It's good to know I'm not the only one who has been slacking in exercise and everything!  I'm just in an awful slump.

It also helps to hear that others know what I am going through.  I was clinically diagnosed with major depressive disorder back in 2002.  Been through many medications.  Found one I liked, but insurance stopped covering the brand name and I found the generic just did not work for me.  Wound up having to switch yet again...the med I'm on is ok.  Just recently increased dosage.  Sometimes it's helping...sometimes not so much.  Those of you who have experience with the depression meds know it takes a while for them to kick in.  I'm just waiting...rather impatiently!!  haha!!

Anyway...I've been trying to be better about working out.  On Saturday I did a 20 minute HIIT workout on my treadmill....then I did it again!!  Boy was I sweating!!!  That's good, right??

I also found this site...haven't started it yet but plan on doing so this week (since I've already paid).  http://www.fityummymummy.com/  It's  Has anyone else tried it?  I'm a sucker for stuff like this.  Unfortunately.  The support on this site is exceptional though.  You send an email and get a personal reply the same day.  Sometimes within an hour!  I'll keep you all posted on how it goes.

Hi everyone, and welcome to the newbies!!  I've been gone for quite some time....only mentally.  I am very frustrated with my weight fluctuations and just can't seem to get it under control.  And then comes my binges.  I haven't been doing well with counting calories or exercising.  My knee still bothers me some, but I've been taking it slow on the treadmill.  Just walking.  Depression has begun to creep up on me (I'm already medicated), so my doc increased my meds.  I'm sure that has something to do with my inability to lose more weight.  Unfortunately, the meds haven't really begun to kick in yet.  Sometimes I feel good, and sometimes not.  So...I've just been a couch potato, lounging around.  I make it to work and cook dinner, but beyond that...I don't do much.  *sigh* And on top of all that it's TTOM.  Ugh...

I'm SO glad to see everyone doing well though!  It's great to see new people joining as well!!  Hopefully I'll get straight and be back at it soon!

I have found a really great workout called the "trouble spot tune-up".  In the beginning, it's only 10 minutes, but as your body can take more, you do more.  I did it and was sore until I did it again.  It's from the "ultimate leg, butt, hip and thigh workout".  Here's the link (hopefully it works)...http://legbutthipthighexercises.com/wp-conten t/uploads/2008/06/trouble-spot-tune-up-for-wo men.pdf

I've been using dumbells and my exercise ball.  While it's no run, it's better than nothing!  I haven't been losing weight like I expected at all.  So, it's a bit depressing.  I've lost 10 lbs since April.  Don't know what that is about, but it makes me wonder why I'm trying so hard with little to no results.  Makes  me kinda want to give up.  But I keep going.

ajde - I know what you mean.  I was raised on "cleaning my plate" and not leaving any food behind.  Makes it very hard to leave any on my plate now.  No matter how full I am...I just keep on shoveling!!!  It's a very hard habit to break, that's for sure.  I keep trying, but I'm not succeeding.  :-(  I just put less on my plate now.

LR - that is SO me..having to have some cake (twice) :-) LOL!!  You have been doing so well with your weight loss!  I'm jealous! :-)

Just thought I'd update everyone...my knee is doing better !  yay!  So, hopefully I'll start walking or jogging next week.  I don't want to do anything too soon and hurt it again.

Yeah, I've been doing upper body work..I had to purchase some inexpensive dumbells,  and sometimes i do crunches on my exercise ball.  I looooove my exercise ball!!!  I don't know why...I just do.

But not being able to do my normal exercising has made me somewhat of a couch potato!  I mean, I do my dumbells, but I do it while I'm watching TV or a movie.  I guess it's better than sitting there eating a snack while watching...right??

Now...for my weekly challenge to eat better and not have my daily "bad food"...I've done pretty well and I'm half way through!!  I'm even down like .4 lbs, which I wasn't expecting.  It's not much better, but better than zero!!

I'm so envious of those of you who can ride a bike to work!  I would love to do that, but it's way too far for me!!

Coppertop - congrats to you on your last week of having TWO jobs!  I don't know how you do it!!!  And congrats on the bike ride!  nothing wrong with you taking a little time for something you like (watching Bachelorette) either!  You got up after it was done and had your bike ride!  Impressive!!

Ok...enough of this LOOOONG post!

I'm still here...and I check every now and then.  I don't have much to say.  Not losing weight...injured my knee and was told not to exercise for now.  It pretty much sucks.  And I keep finding myself eating unhealthy in the meantime....so...that's my story.  But...I'm still here!

Woo-Hoo!!  I'm back!!!!  Above are my stats for today.  I did fairly well...I'm pretty proud of myself.  Laughing

Spook - thanks for thinking of me and holding off on the activity challenge.  Hopefully I'll be able to start exercising again soon.  All I can do is upper body work right now.  If I'm not better by Monday (6/30) everyone can just do it without me.  BTW, a solar oven??  Wow...that seems so...complicated.  Please do tell us how it works out!  I'm very curious about it.

Oh, and I mentioned the skinny cow sandwiches in an earlier post.  My dh came home today with a package of Smart Ones peanut butter cup sundaes!  I'll let you know how they are!

I also tried Arborio rice.  Yummy!  I made it in chicken stock and added sauteed onion.  Very tasty!!

Yes, I've been MIA, but I'm back now.  Didn't do well with the weekly challenge (as you can tell) because I hadn't been logging my food.  I know...bad girl.  I have very good intentions of doing this all the right way, but last week, it never failed...I "fell off the wagon" at least once a day.  :-(  That really sucks.  I'm just really down...I can't exercise because I've been told by my doctor not to until my knee heals.  Who knows when that will be...It's already been 2 weeks and I'm still in pain.

Anyway, enough of my complaining....I'm proud of those of you that were able to stick with the challenge!!!

As fara as a personal weekly challenge: to do better this week!  None of that daily "one bad food" thing I kept doing.  What was that all about?

On a positive note...my family wanted to go out for ice cream last night...I found a fat free, sugar free chocolate chip that was fantastic!!  So...I had a "cheat" but it was better for me than the alternative.  Speaking of ice cream...have you all tried the skinny cow sandwiches?  OMG...I love them!!!

Well, my log for yesterday....ugh....rough day.  I fell off the wagon bad so I haven't even logged it all yet.  I was doing semi ok...until dinner and my husband brought home KFC.  Sure, I could have cooked something else for myself, but I wasn't in that kind of mood, you know?  and I am totally starving already this morning.  I haven't had breakfast yet though.

I plan on doing better today.  Innocent

and I'll get yesterdays log done and post it when I can.

Add/Edit: I tag a lot of my items for much quicker logging, but my list can get pretty long.

yeah, maybe we can come up with weekly challenges.  Starting on Monday sounds good to me, since we are already halfway through this week.  I don't know if we can find that many challenges to keep us going, but we can at least rotate them.

I dunno...what do you all think?

I forgot to log all day yesterday, which is odd for me.  I'm usually on here logging all the time!!  Guess that goes to show how busy my day was yesterday.  Work has been crazy...and I had a rough night last night.

Anyway, today is a new day.  I'm headed to go get my morning cup of coffee and really get my day started (I only drink one daily)!!

I have a family reunion coming up in July...and most of these people I haven't seen since I was 13 years old!!!  that's almost 25 years!!  Well, I did see them briefly at a wedding back in the 90's....but still, that's a long time!  And I had lost 45 lbs then.  Now it's all back on and I'm working really hard to lose some of it before the reunion.

Man...I HATE trying to lose weight!!  It's SO hard!!

As far as the workout challenge portion...I'm in if we do that!

Keep up the great work everyone!!!

Ok...I think I'm done for the evening.  If I eat anything else, I'll edit later.  Just got done with a 2 mile run and it's time to shower!  I'm interested to see how everyone did.  I think I didn't eat enough today...especially with a 2 mile run, but I can't find anything else that I want...that's good for me!  I ate my last apple the other day.  Oh...I know...I'll eat a banana.  That's good post-workout food!  Let me add that, and edit my grade, etc.

LOL!!  Yeah...I could....but I've been hooked on the Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches.  YUM!!  OMG....and I've never really been a fan of ice cream sandwiches.  Yeah, I know what you mean...sometimes the low fat dessert is the only thing keeping me from a binge!!  It's enough to satisfy the craving I have for something non-diet-like.  And the serving sizes of these desserts are perfect.  Not too much, but not too little either.

Damn...now I want one!!!  Surprised

The cookie dough one is awesome.  OMG...I love it!  The only ones I've tried are the cookie dough (obviously) and the mint choc chip.  I dunno...I get indigestion from the mint one.  Weird.  But it's still SO yummy!!  I've looked at both the key lime and the strawberry shortcake before.  Now I'm really tempted to get them!  Mmmm...I'm craving them and it's only 8:45 am!!!  I have such a long way to go til dessert!!!  Yell  These little desserts work VERY well for craving my sweet tooth though!  I could eat one every day if I let myself!!!

Hi everyone!  I know I didn't say so by Sunday, but I'm in for the challenge starting today!

We had a rather rough weekend, my 12 y.o. daughter had 4 teeth pulled on Friday afternoon...in anticipation of braces (poor kid), and I didn't do any logging, so starting today will be great!

I'm jealous of those of you that can ride a bike to work!  My ride is just a little too far for me to be riding....it's about 20 miles one way!!  And the people around here drive like maniacs so it makes me very afraid to even want to try!

Maybe we could come up with different/varying weekly challenges.  That would be fun!

On another note...I've gained a pound.  It doesn't sound like much, but when you are trying to lose 40 lbs...and the scale starts going the opposite way...it's discouraging.

Also, welcome to the new people!!!!

I am a paralegal in a local government prosecutors office.  It can be very stressful at times.  When I am off at 4:30, I am home by 5pm and I almost immediately start making dinner (after I change clothes).  My family eats early (obviously) so I usually don't work out before dinner.  Then I have been running kids to softball games and practices and sometimes school stuff.  But now that school is out, and softball season ended last weekend, so I think I'll be finding more time to work out.  So, I see a light at the end of the tunnel!!!  I just don't like doing it too late or I can't get to sleep.  Which is a vicious cycle if it happens b/c then I'm tired the next day and don't feel like running or whatever.  You know?

I know...excuses, excuses!! Embarassed LOL

I'd like to join if that's ok.  It sounds like it's where I need to be!!

I am 37, 5'3", CW 153, GW 125.  Married 17 years w/two daughters ages 15 and 12.  I work in the legal field full time M-F 8-4:30p.

It's hard for me to find time sometimes to work out, but after reading some of the posts, I don't feel like I do anything compared to you guys!!  OMG!!

It's also hard for me to eat healthy when the rest of my family (who in NO way need to lose weight) can and does indulge in ice cream or doritos or anything of that sort.  I've done well to stay away from it, but sometimes I just give in....I try to keep it in check and not binge though!Undecided

We let the housework "slide" at my house as well.  Between me working and cooking and working out and my husband working and going to school, it's hard to keep up.  I've got one teen that will help pick up if she's told, and a pre-teen that doesn't care one bit if she dropped something on the floor, so that's always a struggle.

How you ladies can get up and get laundry done or chores is absolutely amazing to me!!!  Kudos to you! I wish I could do it!!!

I have had my thyroid checked several times over the past few years because I have MANY of the symptoms, but my levels are always in the "normal" range.    I don't know about others, but my doctor won't treat symptoms.  But like des says, 98% of us don't have thyroids performing at optimum levels.

des - the iodine thing really works, huh?  I'll have to try that.

I think I'd be less likely to say "nah, I'll just do it tomorrow" if I have the weights at home.  If I join the gym, maybe it'll push me to go even when I don't want to.

Are the free weights really pretty cheap?

Fitness Question about strength training/weights Jun 06 2008

Wow Little...I sat here reading your post with my mouth gaping open!  You rock with that workout!!  I am now definitely motivated to add weight training to my running routine!!!  I have been hesitant to join the gym, but I feel there's no other way around it now.  Especially if it's going to help sculpt and tone the areas I HATE so much (hips, thighs, butt, and yes...the dreaded back-fat that I have "acquired")!!!  You know...all the stuff that still jiggles when I run!!

I guess the main thing stopping me from joining the gym (aside from the cost) is the feeling I get inside from being around people while I'm working out...and wondering if they are thinking "omg...look at that fat girl...she can't even do *insert exercise here*" and being overly paranoid about what my body looks like.  I believe I have a bad case of body dysmorphic disorder because my husband and friends all tell me I don't look like I say I do.  Maybe they are just being nice, I don't know. I just know I don't feel like I look good.  You know?  I just try to dress nice and "fix myself up" every day (hair, makeup, etc)...But on a positive note here...I have lost 10 lbs as of today (ok, well, technically 9.6 lbs)!  Woo-Hoo!!!!  go me, go me, go me!!  LOL!!

I appreciate the replies I got on here...they were very helpful (most of them anyway Wink) and I am SO motivated to get started on the weights!!!
