also I continued lifting weights, just upper body though. Definitely don't do anything that hurts it though! You want it to heel as quick as possible :) Good Luck!! |

I am in a similar situation. I used to have best friends, I actually had friends fight over me... and then one day they decided I wasn't good enough for them... Ever since then, I haven't had much luck making any real close friends. Like you I have many, many acquaintances and "friends" at school but not very many that I can really hang out with outside of school. idk what to do either because I am always afraid of losing my friends again so I think that I unconsciously don't let myself get close to people just in fear that I will end up losing them. This is really no way to live my life, but idk what else to do either.

| Health & Support | I need help with what I should eat.. | Feb 26 2009 07:14 (UTC) |

Okay, well I had like 2200 today, so that's better right? gi-jane- thank you for your advice. and trust me, I already did the starving and sports thing during volleyball, basketball and track season last year, and I didn't die, but I felt like crap so I am trying to do better this year. zeb- I never said it would be okay to only eat 1200 cals with all that exercise. I am asking what I should eat and how I am supposed to cram it all in when I will be so busy. merry- those are good ideas but I'm lactose intolerant so I can't have most of them :( have any other ideas? chirpp- I know I'm not going to be in Michael Phelps shape after a week, I am in decent swimming shape so I'm just trying to get ready for the test and make sure that I atleast try it once before I take the real thing :) In track I do high jump and triple jump, so not as intense workout as what you would be doing. I still have to do the sprinting and everything but nothing long distance. and I now realize that 1600 is too low. I had been restricting cals for a long time so I am trying to get back on track but I just wasn't that hungry since my metabolism had slowed. But I can tell the after just three days of working out that my metabolism is definitely revving up, which I am happy about :) |

Oh, sorry, I probably should have put my stats huh? :P Well, I'm 5'11.5 17 years old and 127 pounds. gi-jane- do you think it would be okay to eat a snack RIGHT before I go to practice? I have heard that you should eat a snack like 45 min before, but I can't always do that if I have class.. and the calculator says that I need 2610 cals for moderate and 3180 cals for very active!! I don't think I could eat 3000 cals without exploding! I ate like 1600 today which is probably too low though because I didn't have a ton of energy during practice. any other advice? |

| Young Calorie Counters | Is counting calories detrimental to anyone besides me? | Jan 29 2009 07:13 (UTC) |

I am going through the exact same thing as you :( I unlike the others who replied have not overcome it. I think the same way as you like I just eat it because I can afford it in my limit even if I am completely stuffed. It is really making me quite sad. I really want to start eating intuitively, but every time I try it seems not to work and I don't know what to do?? Like sometimes I will have eaten "bad foods" all day but not even remember what foods specificly I've eaten I will just remember "oh I've had 1200 cals so far so I can have that cookie" when I need to be thinking about fruits, vegetables, protein, vitamins, etc etc. It's so frustrating!! I know people say "oh just quit counting calories" but it's not just that simple. My brain is always calculating calories whether or not I am trying to, I don't know how to just turn that part of my brain off?! |

Well, it seems like a pretty balanced diet but maybe a little low on calories if you are working out everyday. Also, it's okay to mix it up a bit and make sure you don't deprive yourself of all sweets, it will be very hard to keep that diet for the rest of your life ;) Plus, 160.4 to 153.4 in 10 days... that's almost a pound a day! Pretty soon your body is going to go into starvation mode so you probably won't lose weight at that rate for long. |

| Health & Support | Exercised Induced headache/migraine | Jan 18 2009 09:01 (UTC) |
|
I once got an exercise induced migraine as well. It was well over a year ago though. I had just finished v-ball or b-ball practice (can't remember which) and I started to feel a headache coming on. By the time I got home, about 10 minutes later, the pain was so intense it was probably the most pain I've ever experienced. About an hour later I actually threw up from the pain which had never happened before. I still don't know what caused it either?? But I am guessing something similar to what others are saying. Probably the combination of the heat, exhaustion and dehydration (in my case anyway). |

I actually read "Skinny Bitch" about six months ago and I did start to change my diet, I completly stopped eating beef though I rarely did before. I refused to eat butter and I recently discovered that I'm lactose intolerent so dairy products are out. Just yesterday I decided to reread this book and now I think I am going all the way vegetarian. I mean I have flirted with the idea before and I feel soo much better when I stick to it, so I officially started my new lifestyle today! :) "Skinny Bitch" is inspiring. |

I just got a 2007 Chevy Malibu for just under 12K and I Love it!! My parents put 5K down for me (because I am 17 and have no credit yet) and I have a 6 year loan but my payment is only $146 a month! But, I agree, I would put as much money as you can afford to down and then see what kind of a loan you can get. I would definitely not suggest getting a short loan with higher payments because everyone I know that has done that has struggled to make their payments. It is better to get something you absolutely know you can afford every month and then pay extra then not be able to make your payment at all. Good luck! |

| Health & Support | I don't think I should eat dinner tonight | Dec 10 2008 04:24 (UTC) |

Well about what time did you eat? Like if it was somewhat later it probably wouldn't be too bad to miss dinner if you are just too stuffed. But if it was like noon or even earlier then that's kind of a long time before breakfast tomorrow and you might end up binging again in the morning beause your so hungry.. Or you could just have a small snack sort of to tide you over till the morning. But seriously if you need to gain weight than I don't see why it would hurt you any to eat some extra calories one day. |

I've been wanting to try it just to save me some time. Do alot of people get bikini waxes? I honestly don't know because, well I guess it's just kind of an akward subject to talk about..lol |

| Health & Support | Am I undereating THIS much? | Dec 10 2008 03:59 (UTC) |
13 |
Well, first of all you are already underweight so you should not have a deficit at all. I don't see how you can even lose anymore body fat if you want to still be healthy. Maybe you should eat more protein in order to build more muscle and then your six-pack will be more defined. Because at this rate you are probably losing muscle mass from all that exercise combined with undereating. So, yes you should eat more! and that calculator is accurate but I think for your activity level you should probably use 2.0 not 1.7 making your burn be about 3000 cals a day. But, if that just seems way to high you could meet it in the middle and have about 2800. I hope this helps :) |

OMG yes I want mine back soo bad! I haven't had it since april '07! Way too long because I want to have kids some day!! Yeah I know how you feel though, like not to long ago my friend was like asking me a question about when I get mine, like at the beginning of the month or the middle... (obviously I haven't told I don't get it because it's really personal and I've only told 3 people, ever) but it was really akward and I was just like oh it varies.. I would tell her but it just wasn't the right time at that point. Anyways I have been upping the fat intake but it hasn't done anything.. idk |

Yes I love cereal too! I used to eat like 3 bowls at the end of everyday..ugh it wasn't a good habit. I ate it even if I wasn't still hungry, it was just so yummy I couldn't stop! lol But now I hardly ever eat it because if I start I don't wanna stop! It was actually giving me stomache aches to eat so much food at once so that's why I stopped.. |

| Foods | Do any other teenagers find it hard to eat healthy?? | Dec 03 2008 04:37 (UTC) |

Yeah I now what your talking about. My older brother and younger sister are both really picky eaters so all my brother eats is salty things like cheezits(he eats like a whole box in a couple days) chips, granola bars, pizza, white rice, crackers, popcorn and he snacks all day long! Then, theres my sister.. shes worse! I always try to get her to try new healthier things and shes like I've already tried that and I don't like it, which I know for a fact she hasn't tried it! But she eats pizza, ice cream, spaghettios, sweets and it seems like everyday she stops liking one of the healthy things she used to like! Then, there is my mom always trying to get me to eat butter! Which I don't like! She's like it doesn't hurt to eat a little fat.. yeah I know it doesn't hurt to eat a LITTLE fat, which I do, but not when you put half a stick of butter in with the veggies! But, my mom is definitely the next healthiest in my family compared to me. Since I have been talking to her about healthier alternatives, etc. she has sort of tried to lose some excess weight too and she atleast considers making things healthy :) And my dad.. he is really tall and eats sooo much!! He always buys chips and soda and ice cream or he wants to order pizza or food from this Italian restaurant near by.. So, yes sometime I do find it hard to eat healthy with the way my family eats. But in all reality my family eats alot healthier than most. lol. long post :P |
