I am having a hard time. I'm about to turn 49. I'm 5.2inches and after months of getting the scale to go towards the downward side, this morning it's almost 2 pounds over the MAX weight limit I set for my self -- OK, 171.5.  I've been down around 164 and headed downward, really just up and down. I believe I've got the thyroid thing under control. I'm taking synthroid 75 mg. I am committed to doing cardio everyday for at least 20-30 minutes, but I'm just so tired. I don't sleep well. I'm eating healthier (look at quinoa [grain w/high fiber] ) and I'm hungry. I really appreciate this website. My dream is to become a runner (Like the rest of the world!!) ... but I also enjoy swimming. I'm hoping that dragging myself to the gym & working out will give me some kind of energy.  I think that working out in the morning is going to be the best thing for me.  I'm rambling now. I want to take a nap. Thanks for listening & I'll be back to read more. This website really does make a difference!!

Peggy,
thanks for your long rant.  I know this is the right thing to do. It just gets frustrating taking three steps forward and two steps back. I know from my weight watcher days that the tape measure tells you more than the scale. I just need to remember all that I've learned through the years. I don't know that much about sodium and water weight? I also very much appreciate the info about thyroid meds, etc. I think I will make another appointment w/the dr.

I know that this forum and the support it gives is very very important also.  Thanks to all who have posted!

I get just a bit of a chocolate fix from VIACTIV Calcium chews. They are carmel-like chews that have 20 calories each, FAT=0.5g, CARB=4g, SUGAR=3g  Two  chews give you 100% of your calcium. Wal-mart has a generic version, but I haven't looked at the nutrition data yet. I'm also a big chocolate milk person, but a small handful of chocolate chips is required at certain times!

I went to Sam's wholesale and bought the MEGA box of Special K, but I too, have a problem with their skimpy 1 cup serving. It just doesn't do it for me!! I'm going up and down and not getting much results doing what I'm doing, but I TRULY LOVE THIS WEBSITE!! I am going to hang in there as long as I can. I have got to get rid of this WEIGHT! Please let me know if someone has success with this plan. The cereal does have a lot of vitamins, etc. but I don't know that it would be very complete nutrition.
thanks! cms@uts.cc.utexas.edu Austin, Texas
Weight Loss Hello, I'm new here! Jan 26 2006

Hi ya'll. My name is Deanna and I'm in the suburbs of Austin, TX. I'm new here too and very much excited about this website. I did pretty good entering what I ate and my exercise (1st day, I know, but...) I have a few questions? How do you enter in a home cooked meal? Do you have to enter each ingredient for say, a casserole? I made a turkey meatloaf and I wasn't quite sure how to enter it in. Did the best I could. Went over my calorie limit a bit today but it's not too bad for the first day. I went up two flights of stairs and walked at lunch. I think this will help me quite a bit be more conscious about how those calories add up. Thanks for listening. "See ya" next time!
