sorry this is so off topic-i just have to say;;; VANESSA! you ROCK man, that must have sucked growing up. you are so strong to persevere through that kind of influence. My mother was into a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and excerisizing, but health was just really the background of our lifestyle, not the center, and she STRONGLY enforced that i should never do anything soley for image... if it weren't for her influence, i wouldn't be who i am today. i'd be pretty clueless. i really admire you |

I LOVE living harvest's hemp protien powder... I guess rice protien is technically more nutricious, but FOR ME, I feel like the omega 3's in hemp help my concentration level :D if I get really low in fats- i can almost notice my own mental short curcuiting |

i think that's sort of a rediculous dilemma. yes, part of growing up is learning to get over yourself and deal with it. yes, youre going to be the only one eating sometimes. revel in it, that's life. your friend will learn it. she is responsible for herself, you are not responsible for what she does, or how she feels. be considerate, but don't eat if you are doing it just for her.. cc calls that "social eating... but whatever in the end, it's YOUR body...and if you don't want it, you're going to end up being the one with a problem |

wow, thank you for all of this information!!! needless to say, i lived. today, i feel perfectly fine :D i just really freaked because ive heard stories about how butter can make you really sick, and had convinced myself that not eating dairy for so long, i had made myself lactose intolerant. evidently, not true. welp. now i know. |

| Weight Loss | What are you doing to address the underlying issues? | Apr 02 2009 05:44 (UTC) |
|
i don't believe that it is necesssarily the issue it self that leads to disorders, rather the human response to dealing with it: how do you solve your problems. all too often this stems from someone's self esteem, and they hurt themselves. i know that if something goes wrong in my life, if my best friend just up and leaves, or my boyfriend leaves me, or i miss someone, or i feel like i suck at school, or WHATEVER... my initial response is to just starve it off... it's such an easy way to solve all my problems because then hey, i feel good about my skinny little self agian. i just had this revelation recently, so i'm actually eating more often, and dealing with life. it feels so much healthier for my subconscious... |

| Weight Loss | what is normal? | Apr 02 2009 03:35 (UTC) |
|
yeah, i agree that this is an extremely subjective question depending on your nutritional needs for that day, however if you're asking what i would have done ... i just would have waited before i had the second. maybe had a cup of tea or something just to test my impulses and if i still felt like i need it or should have or had that wonderful sensation of blood sugar dropping then i'd deff go back for another, or some soy ice cream... :D |

oh my god. people like him are the reason the world sucks. i was at a party my junior year in high school, and this guy, named tree, was running around touching every girls butt... i was not even aware of this mind you, and anyways when he got to mine he was like "DAMN yo' ass hugeeee' if he was drunk i would have made an exception, but no... sadly, he was just a pig. |

| The Lounge | Religion :P | Feb 20 2009 01:03 (UTC) |

as a philosopher (self proclaimed, might I add--I CAN'T RESIST!) 1.What is your religion? I honestly can't associate myself with a religion... it's too cultic. I feel like they exist as systems of beliefs to control society and keep order. Which is retarded. It's why gay people can't get married. I do, however, pick from other religions qwhat I've found to be true 2.What are your personal beliefs? I don't really believe in anything I can't prove and I hate it when people do blindly believe 3.Do you believe in a god? which? haha, coincidentally, I do, I feel that God is everything in and of itself 4.Does your religion restricts you from doing something? what?(cursing, not eating something, etc) I'm a vegan... it's not because of any religion, obviously, I just am morally convicted opressing life is wrong 5.Does your religion include asisting to anywhere? where/when? (church, etc) Nope 6.Do you believe in afterlife? Not for the ego 7.If you believe in afterlife, what do you think there is after life? if you dont, what do you think happens when you die? ummm a pool of energy that never ends 8.Do you believe in a heaven or a hell? if so how? I think the bible implies these as "in the moment"... if you translate hell directly it means "desert", obviously heaven is the opposite, maybe an evervescent flourishing forest, making the most out of every situation 9.Any other thing you would like to add? ask me any questions |

Original Post by cindolin: you talk about a "binge" as if it were some sort of biological reflex ingrained in peoples with eating disorders and that they have no control over what they shovel into thier mouths that's a lie. a total lie. humans do have desires, this is true. to be human, is to want, very much sometimes-- humans also have something called FREE WILL... excersize it. |

well i think the idea behind them is the fact that it is more nutricious to eat a cinnamon roll larabar (which is made out of only raw food, and doesn't have any transfat, artificial crap, etc) than to go out and the actual thing when you're craving it, because your body can break up the nutriants in bars and use them, whereas pillsbury cinnamon rolls aren't really even " food"...lol |

| Vegetarian | Vegan sources of calcium? | Dec 09 2008 14:33 (UTC) |
4 |
i only heard that with vitamin C. i know that when you combine different foods your body will absorb it differently, for example it takes in twice as much iron when you eat it with a source a vita C (like spinach and a tomato together) dates are super high in calcium, and sweet and delicious... i reccomend those edit: yes i am very suspicious of vitamins too. they seem unnatural to me.... |

| Vegetarian | vegans: daily dose of nuts/nut butter | Dec 05 2008 15:13 (UTC) |

same here, usually with me i eat one or the other. usually nut butter is easier. so i have a story! i ran out of peanut butter at the end of the week, and i spent the next two nights feeling pretty sick and crampy. im thinking i may have formed some kind of dependance on the choloric value or something! BUT it could have been giving blood , because those effects may have taken longer. i don't know i probably have a reliance on it eitehr way |
